1. Happy Birthday Paradoxx!

2. I can't believe that zip file is still there. I haven't had a Westnet account since 2007! Just incase they delete it I have saved a copy. Steve
3. Ahh so the initial tune would have been considered "safe" for running in I guess. *Sigh* I miss the T! One day...
4. How have you been running it in? Is it up for its first oil change?

Don't know, none of those are listed in my service specification book for BFII Fairmont with 6 Sp Auto
7. Just getting up to speed here... well done Al. Sounds (and looks) like you have excelled yourself yet again! Steve

This http://www.gulfwestern.com.au/Data%20Sheet%20PDFs/syntrans_atf.pdf doesn't mention anything about Ford specification WSS-M2C919-D for the 6 speed auto. It's not mentioned on their website... maybe they just got some stickers made up??

Checked with the Ultratune mechanic today, he was under the impression I had a 4 speed p.s. isn't my status supposed to change from "inactive member" back to "Donating Member", which I was originally?

I doubt it, the price was for Valvoline and it is a suburban Ultra tune

Cheers, I have the feeling he thinks it's just the 4 speed. I might stay on the cautious side and follow Ford's instructions. Definite blast from the past! I haven't been in here for about 18 months. I'm getting a vibration at about 90-100km/h which I'm thinking might be the diff, hoping it isn't the ZF. Hopefully a fluid change will sort that out.

Has anyone else asked about a stock standard ZF service? My trustworthy dealer (been using them happily for years) says they just don't touch the 6 speed autos, and "anyone who does is just asking for trouble". I have been advised to get the gearbox serviced by a different service centre (much closer to where I live) who says he can do it for $190 including fluid. This prompted me to ask a few questions, and hearing that my Ford dealer doesn't touch them has raised alarm bells for me. Steve
13.

Nah mate havent got the pics any more. They must have been lost during the site upgrade.
14. Here's an update, you don't need to remove the steering wheel. The back of the indicator stalk comes off, its got a small hook holding it in place at the base. If you release that, the backing comes off, exposing all those wires, giving you a bit more length to solder it back together. I found two wires broken. Soldered them and put heat shrink on, put it all back together and its all sweet. Just saved 600 bucks
15. Mine does the same thing, it seems to be an alignment thing. They have re-calibrated my steering angle sensors about 5 times, its good for about 15000km but faults constantly now. I'm out of warranty now so I guess its gonna cost me a few pennies this time :( My car has the light come on every time I drive it now, so annoying. Last time I went they told me to get new tyres, a wheel alignment, then they will re-calibrate it. Only ford can do it cos no other service places have the software.
16. OMG my car has EXACTLY the same issue, same little wire!! I need to get the instructions to get the wheel off, so I can get in and solder it too. Did you solder it in place or take the assembly off all together? Also, were there any special tools required to take off the wheel? This is obviously a design flaw, the wire getting pinched continuously in the indicator stalk. I hope none of the other wires get pinched and broken in the future. Might be worth some extra tape/tubing to provide some mechanical strength. Steve
17. Wow here's a blast from the past.... cant believe this post is a sticky! So as an update, I no longer have the XR, and I had to put the gear out on the roadside (all the wood bits)... a bit disappointing but that's the way it goes. Someone did claim the sub box though (I never actually finished it, but someone would just have needed to seal it nice n tight). I still have the DVD player and custom plastic mount if anyone wants to buy it? PM me if your interested Steve
18. Cheers guys, Yeah I thought there was a dude from the eastern states who made them for the forum... might have to do some digging! Steve
19. How are we all lads (and lasses!)? Hey does anyone remember where those ipod cables came from? I think it was a forum member making a kit. Tried searching but only found the for sale thread... items sold of course. So what's new? Been a bloody long time since I've been here! Anyways hope your all doin well, I'm gettin married in two weeks! Steve
20. Don't you have a ceramic clutch?? I can't imagine that was too nice to drive with a trailer on the back. I replaced mine before I traded it in, and just from about 2 years of driving the pressure plate was cracked and had a nasty wear pattern in the face. They didnt want to put it back in incase it came apart at high rpm. Be careful heating it up!!
21. Yeah I wont be lowering it... the point is to not spend money modifying this one like I did with the XR hehe I kinda wish I had the ghia body kit though
22. Ahh lucky bugger. Not yet I'll ring him this week when I get paid. Cheers mate
