Posted 11/05/05 10:51 AM Posted 11/05/05 10:51 AM Whats going on with the MK II T's and XR8 it seem's that the T is getting slower with a 14.8 in the june edition motor mag compared to last month's motor mag were the xr8 did a 13.9 ,It sounds to me that they might be holding back the MK II XRT to boost up the XR8 and GT salesCYA JEFF PS:Both cars are 6 speed manual's

Looks like the Edit boys will need to put on a few extra bods doesn't it

The newest E8 now runs high 13's again....They have to stop somewhere, otherwise in 15 years, we'll all be driving around in 11 second factory Falcons. They up the power, along with the weight to keep it on a level playing field.I heard the word is overboosting was causing some MKII's to fail. so, dropping the boost is obviously a cheaper and quicker solution than fixing the overboost problem.

There would be no need to "pump up sales" by lessening one it's own products...that's like Coke changing the flavour of regular Coke to "pump up sales" of Diet Coke.Dave.

I tend to think that all stock t's are becoming aligned in power eg the slower ones would feel a increase but the freaky fast ones would feel a drop. There is no real power or boost decrease , A manager at Ford ensured me that the difference is in the torque line and delivery which is now MUCH smoother. Hence the power comes on smoother. It may not feel fast but its moving. I am pulling from stock monaros and VZss's with ease but it dosnt feel quick. With medias bagging of the T I feel they are crapping on to sell

Anyway, to make the XR8 quicker would be a smarter move than making the XR6T slower. And if you think that would threaten the GT/GT-P's, who cares. For purists that think GT should be the quickest thing on the road, yes maybe, but remember back in the day of the Hoeys, there was no XR6/8 to knock them around. My point??? There doesn't necesarily have to be a pecking order of performance, that's just a notion created by upset disgruntled GT owners who get whooped by cheaper cars.

But through the article they stated the turbo went into limp mode so to me its sounds like a troubled T and possibly without a reflash...
