  1. Hoon is an Australian and New Zealand colloquial term applied to individuals who typically drive fast and dangerously. The term is also used as a verb: "to hoon" or "to hoon around", meaning to act in a reckless or otherwise less than sensible manner. The term "Hoon" was first used in Australia at the turn of the 20th century. Its origin is currently unknown but is widely believed to be a shortened form of "hooligan" [1]. In more recent times it has been used to describe any young male or female who drives in a manner which is anti-social towards the standards of modern day society in what are usually heavily modified vehicles of Japanese or Australian origin. These vehicles include, but are not limited to the Nissan Skyline, Nissan Silvia, Subaru Impreza WRX, Toyota Supra, Honda Integra, Expensive Daewoo Late model camira and any other car that has been upgraded in usually illegal ways to obtain maximum performance. So by definition if you drive a Ford you can't be a hoon ... LUVVIT !!!
  2. What motor is in your Charger? What transmission? The four-speed autos are slow to change. The six-speeds are way better. But you'll never get the instant torque when you floor the throttle like you do with a manual (if you are relying on kickdown). Try shifting the auto manually and you'll find the throttle response far more acceptable. Remember that the BA is also at least 400kg heavier than the Charger. EDIT Righto I just see from your other thread that it's a 360, so it would have a torqueflite auto. Very good box but no quicker IMO (unless you've kitted it) to kickdown than the Ford four-speed. The difference you are most likely feeling is simply the smoothness of the torque delivery of the turbo motor compared to the massive low down torque of the Mopar and also the extra weight the BA/BF is lugging around.
  3. recommend Padstow Heights - better side of the street as it were, and very safe area generally for both people and cars. Picnic Point is a great area too but a bit exxey probably - check it out though
  4. .... and your car is an auto, right? ...
  5. You're a kidder, oh go orn, yes you are. When were you close enough to the back of it to even recognize it as an AU? Oh, that's right, while we were parked at Cooma.
  6. I was thinking the same thing. Not having a go at you or your tuner but your rwkW figure seems pretty optimistic. Your times and trap speed are not in any way indicative of much over 220-230 rwkW.
  7. Nah, I'm over it. No more of the crap for me. I had to endure all the years of the AUs racing with NO CHANCE of ever winning a race under the one-sided rules. However I DID endure it just to support the Ford teams and drivers who were busting their guts. I'm not going there again. I'll go to the cricket before I'll ever go to the V8s again.

DST has it's good sides and bad as well, but longer daylight for those of us who does not get home from work till 6 pm is great (hot or not) Isn't it amazing though, before the trial it was 75% in favour in the city, and now against Something wrong with the stats here ← 86.9% of stats are made up on the spot ← I would have said 99.8% ... if I'd had a moment to think about it
  9. Good pics Shaz - nice to see tab made a friend along the way (all you have to do is throw a few crumbs and they'll follow you home - just the kind of bird tab needs). And I'm assuming it was he who made friends with the flock of sheep too? Did he give them all individual names? Who was his favourite? LOL. No pics of the Snowy leg ??? All happened too quick eh?
  10. Who cares? I do my driving on the road.

  12. Well the light has to be pretty bright for us old fogies these days - until then I guess I'll still just keep on DRIVING my car. At least I don't need a light to see what gear I'm in - that just about says it all about auto drivers eh?
  13. Don't forget the two years Skaife ran traction control and launch control. AVESCO as much as admitted it by saying it was "too hard an issue to police" and "hoped that in the name of good sportsmanship no competitors were using". What a crock!
  14. I was gonna say "Dell" ... but then I know SFA about laptops of the kind to which you refer
  15. It was after the Barbagello round when he was penalised for "taking out" Skaife. It was very controversial and most people believe Skaife was clearly in the wrong and that Ambrose was hard done by, including Ambrose of course. Ambrose was given a drive through and said after the race “With decisions like that I’m almost pleased I’m leaving the series. We’re not going to lose this championship, we’re going to get it taken away.” He was subsequently fined $15,000 and docked 25 points.
  16. XA GT cam do you mean - they're about the only ones worth using in a 351C. It's what I have in the LTD. Honestly not worth a lot because there are so many off-the-shelf cams available. He might get $200 just because it has a genuine Ford part number.
  17. It'll be a cold day in Hell .... who in his right mind would want to come back to Amateur Hour in the Kelly Family Circus? Didn't you hear the serve Ambrose gave to AVESCO during his penultimate race in the category? Got fined over it but I'm sure he feels it was money well spent. He who laughs last ...

Oops, silly ol' bugger ... missed that. That one must have been Chris' test post maybe. The site was definitely not "opened" until Oct 10. Well that's how I remember it anyway - but hey, look who's got Alzymers. Chris can probably clear the "history" up for us. It would be quite interesting actually.

Actually, ... I like to hear 'em gag.
  20. Yep, you see you can work it out for yourself ... now you just have to decide what is right for YOU. The options have already been explained for you and Brian has done his 4.1 diff but with a manual box so it isn't going to help you at all. BTW, he also found 4.1 was a bit too short for the manual. As this has already been covered I think this thread is just going to end up repetitive so I'll end it right here.
  21. I think the gearbox lost first gear. Having to start every time in second is a bit of a hassle for anyone. Skaife's about the only person who can do it repeatedly ...

Nope, no posts for 9th Oct. Site didn't exist (in public) until 10th Oct.
  23. Which is EXACTLY why we should have this type of racing - then Ford would lift their game instead of dishing up second rate cars like they have done for the last 4 years. As for the V8 series this year I'm afraid I just couldn't be bothered. It should be called the Kelly Family Circus. They seem to own the show. And the main attraction is the puppets - AVESCO and TEGA - totally on strings, MONEY strings pulled by the Kellys.
  24. The difference at 100km/h is actually 400 rpm.
