  1. What power figure would that get me to..... Roughly
  2. So it's not something I need to be overly concerned about???
  3. The number itself means f*ck all to me, I'm more concerned about the injector duty cycle. I'm still surprised at the number it's making in comparison to others on the same dyno though !!!
  4. Purchased as a demo from Ford with 2000km I get what you're saying about 3rd gear being higher, but I'm comparing directly with other stock Fg's and tuned ones on the same dyno in the same gear....
  5. Hey guys, I recently had my car run up on the dyno to check the power level and was quite suprised at the result.... The car is an FG XR6T 6spd auto with Rapid Systems intake pipe and XR8 airbox as the only mods, which are both proven to add little to no power. 256rwkw at 9.5psi in 3rd gear on Graham West Dyno in Adelaide. Brett was very shocked at the result and said that most FG's that he gets through make around 220.... He also went as far to say that he thought the car was tuned, as he said that tuned FG's are only putting out between 260 and 270 on his dyno. AFR's were 13 coming on boost, 12 through most of the rev range and dropping to 11.5 at 5700rpm. The inlet temp was 31 degrees at 2260rpm rising to 50 degrees at 5580, which I assume would be expected with the standard cooler??! The concerning part for me is the injector duty cycle, as it hits 100% at 4300rpm and continues like that till redline. Is this an issue? It seems like an issue! Brett said it's ok providing I don't get a sh*t batch of fuel or something, and even then, it MAY not cause an issue... Cheers
  6. Just purchased a new intake pipe from Chris, so hopefully in conjunction with the xr8 snorkel, lower airbox and k&n filter I'll get a decent increase in induction sound! Not after that crazy induction sound, just something noticeably more throaty than standard.. Thanks for all the replies guys, I'll try to post a vid of the sound when it's all fitted....
  7. It looks like your running a pod in a box... Which would make the spool sound considerably louder.... Thanks for the pics and vids though! Do you think it's a worthwhile upgrade to improve induction noise?
  8. I don't want the car to sound like a jet.... but to be honest, I want as much intake noise as possible without having to fit a pod filter, or cut & drill new holes. Basically so I can put everything back to completely stock for warranty. I hope that sorta makes sense?!?!?
  9. did you notice a fair increase in induction sound with just that one change? Did you use silicon hoses, or just the standard ones factory fitted?
  10. Thanks for the info Dillz I did know the turbo hotside coldside thing, I'm not sure why I posted that... Must have been on crack.. lol. I think I meant turbo side. I really haven't noticed any change from the airbox and K&N change, but do you think there would definitely be a notable difference if I replaced that cone intake pipe as well? Has anyone done this, how did it sound? So is there anywhere besides Rapid Systems to get the prefab intake pipe.... Somewhere local in Adelaide if anyone knows a place?? I checked Exhaust Technology and Marks pricing was going to be way out! Cheers
  11. I see.... So replacing this hotside pipe removes a restriction and allows for mor intduction sound??
  12. Hi guys, I did a bit of research into the changes in sound and power after fitting the XR8 snorkel with lower airbox and k&n filter to the FG XR6T..... I wasn't really able to find too much info on this and the things that I did find didn't really answer my questions, so I thought I'd post something up for all to see. I mainly wanted to find out what change in induction noise I would get and if I would get any noticeable increase in power. Yesterday I fitted the kit from FTG Auto that sells on Ebay for $285 + I purchased a k&n filter seperately which I picked up for $77 but will normally cost you around $100 from an auto store. It will take no more than 30 minutes to fit and you only need the below: Torx allen key or screwdriver set (only 1 needed, but they generally come as a set) 8mm Spanner 7mm Spanner Phillips head Screwdriver Power I have noticed a little more mid range urgency... It tends to wheelspin a little more aggresively coming onto boost. Haven't really had a chance to test top end yet, but I can't imagine there would be any notable gain. Sound I am very dissapointed to report that the difference in sound is minimal at best.... It's only full throttle that you notice any change at all, and you kinda need to listen out for it. I am a bit pissed off to be honest, because the main reason I bought it is to get a better induction sound. Before anyone mentions growler kits etc, I wanted to keep this as as standard as possible so that there was no drilling or modifications (can be put back to bog stock without knowing there was any change for factory warranty). Is there anything I can do hotside to increase induction sound that is easily reversible to stock (ie. no cutting or drilling) Cheers Pkaboo
  13. Definitely a warranty issue mate! Sticky throttle situations can be exactly that.... My advice is take it back to Ford and get it checked out, but my money's on the stepper motor.
