  1. My Thermo fans are staying on after short (3-4km) drives, in cool weather. And virtually every drive The engine is always warmed up before I drive, but I've always done this. The Thermo Fans staying on seems to be a recent thing. Oil Temp gauge seems to often be in this position(pic): These issues are with sedate driving. I have heard bubbling behind the instrument cluster ( coolant is at correct level ). Is this likely to be a flow issue in the cooling system, or Faulty temperature sensors? Thanks
  2. I'm browsing iPhone Mobile version. I think it's the bloody advertising that determines the page width. I was just in a thread with a Pickles ad that left a huge blank to the right
  3. You might have had some moist air going through the AC duct/evaporator ( that has condensed) when it was last used. With the cooler weather, it hasn't had the chance to evaporate. Maybe mixed with some dust, to get some bacterial growth happening. You can go to a Ford dealership and they hook up a machine that sends a cleaning agent through the system. Or go to an Air conditioning/ refrigeration supplier and ask for an aerosol can that disinfects and deodorizes. Blast into return vents ( under dash) with fans on high, until it comes out of the supply vents. Or a can of Glen 20 ( or similar ).
  4. scrutiny of the photos indicates that the new model Falcon will feature a larger upper grille and smaller lower intake in contrast with the current FG model's design. ( info from carsales 'news and reviews')
  5. Hats off to you gunna. What you have achieved is impressive. Some members here are awesome, giving their time and sharing their knowledge. Keep going Mate. Nearly there.
  6. I saw one of these on a site generator 5 years ago. Access would have been difficult for sump plug removal . A technician just opened the valve, and drained the engine. So easily done. It would be a perfect option for an inboard boat motor, with a hose passing out through the bung hole.
  7. Can you go bigger, with power gains, but go quiter than stock ( F6 ) ? Similar to some of the Euro Rockets? There's a business in Vic: Exhaust Control Technologies who do big silencers for industry. Apparently they have done Cats for HSV. The more that gets thrown into the system, the more restricting, but.... surely there is a way. J pipes for a start?
  8. ^^ big effort by the owner in preserving that GT.
  9. Here's a similar thread, with mention of the Malwood tramp kits: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/67555-fg-ute-axle-tramp/
  10. Dillz I've been educated! Thanks vey much for going to the effort, and to other members who've added useful info.
  11. I'm hearing ya Gunna. I changed trades because I was always fixing other people's 'unfinished' work. There's only one way to do things. The right way! I'm constantly surprised by tradesmen doing a bad job. And still charging full rate. I seem to try and do everything these days, just to avoid disappointment. Hope the tray works out you Mate
  12. How did you go with Brett? What did he recommend for the ute? Thanks
  13. Great effort gunner. The wheels really support the 'sleeper' look. Can you reduce the 1 tonne carrying capability by using a lower rated tyre, then have the registration papers changed to that rating( I had a 1.5t trailer registered as a 1t because Tyres didn't match the axle rating??). Nearly there Mate.
  14. Looks like you need to change to Acemenacexr6 eh. Cool colour, whatever the name.
  15. Interesting! Seems like a good idea for Safety. But how about the safety issues using the Methanol, if an impact ruptured the reservoir and it ignited?
  16. ^^ yep, I agree. Just part of kicking her over. I wonder what the thoughts would be if it were a Race car Toggle Start switch. I'm guessing its just a latching switch for a relay (pushing the button, just for a moment completes the circuit, energizing a relay, so the button doesn't need to be held ). A Toggle switch could be used as a repair. And if you went to the effort of sending 2 wires to the Steering wheel, you could mount a Start Button there.

^^ has this combo worked for anyone in the last 4 years?I noticed in another thread legal/insurance issues, with Caltracs: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/87689-fg-ute-caltracs-traction-bars/ And what about 4 link rear, as a fix ?? http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/86565-4-link-rear/#entry1478971
  18. Hey Presto Remove the top capping (easily done), which releases the tub, so it easily lifts out I'd suggest doing this to see exactly where the steel sub structure is. (With the tub removed, you'll see that it isn't a complete floor). OR get it up on a hoist to check out. Yes, to treating the holes after drilling. And a reinforcement plate will help if you need to tie down a big load. I can post or Pm some pics, as I have a tub sitting on pallets
  19. I can see how involved this would be to organize. And I'm guessing that it could achieve extra sales from members, who might have put this upgrade/spend off for a while or altogether. Rather than mention $, what percent saving would you hope to achieve with the group buy. Cheers
