I want to buy a T - but mechanical problems?
I would like to think that your tale of woe WILL have an impact on future Ford customer care and it should. As I said, IN YOUR SHOES I WOULD DO THE SAME. I was just saying that people with negative experiences might tend to speak out more in the hope Ford will take notice/learn and do better in the future. Take no offence to this Mondie as none was intended. I still cant believe they cant just give you another diff or whatever, its just unbelievable. Ford need a sledgehammer to the head for acting like this with you, they made $155m profit, they could fix a lot of peoples issues with $10m, and yours with a grand or two, just dosent make sense. Cheers Rob

I want to buy a T - but mechanical problems?
Its seems also to be the case that people with problems continually post over and over and bag the hell out of FOMOCO because their problems arn't resolved properly, and they think its a way to hurt FORD so they will get their warranty issues properly fixed. It gets very emotional and personal and its understandable and the minority sounds very loud, its frustration venting, and if it were me with the problems I'd probably do it too, but alas, I've had an XR6T AUTO FOR 26,000k'S with a total off road time of less than 8 hrs, superb, just a couple of minor probs, now a GT auto with 7500k's and its just as superb, good luck whatever way you go.

I'm Now convinced.
You could have more fun with yours than mine Al

I drove a mate's GT last week and guess what?
Duc, Mine is an auto and has no hint of shunt at all, you can get on and off the gas at any speed without any clunks or noises, same with gear changes, smooth but more positive than the turbo, floor it in either normal or performance mode and again it just drops the cogs and hang on, no clunks and bumps, manual changing in perf mode is the most fun, again, does what its designed to do with no noises, no prem brake squeal and no engine oil use issues, this one of mine is simply brilliant has not missed a beat in 7500clicks, power continues to increase, unfortunately for Simon he has problems with manuals, as do a few it seems, but it wasnt an option for me, the auto is great, Simon says the shunt is there, maybe, but hell, I cant find it in mine, and after the k's I've done it should have come about by now.

Different Leases?
Hi Simon, just trying to work out how this one works, If you borrow say $50k against your house at say 5% to buy a car, then in the first year you will have the following net losses $2.5k interest, $4k approx running costs, depreciation $10k approx total net loss of $16.5k for the year, your asset is now worth $40k and your loan remains at $50 assuming nothing paid on the principle, you can now get a new car worth only $40k unless you increase your loan to $60k, so you can get another $50k car, am I missing something here? What can be deducted if the car is Buisness use, the whole net loss? If so then assuming a tax rate of 47% you would end up with a net loss of approx $9k for the year. Can you explain this a bit I am interested? Cheers Rob P.S. hows the GT sale going, any nibbles?

will you get a Typhoon?
Totally agree, with the clunks, thumps and period noise from the diff plus the rollover chatter from the TREMEC and now the cluych issues surfacing on modded GTs I lost my faith and cancelled my order for the Typhoon yesterday. I love the cars and the GT but I ain't forking out another near $70000 for something that will probably clunk and thump and whine (I can do those things well enough myself). No wonder this great country of ours is seen as the manfacturing joke of the western world . NOT GOOD ENOUGH FORD. The entire QC issue should have been sorted by the series 2 AU 3 years ago Yeh Rick, agree the manuals have a few issues, I must say, your GT will be quicker, and sound heaps better than the Typhoon, and in my opinion, still look better, bonnet bulge and all. I too don't believe Ford will have fixed the drive line yet. You my friend have a Typhoon beater now in my opinion. Good idea to wait and see if Ford have addressed the driveline issues, also Peter (APS) has something special in the pipeline, and you wont have to worry about Ford driveline components in that thing, cause it'll all need to be replaced, to handle the 520rwkw!!!!! Might even need a new drivers seat to handle the G forces pushing ones ass out the back. Cheers Rob

APS Power/Torque/Price numbers
It would be sedan and auto, but I'm probably getting ahead of myself here as I can't at all judge what a project like this would cost, could'nt even guess+or - $20 grand so there is my first problem. But thanks for replying and I will follow the project and costing with extreme interest. This would be the car I've alway's wanted but would have to rule out at a certain $$$ level. Anyway thanks again Pete Rob.

APS Power/Torque/Price numbers
Hi Rob, Good to hear from you and development of the Phase IV system is going very well. If all goes to plan we will have the APS phase IV enginering test mule in the magazines later this year, that will give the Journo's something to think about for a while and get them into plenty of trouble. The phase IV system will only be recommended for XR6T's with serious drive train upgrades and is not recommended for T's with auto transmissions unless the stock Ford auto has been replaced with an auto which has a much higher Torque capacity. I have no doubt that a T with this APS Phase IV system will run in the 10's at a big MPH (130mph+). Bring on the mid life crisis - sounds like a lot of FUN to me. Regards Peter Thanks Pete, but would you be able to arrange a suitable drivetrain for this vehicle? I have no interest in chasing around for a gearbox here or a diff there, I would just want to give you the car and, pick it up done and really, apart from checking the oil, etc I have no interest in lifting the bonnet. Do you third party the drivetrain for customers at all?. It must be an auto Anyway Cheers Rob

I now have a T!
Well done mate have fun and be safe, just this morning I fanged my car around corner and floored it got to 90 in 60 zone before seeing a cop and backing off. fortunatley he was pointing his handheld radar in the opposite direction, phew that was close. See you got the auto, should hopefully avoid some of the shunt and noisy drivetrain issues, I've the auto in the "T" and "GT" and they are great no probs Anyway good luck and cheers to you mate

Price of petrol
Ha Ha yeh I forgot there for a second, But I wouldn't mind one of those APS stage 4 or 5 or whatever Peters working on pumping out 520 odd rwkw, on, I'd reckon you'd get at least 200k's out of a tank with one of those baby's

Price of petrol
Easy mate. l fill my car up as often as needed with whatever takes my fancy, and submit my receipts once a month along with my other re-imbursable expenses. There is no lease involved and no limit on my usage (within reasonable limits) Ah Simon that's awsome, if I could get that I'd have the biggest fuel guzzling V8 or turbo around (sorry to any environmentalists)

Price of petrol
What he said So you guys mean the price of petrol has gone above 76c/L... Me to, for the last 7 years... Havent paid for fuel since 1997 l figure l must have used $30k of fuel in that time. How does one get "free fuel" even with a company supplied and maintained vehicle would'nt you be getting a reduced salary package for this benefit? Unless of course the car is used almost solely for work purposes such as a travelling salesman. With a novated lease I get a 47%discount on fuel, due it being paid for pre tax, so $4k of fuel actually has a net cost of just over $2k, but I still pay. I'm curious as to how one achieves totally free fuel?

APS Power/Torque/Price numbers
G'day Pete, just interested how the phase 5 is going (500 odd rwkw) and if you yet might have a rough idea if the kit fitted, to a stock XRT, will be south of $40k, or if north , how far north? This vehicle got my attention as it would definately dispose of 99.9% of traffic light irritations, and should run 10s if one were inclined, would satisfy my need for a "very fast car". One needs a car like your proposing once in ones life for the sheer hell of it. (Did someone mention mid life crisis ) Cheers Rob

Hypnodoc's Next Bolt-On

Fog light rant
Sometimes people forget to dip, I am guilty, but usually a quick flick of the high beams gets the other person to dip quickly, if they dont, I slow down a tad and keep well left.

Fog light rant
Are cruises excluded from the anger, as about 20 XRT'S and GT'S had em on, on the last Melb cruise, did look good. I generally keep em off 99%of the time. Bit much when its 35 deg celcius and people have em on, commies are by far the worst still SS'S MUST HAVE EM WIRED IN PERMANENTLY
