Looks to be a tidy package, seam welds in photo top class, well priced also, and HDI have been doing these things for a while now, so one could assume that they may have a handle on making these units now, cheers

Hi all, can not find any info on rapid yellow paint formulation. Just needing to know whether it has a metalic componant in formulation, or is a geniune non-metalic colour, cheers.

From my understanding of bore configaration this engine has been designed to be a forced induction engine. Firstly the square bore configuration is taken from the Mitso evo. This motor I believe will be more suited to turbo than supercharger. I believe in turbo form it would provide Ford with a flatform that would include excellent motorsports outcomes. Further, I would be more than happy if would could go back to a V8 supercar event that ran engines that we actually bought. The motoring companys then could go back to a system of win Sunday sell Monday, Cheers

I am not sure a spoiler would create less drag, and I do think that it would create some down force, but marginal, cheers

That would be Cooroy-Noosa road how fast where you going that is one nice hill, cheers

Actually that is only 9 years time and there are plenty of people driving around in 2001 model cars, Cheers.

I are have twin boys aged 12, they love this stuff but will the touch screen still work when they are 21, cheers.

The marketing arm of HSV must be running scared with the release of the new FPV,s. This is a gimmick, but it may work as Australia is a global leader of technology consumption. Now the question that I do pose with this type of data logging revolves around warranty issues. Could HSV dealers download information that would suggest that the vehicle has been used for motorsport applications and that due to this use you have voided your warranty. Further, if the vechicle was involved in a bad accident or fatality could police check data logging to prove that you were exceeding the speed limit etc. Cheers

Hi all, I would like to tell my story, and my passion for cars. Then I would like to put forward some reasoning as to what I think would fulfil my requirements. I thank you in advance for your feedback, and the time you have taken to read my story. The first performance car I owned was an HZ GTS. This car was a 308 with a turbo 400. For its day it was OK. In fact I only brought this car because I could not find an ESP 351; in hindsight I am glad. In retrospect I don’t think I would be here today if I had. I was only 18 at the time. Anyway back to the GTS, I had only kept this car for two months, and the amount of fuel that it used was ridiculous. If I went out of a night in it, I would come back and all the GTS badges had been removed, this was also becoming expensive. Therefore at this point I made the conscious decision that V8, s were fun but really not cost effective. So this was the beginning of my car passion. Through, the years I had a nice XE 4.1 4 speed and then sold that and brought an R31 Skyline. This was also a 5 speed, and due to the lower diff ratio 3.7 I had no trouble blowing away the VL, s. Anyway one day there was a VL turbo sitting next to a VK 308 that sounded nice, the lights turned green and the turbo was all over the VK. This I found interesting and then started being interested in turbo technology. But really never went any further with it. Anyway fast forward, the VN five litres arrived on the scene. I had three kids by this stage and required a station wagon. I made the decision to become once again a Expensive Daewoo supporter. I found the only 5 litre 5 speed wagon for sale in Sydney. The car had 18,000 kms on it. It was also a factory 8 seater. It is a July 1990; I brought this car in 1992 from Suttons Expensive Daewoo at Chullora. When I brought the car I promised the wife that I would keep it for ten years, because back then I paid $24,000 cash for it. Anyway to cut a long story a little shorter I still have this car today, it has served me very well and for much of the time I have owned it there wasn’t much around that was quicker. Certainly no ford 5 litre would touch it. Once the LS1, s hit the scene well I thought it was time to move on. But in the early LS1 days bore distortion was a major problem. So I figured that I should wait until this was well and truly sorted. By this time ford had released the BA XR6 turbo, so then I had to evaluate the situation. Then I moved to Queensland and business was not what I had expected so the VN was safe for the meantime, and still is for the time being. This car has been amazing it has never had the head off it, the A/C still works and the lifters still have not started to get noisy. I average 11 litres to the 100 km,s. I have no idea how many km,s it’s done as the speedo stopped 9 years ago on 242,620. I feel now that I will never sell this car as all my kids love it. Living near the beach you can’t imagine how often the young surfers ask me if I want to sell it. Now that I look back by retaining this car I have saved a small fortune. I must say this car was serviced every 5,000km or now without the use of a speedo every 3 months without fail. I have used HPR 15 penrite and always change the oil filter when doing an oil change. I remembered my father’s friend who was mechanic always saying oil is cheap, engines are not. But now I am completing my University degree this semester, next year I am going to buy an XR6 turbo. Now with this new found knowledge of keeping a car for a long time, I then had to find out which model would be the most durable. The BA was out due to engine durability (rods). BF11 an FG where the options. Through, many many hours sorting through this website I have come to some conclusions. Hopefully they are right, but if not please correct me. Please also understand that this outcome is not based on financial, or personal bias. I would hope to think it is the result of rigorous research. OK, here I go. When looking at which vehicle should last the longest I suggest that the BF2 has some clear strengths. The engine assembly is identical to the FG however the BF2 does have a stronger piston construction, although this does lead to greater fuel consumption. Bf2 has larger turbine and operates at 40% less pressure, therefore one should expect greater longevity. Although, generally speaking this analysis is done without any modifications in mind, it could also be expected that the BF2 will be more durable long term if modified. I am aware that the FG engine has a better turbine oil feed, this may compensate for increased turbo speed and temperature. There is no question that the FG turbo arrangement is more bottom end performance orientated, but this will affect long term durability, to what point I do not believe that information has become available yet. I am not unaware of whether there are different materials used in their construction, but there is clearly the assumption that both turbines are identical in material construction. The FG has an alloy front suspension change. It may be considered that this particular construction will not be able to maintain the structural integratity that BF2 has being steel. Finally the rear brakes on the Bf2 are ventilated where the FG has solid discs on the back. Further, the positioning of FG front brakes are definitely an advantage. The other clear advantage the FG has in manual form is the TR6060 gearbox, but I have seen the T56 box handle 530rwkw,s so this is certainly not an area of durability concern for either vehicle. In relation to the FG F6 I have seen information that the F6 has forged pistons, this I have not been able to confirm, therefore I don’t believe this to be correct, but am more than happy to be corrected. Again thank you for your time. Cheers

Who Has A Zf Powered Vehicle In Melbourne...
Impellor replied to Headsex's topic in General Car Talk
May be a good opportunity to get a headsex tune at the right price, when doing calibration download, food for thought. You know how it goes I scratch your back. Cheers -
My personal view is that if Ford continues with the inline 6 direct injection will be an option as it increases efficiency, Therefore less emissions better fuel economy. Remember, a couple of years ago Ford said that it would drop the Barra engine range in July 2010. This has not occurred so one would expect that a decision was made to push on with this engine for some time yet. However, I am not privy to any insider information that others on this website seem to be, so maybe they can add to this discussion. Cheers

It appears a new king is born. Further, no intercooler and low boost, this thing has massive potential, Cheers.

Bufphoon I was a fan, but I feel like you have exposed yourself, I now feel like those who didnt know who the stig was, Cheers.
-
that's a big call, please continue as to why, if you would, cheers.

Personally due to oil pump internal housing wear, I would think that not having a turbo oil filter somewhat risky. Cheers

Mate this is for funny not seriously stupid, ugly, fowl etc, etc. cheers

There is no doubt that this is a very rigorous debate. I will try and clear up what I think are points of contention. 1 Work choices was a policy that was to promote small business. I feel it was more about allowing business owners to expliot staff. If your ten years were up as an employee you could be sacked, therefore employer did not have to pay long serve leave. The list goes on, but in reality it made lenders nervous (banks) interest rates go up, simple economics. NBN means big bucks, why hasn't anyone worked out that these costs will be passed onto consumer. You will pay much more, why because you have already been told how much better it will be. The biggest question is why are we losing so many soldiers in Afganistan, and should they be there. No one is discussing this, Cheers

I tend to agree that you will be granted an exemption. I would state in the application that you are suffering financial hardship and that you have exhausted all avenues. I would highlight that the pregancy was unplaned and that you current financial situation would mean that by selling the car you would be faced with high additional costs due to your financial agreement. So what do you need to address, 1 Financial hardship, 2 High costs associated in terminating current loan (makes bad financial sense, and huge loss to sell car) 3 unplanned pregancy has interupted future plans, however, your child will need to see doctors etc. Therefore, if is important that the child is not placed at risk due to government laws. I am certain if you present your arguement in this format you will be successful, cheers

That is one awesome ride, very well done, cheers

Personally I think that powercoating is a great option, although on an XR6 rim I would look to polish out rim face just to break up the black an then use a quality clear coat to really excentuate the wheel, cheers
-
yeah I am will Rhino, very logical, heak soak from an engine is going to be much higher than ambient temp(that is engine bay), and further simple ideas are often the best, cheers
-
I wonder why the price difference, they are identical, Cheers

You would have to spend reasonable coin in the BA to match the standard FG 0-100 acceleration times anyway, cheers.
