  1. Yeah mate, I own a 4WD and the club that I helped form at the start of last year don't mind getting down and dirty, none of the extreme off roading is compulsory and you won't be belittled in anyway if you don't have the confidence to drive any of the tracks others do. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the website on here, so if this link needs to be removed, so be it, but we are a not for profit club and I won't be making any financial gain from any members. Come check us out at The Motley Crew we have quite a few trips planned and also a forum to introduce yourself and get to know everyone. Feel free to give me a call on 0423 402 765 if you have any questions. Cheers, Ben
  2. Scour Ebay for an Asus Eee box or intel mac mini, you will be able to hide either one of these behind the dash somewhere or in the centre console cos they are extremely small, yet pack enough power for a carputer project.
  3. Blown gasket on the intake manifold or throttle body, loose bolts on exhaust manifold and/or turbo... If you are sure that everything else is tight, that's the only things it can really be.
  4. Same loom for all cars, keeps it simple for the monkeys in the factory.
  5. Wouldn't it be the plug for the TC for cars fitted with an ICC without the TC button?
  6. Look like blue ones
  7. Senna will be along soon to help I'm sure
  8. Come to brisbane, can take to you to possibly one of the best in Australia
  9. Either one of those systems will do a good job mate, but if you can afford it, go for a Mac Pro 8 core Xeon, CAD is what they are designed for and will handle anything you can throw at them. Due to all new macs being intel based, you can run windows on them without any dramas, so you won't need to repurchase your CAD program if your discs don't have a mac version.
  10. Just ask for a BA/BF typhoon lower air box and lower snorkel, you will know you have the right 2 parts if there is a big rectangular hole in the front of the box and a rubber inlet to suit that will go under the headlight. How to fit is here: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29311&st=0&p=449662&hl=f6+lower+intake+cutting&fromsearch=1 If you can be stuffed, you can just get the secondary snorkel and cut the hole yourself in the airbox. Couldn't find the link on this site, so mods please feel free to remove this link if it's inappropriate. Australian Ford Forums - How To Guide: Fitting A F6 Lower CAI Snorkel Cheers, Ben
  11. May not be a boost leak, check all the vacuum lines as well. It may have popped the vacuum line off that goes up to the BOV
  12. It's normal to hear a slight whistle from the turbo as it spools up, but to be safe, make sure all the air piping is tight, there have been a couple that have had loose fittings from factory.
  13. Have you tried putting some white out on the flange where the dump meets the cat to totally rule out that it's not the problem. As I said, mine cannot be moved by hand over to the rail, but a bit of whiteout on the flange and I can see the mark on the chassis rail where it hits. Solution to this is the get the flange removed and dump attached directly to the cat, which I will get done when I can be stuffed taking it in to get done. Being an auto, will be easy to check the mounts with load, engine shouldn't move more then a couple of inchs or so and should not clunk back down as said above.
  14. Hiro Perfomance mate, they are a site sponsor.
  15. I managed 260 with standard cat, cooler, hole cut in front of air box, K&N filter, 42lb injectors and redback quad tip system (twin 2.5") on 10psi, so you should poo in mid 200's with cat and tune, might even get to 300 if you get rid of the centre muffler. As higgo mentioned, he managed to get 287 @ 13PSI with a 3" exhaust and HF cat which would possibly have slightly smaller flow to the standard system, which is a valiant effort . Free the exhaust up and you can make more power from less boost. I make just over 300 @ 12PSI due to 4" dump and twin 2.5" system. Only thing that will be holding you back will be the cooler for high 200's. I had a monza, and when I changed tot he HDi, I gained 30RWHP from the same tune. Good luck modding it's infectious and you will be hunting for 400RWHP (300KW) before you know it Cheers, Ben
  16. Fluffy, not all birds enjoy eating a worm How badly injured is it? If it's young, you may need to feed it with a syringe with a bit of honey in to, getting water into him is probably more important though, use the same method, but if it starts fretting, stop and try again after if calms down. Birds don't have a diaphragm, so when holding him, be careful not to squeeze his chest too hard cos he can only breath with his rib cage.
  17. It's not that travelling at 110 increases your awareness, it's the fact that you spend less time on the road as compared with travelling at 80 .... this extra time to complete the journey is what will cause fatigue, and in turn possibly more accidents. Travel from Brisbane to Cairnes at 80km/hr and you will have more then one whole extra day travel time, and that's only basing it on an average of 80 as compared to average of 100, alot of the hwy is 110 north of Gympie ..... tell me how an extra 25 hours on the road is safer??? Also, our living expenses will also increase as trucking companies will not be able to move produce around the country in the same amount of time. It's a half arsed attempt at trying to resolve a problem the doesn't really exist ... the problems are the roads, not the speed!! Give us more overtaking lanes and wider shoulders and the accidents will reduce. With more overtaking lanes, there will be less people overtaking into on coming traffic, with a wider shoulder, there is somewhere to retreat to if a miss in judgement has happened, yeah sure, gonna cost millions to do it, but how much are peoples lives worth? Speed cameras are just a deterrent and don't really reduce that amount of speeding that happens on the roads...if they actually worked, then there would be no fines being issued ... yeah and fair enough, stick to the limit and you won't get booked, but really, if you're on an open road, dead straight for as far as the eye can see and no one else in sight ... are you gonna do 80?? I think not.
  18. The CAT is the restriction, won't get much more by changing anything behind it. Pretty sure the 3" dump can handle mid 300's, but you will need a good cat and exhaust behind it. What are you chasing?
  19. It's not the sound of trans fluid flowing through the torque convertor is it?
  20. Here is how mine is done, redback quad tip, but same diff really. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66624
  21. I believe the best place to go on the south side of brissy would be Elite, but they are at Archerfield. There are high performance coils available, but dunno if they are really worth the $$ that is wanted, the standard coils have supported some really high HP builds. As for the plugs, Bosch or NGK will do the trick, can be gotten over the counter at Repco.
  22. Too many factors involved to determine at what stage they need to be done ... model, kms, how the car has been treated, etc. My '04 BA made 285 with the standard springs quite happily, probably would have gone further, but I changed them due to the car having 100,000kms on the clock and I didn't know the prior service history/treatment before 60,000km. Know you don't want to hear it, but the valve springs should be one of the first modifications you do. I'm guessing the kit came with injectors? If so, can't see how it would be leaning out ... more like running really rich, you're lucky that it even started ... these things won't normally run in open loop with larger injectors. Try to avoid driving the car until it's calibrated to suit your mods, you are risking damaging your engine.
  23. Not really a sh*tty effort at all...box can handle the power ford tuned the stock engine to in most cases ... manufactures don't design cars to be modified, they design them to a price point. The gearbox was upgraded to the 6speed when the Typhoon was released, and in turn when they upped the torque in the BF...
  24. Old gearbox that was never designed to take huge amounts of torque ... pretty sure it's basically the same box that was introduced with the EA falcon, maybe even earlier when they were first available in he XE.
  25. And that's the idea of these posts ... to state that some of the rules on our roads are a bit conservative, but unfortunately these forums is as far as it will ever go ... That was the reason for Rootsters topic that is now closed ... somehow, we as car enthusiasts need to make some kind of stand, but the problem is that if we do, things could be made worse ... Here's another idea: any members ugly enough to pass as Anna Bligh? Maybe we could dispose of her and put you in her place
