Do You Think You're A Good Driver?
Slymeat replied to Never had any say Panda's topic in General Automotive Talk
There is no real answer as long as we drive there will be fatalities and injuries it's more about harm minimisation, and Joe Average tends to respond to catch phrases so that's why they use them. ie "Speed Kills" When I retire I'm going into politics, Vote 1 Sly. -
Cant be the best if youve only been a member for 10 minutes. Anyway welcome aboard nice first post.

There is no way I am getting into Tab even if he is renewed.

Do You Think You're A Good Driver?

When it comes to a bike skidding there are specialised equations which can be used all you need is the coefficient of friction for the road surface or surfaces, and the length of the skid to determine the minimum speed the vehicle/bike was travelling at and if there is an impact you then need to analyize the impact damage and factor that in. The coefficient of friction is relatively easy to calculate that said you cannot calculate the exact speed only the minimum speed to cause a skid of a prescribed length. The skid calculations are relatively easy the impact damage not so. -

For those that are a little more savy the correct way to calculate the amount of energy at the point of impact requires the calculation of an impact pulse. Which is noted as j and is measured as... j = −(1 + e) vap1 · n 1⁄ma + (rap × n)2 ⁄ Ia This too is not exact as it dosn't take into account the motor vehicles physical properties ie construction but it does negate cruising.......................... f=ma gives an average impulse force which should be fairly close, it wouldn't stand up to scientific scrutiny but it still gives the relative idea. Any object with positive mass moving at a constant speed has Kinetic Energy. -

I had no idea what he was on about ( cruising ) indeed. There are a lot more variables to force but keeping it linear keeps it simple for most, yet for some it is to complex, I should have added at the point of impact my mistake. That is why we have crumple zones, inertia seat belts, airbags etc etc to reduce the force on the occupants and channel it around the chasis but this cannot cope when speed is increased, so yes modern cars can deal with more force in an impact and cars handle alot better but human beings are still as fragile as ever and it is not neccesarily the good driver that makes the mistake it is someone else ( SOMETIMES ). Speed does not need to be the cause of a collision to play a part in the final result. -

The current drivers licence system is too easy and drivers are becoming more beligerent and less forgiving. Driving ability hasnt neccessarily degraded over time its just that drivers have no idea of common courtasy, which itself creates more and more frustration and ever more stupid driving habits spiriling out of control. Then on the other hand people are tending to rely more and more on the safety items built into there vehicles and over driving there ability, you need not be the best driver ( as the road is not a race track ) but you do need to understand you true ability and drive well within it especially when there are other road users around. The thing is when people travel at high speed they have more chance of finding their limit with tragic consequences so speed will be a factor in a lot of collisions but it is not neccesarily the only factor, and that speed might not neccesarily be above the posted limit to be a factor, but F=MA so the more speed the greater the force, with the obvious results. Proper race track defence driving courses should be manditory as should traffic classes for those who loose their licecence and they should not be easy to pass. -

Make sure his car was flashed back to the factory tune before he got rid of it otherwise it's worthless, only takes a couple of days to have it reset it needs to go to Melbourne from memory and less than $200.....

Gave it a go quite simple on the FG not sure of the effects felt OK but I need to have a bigger drive than around the street and at the moment that would get in the road of drinking so it will have to wait....

Can't think of any way better to get cold air into the turbo than a shaker, just because they came out on v8s in the 70s dosn't mean they can't be used on anything else. Turbos and superchargers were originally designed for planes and pumps in mines doesn't mean they can't be used on 4L 6's. That said let's wait to see what the new grill looks like first.

New woven alloy grills should be arriving in the next week or two should make a big difference to the front, not like the cheap plastic ones on there.
-
I actually want to put a shaker on it and it would not have looked any good with the lower grill it is still a bit stealth especially when I colour code the bottom chrome surround.Oh and I just want to be a little different, and I do realize a shaker would not be stealth, but lowered with some deep dishes it would look sh*t hot.

Fog lights are still there only because I don't know how to plastic weld but I have some ideas. The daytime runners are wired to come with the ignition so I don't need the foggies.

Stock head unit, had the whole thing done by an installer, with all new 4 gauge wiring.

So far I have the a full Rapid kit with a 100 cell cat, tune and injectors. Recent additions, Vibe SLR12TA twin 1200 Watt subs, 4 * Vibe Black Air 65v2 6" speakers rated at 360 watts each, 2 * Vibe Black box 4 channel 1000 watt amps bridged 20 have 2 * 250 watts channels each and a Lite Air Mono Block 2500 watt class AB enclosure amp. Day time running lights. Twin DVDs with 9" screens in the head rests Option Audio. UhF CB Radio, and some American mounts to save drilling into the dash to hold accesories. The front lower grill has been removed but is still a work in progress as I am going to add some fiberglass winglets where the grill was still fiddling around with the asthetics of the design though.

Last Minute Cruise Tonight! MAC PASS
Slymeat replied to XRGASM's topic in East Coast (NSW, ACT, QLD)
The boys in blue are looking at honing on the pass, and are looking at utube. They are also asking people to dob in dangerous behavior on the pass. This is not targeted at this thread just a heads up. If you post video, make sure the vehicle and driver cannot be identified. Never post video within the 6 month statutory period if naughty driving is involved that can be identified and never post ( or participate ) in criminal driving behaviour. P.s couldnt be bothered fixing the spell check errors on the iPad -
Here are some photos looks better in real life, ipad dosnt take the best of photos.... When you can see the cooler ( mine is black ) it looks brillient, have to find my camera batteries so I can take a higer res photo.
