Hey guys, I've got premium audio in the XR6 and I don't have this hissing noise period, be it low volume or off. I'm assuming the G6E is the same setup? Anyways, it's definitely a fault and I wouldn't tolerate any answer aside from it being fixed. Completely unacceptable in any car let alone one worth of 50k.

Hey guys, Over the weekend I have installed Kings SSL (KFRL-68SSL) rear springs to my FG. This lowered the rear around 20mm or so which I'm happy with. I now want to lower the front a bit - maybe 15mm or so - and I'm wondering what springs to get. I've looked at plenty of posts on the forums about people going with the SL fronts as the SSL were to low. However, when talking to the local Kings Dealer he told me that the FG already has SL front springs and I would need to go to SSL (KFFL-40SSL) for it to drop any?! Has anyone around installed the SSL fronts for the FG and what ride height (eyebrow height) has been obtained? If you have SL fronts what height was attained and what is the part number? I've got the King Springs catalogue here but don't see a listing for any SL springs. Any advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated as I'm looking at hopefully having these organized by the end of the week. Cheers Cam

I never read it till a month or two ago myself...kinda unusual for me as I'm usually that excited and want to know all the cars little quirky attributes. Maybe I should have done so earlier as it wasn't until I skipped through a few pages where I found out what the shiny thing at the bottom of my console was...the damn 3.5mm jack - it just never really grabbed my attention enough for me to actually investigate... Obviously I love my music huh...

I knew about it and played with it a bit but didn't realize it was auto only though...doesn't the manual say not to use it all the time? I know with mine it occasionally will have a little cough and splutter if I just use the "one-touch" start, like as though it only just cranked it enough...

Did you measure from wheel center to the bottom of your guard (eyebrow height) before and after lowering? I put SSL rears in my FG over the weekend, was told expect around 18mm drop and so far it has dropped around 21mm...but as turbo.vixen said they will settle over a few km's and be a bit lower then when you initially dropped it. Bigger wheels will definitely make it appear lower as some have said. Also if you haven't already, it might pay to go get a wheel alignment as well. Notol

Benny, Again cheers for your help mate. I'll be looking at pricing some DBA's again soon (as my new feet have just arrived!) and I do really wanna go with the Ferodo pads. My mate assured me that the local brake shop deals with both of these and is very reasonably priced so I'll pop in and see him early next week. Let ya know how we go. notol

I've talked to several people about the use of spacers and all have said the same thing - don't do it. There are several implications that can arise, you transfer a lot of extra load out on the studs and in severe conditions that can cause them to break. I remember reading on this forum how someone in a WRX (I think it was) flew around a corner and the studs snapped, tyre ended up hitting a child waiting for a bus. Also insurance will not cover you in case of an accident with them at fault. I'm sure a lot of people here have done the same without an issue but I really don't think people should put themselves and others on the road at risk due to this. Just my 2 cents and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong... notol

Benny, Thanks for that mate. I assumed the same because in all honesty he kept trying to sell me the Bendix Ultra Premiums (as they had them in stock), took nearly 10mins for me to get across that I would only accept the Ultimate's in the Bendix brand. He really didn't want to quote me on Ferodo so I'm assuming he didn't really "look into" it properly. He then said that he contacted DBA and they said that they would recommend the Bendix over the Ferodo... In any case, my mate just told me he can get both the DBA's and Ferodo pads - and as we all know, mates rates are next best to the free ones Just confirming though, the Ferodo pads I'm after should be: Ferodo Formula DS2500?? I've just grabbed the invoice now that I'm back at home, this is the actual price: Total Invoice: $208.25 Breakdown: 15k / 1Yr Service = $100.25 (includes Filter, fluids etc) Labour : $108.00 Oil: Magnatec FMX 10W30 = I'm pretty sure you are right and this is just a semi-synthetic. There is a magnatec that is fully synthetic but it is 5W30 I think... And yes, this was at my local Fraud dealer... Hope this helps.

Hey mate, not sure if the FG xr6 turbo is the same servicing wise, but mine cost me $240 odd. They used Castrol Magnatec for the servicing. I was told it was the fully synthetic but I'm not 100% as the invoice only shows "Castrol Magnatec".

Just gone and seen my local SuperCheap Auto store for a price on DBA 4000 Rotors and Pads and this was the quote: Rotors and pads to suit FG XR6 Turbo DBA 4000 Fronts (42107S) = $280 each DBA 4000 Rear (4505S) = $180 each Ferodo Formula Pads = $140 set of 4...(this seemed odd? ) Bendix Ultimate = $185 set of 2 Fronts Bendix Ultimate = $161 set of 2 Rear This is from Innisfail in Far North Queensland - going to shop around maybe Cairns and get some more quotes. Any thoughts on the price (to expensive etc) and other stores would be appreciated. Notol

Ta Mate. Leigh Holman's is on the list - although I've been told to only deal with him and not his lackey's. Apparently the young fellas in there caused some massive damage to a local fellas ute (bent rods etc. and the cars still in the back). But everyone's experiences are different, so I'll judge them on my personal experience, go and have a chat next Friday and hopefully things will pan out right. Any ideas if the boys up there have tinkered with some FG's yet?

Nice figures dude! I'll be heading to Cairns next Friday to go have a chat to some tuners (show holiday thankfully!) - Cape York will definitely be on the list after reading this. Was going to look at going to Tville (Aitkenvale Auto Dyno) but I'd much prefer Cairns - climate similar and bit closer to home.

Hey guys, will this system be completely pointless for my FG Turbo with only an upgraded intake, 60lb squirters and a tune? The reason I ask is that it is around a grand cheaper then some other reputable exhausts I have recently priced. Would that lack of big kw numbers grossly affect the sound? Cheers

OK here are my findings: Start car without touching brake pedal => flick Cruise on and it sits there flashing => switch cruise off => apply brake, switch cruise on still flashing. Start car apply brake => flick Cruise on and it lights up solid. So to answer your question, the auto is indeed the same setup as the manual. Cheers for solving my question to the Ford Dealership a few months back - even they couldn't explain the flashing cruise issue. Nice spotting and detective work mate!

Hey mate, I've got an FG ZF6 speed and upon reading this I can remember back to seeing exactly this happen on a trip back from Tville. The "Cruise" will just flash and I could not work out why. The only way I managed to get the Cruise to actually work again was after I pulled over switched the car off and started. It did not even occur to me it was the lack of me depressing the brake before turning cruise on - and on a separate occasion, thinking I had it worked out I pulled over, switched the car off and started again, clicked the cruise button and it sat there flashing again!! So I didn't even have to "engage" cruise, just turn it on so it displays on screen. I'll go out and check in a bit and repost to let you know...

Hey mate, I was looking at these wheels too - so I rang Tempe tyres earlier today and was told that they still had none in stock and wouldn't be able to get any for a minimum of 2 months or so... Apparently they are in real short supply and are having trouble getting them out of china. And these were the first wheels I've found and actually liked... oh well. I rang around all the places on the net I could find that stocked them (all $400 dearer might I add) and pretty much had the same thing to say. One guy said 3 weeks or so, but that was just off the top of his head, so little likelihood of that. I might give them another call later and I'll let you know how things go. Anyone else know of any similar styled dished wheels that might be worth a look? Cheers
