The 1/4 mile time for the clubby was slow and motor have tested the clubby doing 13.5 for the 400m. Maybe the conditions werent perfect resulting in slower times and if this was the case then if the clubby has done 13.5 in better conditions then what could the F6 do ?? Robbie.

It doesnt matter if you spend $2000 or $500,000 all customers should be treated equal. I couldnt think of anything worst than taking a car into a workshop feeling as though the cars not as important because it has bugger all hp and only a couple of grand spent on it. I think if the priority for HPF was the dyno comp then so be it and realistically I doubt they would have time for anything else so really there should be no promises to other customers if that's not their priority for that particular weekend. I think theres no need for people to b**ch about this thread because theres negative comments about HPF !!! I can remember so many negative threads about APS and everyone having a dig at them Even Nizpro have had negative threads but very rarely and in most cases uncalled for. But at the end of the day if someone has a genuine negative experience to talk about well bring it on because I'm sure everyone is keen to hear about the positives and negatives. $500k sounds a bit extreme and hard to justify and would assume it would cost around $50,000 - $75000 to reliably build that much horsepower. Regardless of the cost it's an awesome effort. Robbie.

I had a locked diff in my gemini and their a dog of a thing to drive around the street and especially in the wet. I mean I had difficulty going through the tight turn of a KFC drive thru !!! Robbie.

I did 13.47@104mph with an old Gtech and two weeks later I did 13.48@101mph at Calder. I think if the road is farely even and the Gtech is calibrated right I think they can give a good indication of what your car can do over the 1/4. Robbie.

Andy, The fastest ever time recorded by Motor for a stock VL Turbo was 15.28 seconds. One of my friends bought a BT1 (ex cop) VL 5 speed and with 217hp ATW it did 14.3@97mph on street tyres at Heathcote and that included a 3" mandrel bend exhaust and dyno tuned with 10psi. This was going back about 6-7 years ago so the technology being used was nothing like it is now. With a stage 1 AVO intercooler ( yes very small) and a high flow T03 running 14psi it measured 265hp ATW and did 13.11 @106mph at Heathcote. But with the development of VL's in the last few years, you could easily go under 13 seconds without much expense even if the VL was a 5 speed. Robbie.

I dont think it's outdated and it's a good benchmark to give you an idea of the acceleration of the car. Every car handles different and has good and bad qualities. Outside the car world theres always some sort of unit of measurement such the size of a block of land, speed of a pc, hp, torque, size of a house. It might sound stupid but the reality is we compare the size of a house, and its not always the largest one that will suit your needs but a pentium 3 might suit your needs of surfing the net and checking emails rather than doing the same thing on a Pentium 4 etc. Or live happily in a small house its all the same. Personally I think people take it to personally because they own a certain a car and read the opposition like Expensive Daewoo recorded a faster time in the latest motor mag. We all know how it's not a true representation of the car in the real world but will give you an idea of the power of the car etc. If people say they dont want to get fined for speeding then buy a barina. I think it's fare to say that everyone on this site would have given there T or any other car a squirt when there was no other car around on a country road or put the foot down when they say a car beside them trying to act like Peter Brock . Everyone drives on the freeway or some stretch of road at the speed limit and if need even pass a car. The car can feel more comfortable than a WRX, or an EVO but the owners of that car might think it's perfect for them or like the AWD handling. I doubt Motor or Wheels are going to change anything because theres no need to. If you dont like reading about a 0 - 100 or 0-400m then read the part of the article that analyses the qualities of the car that your interested in. Again the article is like the example in the first paragraph because the reader will enjoy reading about the interior, handling, braking or even the acceleration times it comes down to the individuals choice of what they consider important. I find it hard to believe that 1/4 mile times will dropped because a minority dont think it's a worthwhile benchmark. If your r33 with the above mentioned modes was lucky to run a low 14 qtr, there was something seriously wrong with it, when I first got mine 100% stock I got a 14.6. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just out of curiosity I'm assuming your talking about an R33 GTS and not a GTR ? Robbie.

I think it would be better in the long run to install a larger intercooler than trying to make the standard intercooler more efficient. With a decent intercooler the intake temp can be well under 20C. Robbie.

Theres been a lot of debate about the unichip V's edit and theres been main emphasis on the edit provided more low down grunt. This may sound like a stupid question but when the T first evolved the Unichip was very popular and we have to take into account that APS or other tuners were cautious with aggressive tunes to save the week gearbox in the mk 1. Is this a fare call ??? or regardless if you have the best edit tuner and the best unichip tuner and they both tune the same T for the best performance and torque curve would there be much of a difference ? It would be nice to have the workshop who setup the unichip to install and tune the edit on the same car for a direct comparison on the performance gain without additinonal mods. Robbie.

At the end of the day the winner will be the one that crossed the finish line first regardless of how much boost, NOS or HP. The fastest T in the land is a big title to have so no need to hold back on mods or even consider DYO. Whoever wins will deserve the title and Im sure at this stage of the game there will be no need to b**ch about who was running more boost, who had the biggest turbo and who has the most impressive dyno sheet. I'm sure at the end of it you guys will sit down together and enjoy a crownie. Personally I'd like to see some 9 second T's against some 9 second VL's and have some traditional Expensive Daewoo V's Ford racing. I'm sure that will be on the cards at some point once it's more common to have T's doing 9's and 10's down the 1/4. Robbie.

Adams T had less power but more torque than Spiko's Robbie.

I watched it Friday night and it was awesome. It's a classic movie containing cool car chases, great comedy, lots of sideways action, bar brawls and of course the bloopers shown at the end of the moview were hilarious. Everyone in the cinema stayed to watch them. I think they destroyed a lot of General Lees, lol. Robbie.

I checked the APS website and they have a copy of the timeslip for the 10 second run done by C&V. Plus the modifications done on XR6T's varies and they were running the unichip and not the edit, so this could attribute to the 4mph difference? Robbie.

pretty hard to get the power down in a manual that thing in auto would head for a ten.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sort of power you would want 9's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The C & V T had 385kws and only managed a 10.98@124mph with a high stall and tricked auto so the 12.3@121mph is a pretty good effort. Have you heard about specialised power porting ? They do awesome work on porting the runners of the factory inlet manifolds and can also bore out the standard throttle body, compressor covers of stock turbos. There method is similar to extrude honing as done in the USA and the only place in Australia to do it. They also make custom plenoms and everything is tested on a flow bench. Specialised power porting also make custom plenums, exhaust manifolds and basically port anything from dattos to vipers. If your interested PM me and I'll give you there phone number. Robbie.

So if stronger CV's and axles are fitted then the diff center would be next to break ? Sounds like its best to replace the lot instead of having the hastle of doing this sometime in the future especially if ya plan to run in consistently in the 9's and at high HP Levels. Robbie.
