Well you must admit if you think these cars are slow, this is the way to show you they arn't Anyway, how about just leaving it in performance auto mode, and flooring it at 58kmh? It kicks down to 1st and really throws you back in the seat. The torque is awesome edit: oh btw this would only apply to the 4sp auto. 1st gear is limited to 80kmh and can't be selected if going over 60kmh.

I thought the gearboxes were tough? Even if you wack it into performance mode and idle up to 59km/h ish then floor it has the same effect. 1st gear can't be selected if the car's going over 60km/h.

4 or 6 speed? Auto manual? I won't lie and say my first impressions on driving a T were mind blowing. It felt way too smooth, power was quiet linear and it's slow off the line. I drove an xr8 and thought it felt way faster, probably because of the menacing exhaust note. Kinda makes me think the sound/beefy exhaust note gives you the false impression of speed. If you have a 4 speed auto, flip it into manual mode, select 2nd gear, coast up to around 57kmh push accelerator flat to the floor, then push gear stick forward to engage 1st. Continue with foot to the floor action and pull 2nd just before you hit 80kmh. In past occasions this has made several of my passengers scream/comment/cry that I almost made them sh*t their pants.
  4. Ah, so that thin hose comming off the BOV is the vaccum line/hose?!!?! Confirmation please?! I'll take a pic tonight just to verify, but I take I will need to find a longer hose because I don't think it's long enough when I reverse the BOV and put the Monza filter on it. What's the size of this hose aswell?
  5. Ok guys, a bit confused as to what to do with the little hose that you need to uplug from the BOV (the one th pink arrow points to in the first pic). I bought a Monza filter, so I will have to mount the bov turned around(the same as seventytwo's pics), but the original short hose doesn't seem long enough to reconnect, and in seventytwo's pics it seems to be plugged into a hose comming from another direction?

A blue XR6T Ute was for sale for 40g a month or so ago making 400+rwkw. Think the plates were turbo 6 or boost 6 or something like that. Might want to ask on a local SA Ford Turbo site aswell: http://fordfans.forumarena.com/
  7. Sounds like diff clunk to me? Weird that ford won't do anything about it....
  8. Still far away but put me down with an XR6T. Do we get printed dyno slips?
  9. SA Member representin! When/where are these drags in Whyalla? I live in Adelaide, and wouldn't mind cruising with some Turbos/xr8's/typhoons/etc etc
  10. Okay guys I'm looking at modding my factory BOV and can't seem to find any step by step D.I.Y guides to modify it and put that air filter on it? Any help guys? Would be great if there was a sticky
  11. UPDATE BUMP! Didn't need to be passenger in an edited T to convince me to buy one, some spirited driving/drifting from an x pursuit cop who was trying to sell one privatly was enough to make me snap one up at a dealer. 2004 build, lightening strike, low kays with full leather and premium sound. Was driving it around for the last 3 hours and went through just over a quarter of the tank.
  12. Yep, if there are any auto t's out there putting out that amount with an edit, I'll buy them a 6pack of beer or something for a quick spin with me in the passenger seat.

Awesome! Also says that it includes the 12v-240v inverter. Double awesome.

The xbox has A/V cables. What kind of covertor plug is required to fit it into the ICC?
  15. Nah mate, havn't tried the manual. One of my first mods will be to toughen up the autobox and get a histall convertor, then a custom tune to hopefully be able to run 10psi reliably. Quick question, what's the weakest link in the auto drivetrain? Is it the transmission or lsd?
  16. Hey guys, Are there any DIY topics around that guide you through installing an aftermarket headunit and connecting all the stock speakers onto it? A guide to prefereably both premo and stock sound, not sure if the speakers cabling is connected the same way on both. Also can the stock speaker wire be used when installing a new headunit and speakers? Also other watch out don't do this or that tips, like airbags going off if I remove the door covers? I'll go use search now, but if anyone can help, links please!
  17. So how does one exactly spool it up in an auto? I tried doing it in the test drive with the foot brake and only got to around 1800rpm, and it was still slow off the line. Doesn't spooling it up without a stall convertor screw up your transmission?
  18. Funnily enough driving the 8 I felt as if it had more then enough power. In the T though I felt as I was wanting it to go faster and faster because it just didn't feel fast enough, which to my perception came down to the overall engine/exhaust note. I think I will stick with getting a T and seriously upgrade the exhaust. As much as the 8 put a smile on my face and made me weak at the knees, the stock T is quicker by a nose hair(on paper), but can be made to go alot quicker for cheaper in the long term.
  19. UPDATE: BLACK 2004 XR6T WITH LEATHER TEST DRIVE After being blown away by the 8 I decided I would give the T a decent thrashing and see what it really had. This test drive was done through the hills in a premium leather xr6t with 66,000k's. Unlike the first T I drove I spent the majority of the test using the performance mode, mostly in 1st and 2nd gear, this time with ALL windows down. This won't be a long winded review as I believe I know where the perception of speed comes from driving the two: the engine/exhaust notes. In terms of sound the T I perceived as being tame and reserved while the 8 is just menacing. Sound I felt was the biggest contributing factor in your perception of how fast and urgent the two different cars felt. So I walked away today feeling quiet dissapointed at the T's exhaust note. It's just not loud enough. Now I'm in quiet the predicament, as I've had my mind set on a T for so long but absoloutly love the sound and urgency of the V8.
  20. Maybe they were maced because they were acting like a bunch of obnoxious rowdy arrogant pricks and making bystanders uncomfortable?
  21. topic replied to RSK's bonza in Off-Topic
Yep, you will either need a prescription anti histamine or something strong that's behind the counter. Years ago I was prescribed Avomine, and now it's available from pharmacies without a prescrition, but you have to specifically ask for it. When they ask you what you want it for(and they will) just say hayfever. It's always worked for me, but warning: it can make you drowsy.
  22. Well I'm definitly not willing to write the T off yet. The actual roads taken today were more "drivers" roads, lots of twisty stuff, and alot of places where I could put the foot down and not worry about a low speed limit. Another observation: The T felt alot more planted and balanced. The 8 felt like the rears were on ice. Very unbalanced, hold onto dear life rollercoaster like. Awesome. If traction control wasn't enabled, I would hate to think what would have happened lol. Oh and speaking of the awesome sound, I really wonder how beasty/thunderous the T is with the centre muffler removed. Or does it just sound like another one of those farty rice canons?
  23. UPDATE BUMP: XR8 Test Drive! The last week I've been curious about the performance of the XR8 as I've never driven one before. After work today I decided to go to a local dealer and try one out. Spoiler alert: This car was absolutely brutal compared to the T I drove. With the T I left feeling disappointed, like my expectations weren’t met. With the XR8 I stepped out semi shaking trying to wipe the smile of my face. Story: The drive started off with the dealer taking it out the yard. Initially it felt just as quiet as the T. Sticking it into performance mode and into 1st proved otherwise. A quick squirt off the throttle and it hauled. Semi impressive but still short of what I'm after. I later learnt that it had alot more left. So we swapped seats and I was off. First corner I put the pedal to the floor. We punched up to 60 pretty quick and felt the traction control kicking in a few times. Impressive, but where was that brutal sound everyone raves out? Easy solution: driver and passenger windows both down. Pulling out onto the main road the car felt at ease. Smooth and quiet through traffic. As we approached an intersection I chose to turn right up a very steep hill with a 70kmh limit. Foot to the floor, bit of urgency up to about 40kmh/3500rpm, and all of a sudden it was like it turned into a monster. A massive surge of power pushing me straight back into the seat. The sound was violent. The brutal speed and urgency of the engine roaring I could only sum up in two words: f*cking crazy. The biggest "I almost sh*t myself" moments came approaching a set of traffic lights, turning left, onto a 3 lane 80 zone. Turning the corner at around 15, I nailed it, up to around 40, the car unsettled, stepping out mid apex and unbalancing at the rear a bit, traction control again to the rescue. With my foot still mashed to the floor all the way the thunderous roar and torque put a smile on my face. Insane. Conclusion: Without a doubt way more impressed with the XR8 at the moment. This test drive was much more thorough however, taking in alot of different road conditions and windows were down which gave a much better impression of speed/noise. One problem however that stood was the awful brakes. Spongy and mushy. Felt like they were about to fail and brake shudder was really apparent. Not good. Next step however is to jump back in a Turbo and see what it has. Don't want to be writing off the Turbo without a proper thrashing
  24. Have you told him of your 1/4 time? It would seem stupid for someone to ask you for a cash bet if they wern't fairly confident that they would beat you. Maybe there's more done to the car than is being disclosed.

Scary. I wonder if all the drivers will be in marked uniforms. Semi defeats the purpose of being unmarked/undercover in my opinion.
