  1. Dont bother with an intercooler, that will do nothing to aid your towing. However, a good quality trans cooler would be a good idea, which you say you already have. Not too sure about having them inbuilt into the radiator. A stand alone external would be the go.
  2. I recken you will be ok mate. I dont think your intercooler will cause any overboosting since you still have the standard restriction of the under battery pipe, and your cat back system wont effect anything. If you had changed your cat, then yes it would need a tune. You are probably using more fuel cuz you are booting it around the streets more testing to see if she has more power.
  3. Your standard shocks will be ok with f6 springs as I dont think they are much different height than xr6t springs, maybe a tiny bit lower, maybe stiffer. Personaly, I dont think f6 springs are worth the effort but each to their own. However, lowering 2 inches or so yes your shocks would be unsuitable. The shocks would 'bottom' out as your mate has discribed. I havent bought shocks for my T to suit lowered springs yet but try something like KYB, they make replacement socks for most cars, some that are also made for lower cars.
  4. Im at Narellan
  5. My BF auto has the liquid LPG system and is costing me $20 for 300km and has been tuned to 236 rwkw. It would be great if Ford actually released a liquid LPG fuel system ONLY. Therefore you could have a larger tank. My tank is in the spare wheel well and only takes max 46-48L.

    Choices ?

Personally an LSD wouldnt sway my vote. They could be had for about $1K or even a factory option?
  7. well said ms700
  8. I have a BF with liquid LPG, at the moment the savings arnt very much seeming petrol is around $1 and LPG around $0.50 in Sydney anyway. We all know petrol prices will rise, but I still wouldnt rush into the conversion.
  9. Name: Kyle Car: BF Mk1 XR6 Turbo Trans: auto 6 speed Power: 236.4rwkw Boost: 9psi Induction: Hybrid intercooler kit, K&N panel filter, 2nd intake snorkle Turbo: Stock Valve Springs: Stock Exhaust: Cat back Fuel system: Stock/Liquid LPG Power adder: CAPA flash box tuned by Autotech Engineering
  10. Im amazed in how much dynos vary. I had my BF ZF on a dyno recently and it made 200rwkw stock and up to 240rwkw. A friend had his wrx on 2 different dynos. On one it made 195atw and another 160atw same mods. I guess the real story can be told on the track
  11. I fitted a Hdi intercooler kit on my BF that used a complete cold side, thus eliminating the standard under battery pipe. I gave it a bit and felt it was boosting much more than it use to. Then I got the 'engine check' light on the dash which I assume is an overboost error. Just dont drive it too hard on the way to the tuner.
  12. Today I installed a Hybrid intercooler kit on my BFT. It was a bit of a slog, especially grinding away some of the steel bumper bar. Eventually I got the kit installed, then fitted the bumper bar. The kit has the core sitting fairly low, utilising most of the air flow under the steel bumper. However, im having issues with the core being too low and I have fitted it as per instructions provided. The under side of the bumper seems to foul on the bottom of the core, especially the passenger side making the bottom of the bumper being pushed down under the pipe work. This has made it difficult to fit the stone guard or whatever its called. The bumper has been off 3 times now, and every time its off and on its fitment just gets worse. How do other intercooler kits fit compared to this? Do other kits have issues with the lower part of the bumper?
  13. I have ended up buying some plugs from the ford dealer. The factory denso plugs are gapped at 0.9 anyway, though I have tapped them down to 0.85. The LPG plugs are gapped at 0.7, could be suitable also. Paid $11 each with no trade discount.
  14. I attempted replacing my fuel filter today. For the love of god, I just couldnt get it loose. I managed to get the rear nut loose, and that was using a larger adjustable spanner of all tools. The front one now has a rounded nut. I even resorted to vice grips but that failed as well! I cut a section of my 14mm ring spanner to try and get a good fix on the nut and that even stripped it. Tomorrow I will try the local ford wrecker for a new pipe.
  15. I did some searching on these forums about what spark plugs are being used. I cam up with NGK iridium plugs p/n BKR6EIX. I read they would be around $12 each. I have been to 2 different shops and they gave me a price a bit over $20 each. The car is getting a tune next week so im keen to get everything running nicely. I dont want to pay $125 for plugs so should I get some new standard plugs and gap them to 0.8mm or even gap my current plugs to 0.8mm? The car has done 55,000km.
  16. yeah that's it, a complete Hdi cold side Im going to call up and see if I can book in tune this week. If I can, I will post some pics of the Hdi cooler install
  17. the kit uses some of the hot side rubber hose but uses a complete Hdi hot side
  18. Ive purchased the Hdi kit off ebay but havent got around to installing it yet. I think its a good price and seems like its actually a full kit ie. comes with everything. Detailed instructions are included also. Not the biggest core though, it wont stick too far up under the fixed steel bumper bar but I guess that area is a waste anyway. I recken it would suit around 300rwkw.
  19. Ive noticed a bit of oil on the floor of my garage which seems to be comming from the turbo inlet pipe and under battery piping. Im sure its just the crank case venting back into my intake. I was under the car the other day replacing the screen filter for the oil feed line to the turbo and had a good look at the plumbing at the turbo side of the engine. Below the turbo its oily and dusty as to be expected. So how much is normal? I know a catch can will catch the oil, but the xr6t engine bay doesnt offer decent positions to mount a catch can. In a week or so im fitting an intercooler kit and dont want the new cooler and pipes covered in oil. Although should I be concerned? Its only getting a tune using the standard injectors. Should I bother with a catch can?
  20. I picked up one of these kits off ebay for $575, gotta pick it up tomorrow. Sounds like it will suit mu needs.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

my BFt brakes were machined at around 40k and the shudder hasnt come back so far at 60k. Id say the fix you are after is replacing the disks with a better quality aftermarket disk.

    Fg Back To Ba/f

I certainly wouldnt want to step back into a ba-bf with at least 50,00k's. Hang out for another interest rate drop!
  23. Is that the new HDi kit? Looks great, how was the fitment...I can see a hacksaw on the ground in the photo Im confused when it comes to the Hybrid stuff. I thought Hybrid was taken over by Saber? Saber have an intercooler kit where the hot side runs behind the radiator near the fan shroud. This one is different though..Hybrid, Saber Hdi(hybrid) all the same company?
  24. I have a liquid system and am happy with the gauge/display that comes with the kit. Its a bit up and down when the gas gets low but I guess you just get use to how it works. I still get the average fuel and instant fuel shown on the dash, dont know how it still works though
  25. This is good info. Main reason for starting the topic was to make sure I just wasnt trying to talk myself out of a intercooler upgrade
