Mate if ya undo the 2 x10mm bolts from the expansion tank and lower it near the turbo as long as it is below the stat you wont lose anything.. I leave the cap on tight and crack the 2 1/2" bolts... I lose 300ml max and just flush the area with water HTH... How to replace your thermostat... Ok so first up get a container and don't let the coolant escape down the drain... secondly this takes around 10mins max so give it ago ... Step 1: Wait till the motor is cold and leave the expansion tank cap firmly in place... Step 2: Grab a 1/2" socket and remove the 2 bolts from the housing... Step 3: The old stat will either be attached to the upper housing or still in the hole awaiting some persuasion with a screwdriver Step 4: Replace the O'ring and stat and fitting is a reverse of the above... Step 5: And don't forget to rinse off any spillage and run the car and check for leaks... Easy eh? Now top up your coolant but if you have done this correctly you will only lose 300mls MAX
