it's harder to tune as you need to adjust the manual controller and then separately adjust the tune

It's easier to tune because you are just winding a screw rather than changing several tables and a half a dozen parameters. Using a boost tee means it will have a massive mid-range hump then fall over up top, so it's a bit sh*t in that regard and that's why you wouldn't do it that way.

already got dropping off at 3800rpm (from 9psi to 6)

Yerp that's what you will see and it's the opposite of what you would want to see with a skinny rod motor. If you are using a NA pcm such as your case, you can just buy a cheapish electronic boost controller and you'll be sorted. It'll hold the boost flat until red line which will give you a lot more power, without putting too much boost into the mid range.

The problem is you then need a RPM generator device to work in with aftermarket EBC or they do exactly the same thing as a Boost T will…. MSD do a Tach driver device that you wire in, connect to the EBC then you’ll have controllable boost targets “IF” the wastegate/Port/Flap are set up correctly also !

hey @JETURBO  thanks for the response man.
basically, all I am wanting to do is flatten the boost curve.

its a fully stock set up
FG rear housing/B series Garrett actuator
it wasn't ported. was told by a few people that it wouldnt need to be.

It’s the same as every EBC these days… I’ve never used the GFB one but it suggests the same characteristics…

That’s why the pinnacle of EBC’s ( Turbosmart EB2 ) offers RPM input fir this reason, if a vac line could do it all then they would ;)

Yeah there are limitations for sure, when we're talking na conversations budget is usually the main deciding factor in parts choice.

For all of that malarkey a turbo pcm is probably a better choice, I saw them available for $440 recently.

Specific to the vehicle in question, we have no decent boost control now, maybe an actuator/spring change will do the job? It might need wg porting but it's a very cheap and easy to implement option.

Agreed… cost being the factor definitely go factory or a flat out spring and or T for $90
