Guys,

It looks like a few on the forum might be using Crow brand valve springs.  They're listed at a tad under $215.

Any feedback on the use of these springs in the XR6T?  No spring binding issues or other problems?  They give good service?

What's the consensus of opinion on the best brand of spring to use?

Crow with retainers can touch the rockers and people fluff it up like it's an issue but there's no dramas with crows and yeild huge kms with high boost without going soft so yeh great springs

So what happens when they touch the rockers?  Anything?  A slight ding?

Nothing worth mentioning honestly except a light rub mark on the retainer top

Thanks Jeturbo.

Looking at what you wrote, I realised that the Crow retainers are an extra $170 or thereabouts.  Just a tad under $400 for parts.

I'll guess that it's not the easiest job to fit them.  Cylinders have to be pressurised to stop valves falling into cylinders?

So everybody is using the Crow springs?  There's no other brands in use?

Essentially, yep. Valve spring tool plus compressor makes it a "relatively" easy but time consuming job (except those pesky rear cylinder ones :) )

most seem to use crow. There's various other brands (plazzy/nizzy/PW etc). Shop around if you want.

Yeh the kit is more expensive than the spring only brands

I've fitted nearly every brand available and crow with retainers are my pick of the bunch for big boost and atomic stage 1's for typical medium stuff

there's no need to over "spring" the valves especially if you're not going big boost

if this is the case go the atomic's as they are spring only and suit stock retainers

I've put about 100,000km on a set of Crows that XFT fitted, if that helps matters.
