These cars use the fuel they do to maintain temp in the cat. If you f*ck off all the calibration for the emissions I have no doubt you can really improve the ecomony

Factory tune in closed and open loop are mainly focused on emissions and not economy

The in car economy reader is no where near accurate. I reset mine when I filled up and I done 110 kay's then filled up again and had used 26 litres of eflex. And the in car reader said I was doing 17l per hundred. It's not accurate.

I was of the assumption that the onboard meter was 'fairly' accurate?

When I was on 98 and 42lb injectors I thought the same. I'm guessing when I'm under full throttle now it goes above what it can read and that's when it uses the fuel.

I think its relatively accurate if you are on closed loop all the time.

The O2 sensor gives it a reference point where it can calculate the fuel quite well.

However if you are on open loop WOT then it could be off by quite a bit I would think.

In regards to the Cat Control affecting fuel economy. These can be disabled and I will do a back to back to see how much it affects fuel economy.

if cat control is in operation, it is very very rich when activated, but will not normally be activated under normal driving conditions

Do most tuners elect to disable cat control?
