Malware bytes' anti malware is good (mbam)

If it's got the clap bad try combofix but it's not pretty and is a bit technical. I only use that in bad cases.

If you get a bug that hides all start menu items, do not clean temp folders of pc or run scanners, turn off and take to pc shop as your shortcuts are marked as hidden and placed into temp folder. If PC shop knows about this bug it is reversible with some googling.

Its not a virus its a hardware issue on a brand new laptop.

just bought a brand new HP laptop with windows 8. got it set up, thought it was pretty good, still working on nutting out windows 8 app system, but the real problem is this :

it shuts down randomly. it might me after a few hours, sometimes its as its booting up. no warning, just "black screen, turns off".

Edit: scratch that I now see your talkin about J@... :banghead:

If you don't take it back to the shop within 7 days of purchase they'll send it away for repair rather than swap it straight over for a new one. I got caught by that with a faulty monitor once.

Yeah you gotta hit em up for DOA instead of normal "faulty but under warranty". DOA is way better.

My sis bought a Sony Vaio for like $2500 a while ago. Now it's a slow pos, but she never looks after it. Her partner bought a new hp so I'm gonna try and tax the Sony.. I don't need a laptop but a free one I could use haha.. So my question is would formatting it restore some life back? Would I need to do anything specifically laptop related? I'd only be using it when my phone gives me the sh*ts and mostly to view web pages. I don't play games or anything like that.

Laptops are a waste of money/time get a tablet.

They can now do everything a laptop does without having to close the lid, lug it round or boot up.

Replace the HDD with a SSD if you want a really performance improvement.

I call bullsh*t too

how many tablets have usb or network ports and how much work is it to run windows or linux?

only thing a tablet is good for is to look something up on the net quickly or sales guys but I use my phone to quickly get on the net so I guess the only use for a tablet is when selling sh*t.
