so im looking at getting an exhaust in the soon to be future but my biggest problem is choosin between mild and stainless steel exhausts.. I know mild rusts and stainless handles that alot better but the amount of time it may take for a mild steel exhaust to rust or cause issues may not be an issue..

so im after feedback from anyone who has dabbled in this and for the record it will be turbo back, dont see the point in doin half of it

My rear section after the cats is mild steel. Been on there for 8 years I think. Externally

It's just a bit brown. But if you look down the stainless tips into te mild section it joins onto its pretty sad:(.

Having said that I'd say 10 years would be a good lifetime for a mild steel exhaust?

Exhaust joints been using mild steel since before beer was invented by me. If rust was major concern then they would of switched to stainless.

If your tryin to save coin, or keep the weight down then mild steel is the go. If you want to impress your friends then stainless.

so will a mild steel be fine for the dump and car too?

as staino knows, I was told recently that mild steel would melt from the turbo heat. lol

Mild steel will be fine, but as the exhaust gas cools water vapour forms ,a mild steel rear muffler will eventually rust out.

I've heard that too, can't think of any companies that do mild steel dumps that must be why.
