No-one hurt is the main thing and most of the kit you had still looks usable. I'd be getting the motor and gearbox checkout though after an impact like that. How many of the wheels and brakes are ok? might be cheaper to get a stock xr6 ute and drop all the gear into it and then a tornado kit. Would answer a lot of other threads about mods=insurance payouts. Interesting to see what they say. On a side note, ive come across a few panel beaters in the last 6 months who hate dealing with aami. Couldnt figure out why. R-SPEC You are a dead set goose Silver Donating Members 3,968 Member For: 19y 5m Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 01/02/10 06:12 AM Share Posted 01/02/10 06:12 AM With most insurance companies, they must replace new for old if the car is still under new car warranty. If you have an accident and they've installed dodgey second hand gear then Ford would have an issue warranting it if something went wrong.I've been dealing with Just Car Insurance and because mine is a non-fault claim I've had no issues, however I'm battling with them now to just get the car written off instead of them spending $30k on fixing it. So far they've offered me $44,800 which they think is the current market value. My lease payout is a little more than that, but if I were to sell it privately I'd be lucky to get $40k for it as it’s modded with high k’s (83,000). So this seems to be the best option for me, take a small loss now as opposed to trying to sell it for $40k with a front end collision on it’s books! Tim Member 142 Member For: 16y 9m 18d Posted 01/02/10 08:38 AM Share Posted 01/02/10 08:38 AM Yeah the airbag sensor is behind that yellow bit of metal which protrudes forward near the bonnet latch area. doesn't look very damaged there at allThe sensor doesnt have to take a hit for the air bag to deploy. It just needs to detect the deceleration of a crash. The front hit doesnt look big enough for the air bag to deploy. And given that you were able to walk away I would say it calculated correctly. It is a big rear hit though. Glad your OK. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/65545-crashed-f6/page/7/#findComment-977048 Share on other sites
