Sounds good...

But will there be any issue with the tornado PCM? I would have thought there would be some differences in the way it controlls a ute as opposed to the sedan? I'm probably out of my league here though... I hope it all works!

The PCM really only controls the engine and sends signals to ABS, RCM (air bags etc) and the trans, so I can't see there being any issues.

The only potential for a conflict is the RCM, but I have a BF RCM, and the Tornado would have pretty much the same restraint system as the sedan, so I hope it will work :spoton:

So does the pcm have anything like the vin or chassis number programed into it, if only the trans and pcm are swapped into a new car will it comunicte with the ecu and other moduls

Well lessons learned for this exercise are:

If anyone wants to do this to a BA, then the best way forward is to make sure you have ALL modules and the trans from the same car, and ideally this car is the same body shape as the one you are transplanting it into.

If you move all modules and the trans, it will all work first time.

Wiring can be transplanted or new, it shoould make no difference, provided you can get the right wiring looms from Ford, as their catalogue is far from perfect in specifying what looms fit in which car, and with which accessories.

WOO-HOO :w00t2:

Thanks to Simon from Xtreme Ford Tuning, I now have 6 gears

Thank you Simon, you're brilliant :spit::spit::spit:

Through the intricate knowledgew of the tunes in the EDIT box, he managed to turn a switch on or off (I'm not sure), but either way, it allows the trans to change gears normally, even though it still is not entirely happy, and still flashes the PRND display on the dash.

As soon as I get the Tornado PCM, I am hoping this will all be history :spit:

Simon asked me to be gentle on her, but first impression, SMOOTH mate smooth

1st is real low with the 3.45 diff, but not undriveable, so I will try this for a while.

Real relief to see that it all works :spit:
