What Have Ford Done

Whats going on with the MK II T's and XR8 it seem's that the T is getting slower with a 14.8 in the june edition motor mag compared to last month's motor mag were the xr8 did a 13.9 :smilielol: ,It sounds to me that they might be holding back the MK II XRT to boost up the XR8 and GT sales

CYA JEFF :smilielol:

PS:Both cars are 6 speed manual's

The T has been getting slower since late '03 when Motor registered a 14.1. Conspiracy theory :smilielol:

Hmmm yes it does look a bit strange :smilielol:

Isn't this 2 months in a row that a car mag has the once mighty T running 14.8s ??

Looks like Aniken will be given stock mark 2s a run off the lights :smilielol:

Looks like they have taken the previous sh*t Phoon map and put it in the T. :smilielol: Looks like the Edit boys will need to put on a few extra bods doesn't it

It's not unusual for cars to get 'slower'..

the EVO series for example.... the early ones pulled 13.8's out of the box, graduating to the EVO VI which ran 13.3's in stock form. The newest E8 now runs high 13's again....

They have to stop somewhere, otherwise in 15 years, we'll all be driving around in 11 second factory Falcons.

They up the power, along with the weight to keep it on a level playing field.

I heard the word is overboosting was causing some MKII's to fail. so, dropping the boost is obviously a cheaper and quicker solution than fixing the overboost problem.

The XR8 and GT sales aren't suffering, they're pretty good actually. There would be no need to "pump up sales" by lessening one it's own products...

that's like Coke changing the flavour of regular Coke to "pump up sales" of Diet Coke.

Dave.

I know after my flash im getting faster times from high 14's to low 14's and even a 13.98. I tend to think that all stock t's are becoming aligned in power eg the slower ones would feel a increase but the freaky fast ones would feel a drop. There is no real power or boost decrease , A manager at Ford ensured me that the difference is in the torque line and delivery which is now MUCH smoother. Hence the power comes on smoother. It may not feel fast but its moving. I am pulling from stock monaros and VZss's with ease but it dosnt feel quick. With medias bagging of the T I feel they are crapping on to sell

Well then how could you explain the 14.8 quarter mile times the mags are getting from the mk11 T's...

I doubt it mate.

Anyway, to make the XR8 quicker would be a smarter move than making the XR6T slower. And if you think that would threaten the GT/GT-P's, who cares. For purists that think GT should be the quickest thing on the road, yes maybe, but remember back in the day of the Hoeys, there was no XR6/8 to knock them around. My point??? There doesn't necesarily have to be a pecking order of performance, that's just a notion created by upset disgruntled GT owners who get whooped by cheaper cars.

I agree its a sh*t time and I myself dont understand it but it could of been a bad start, hot day, the engine could of been extremly warm, Expensive Daewoo could of paid $$$ to make it 14.8 :stirthepot: , There are a number of factors. But through the article they stated the turbo went into limp mode so to me its sounds like a troubled T and possibly without a reflash...
