Fellow Victorian's!

Wife and I are looking to go to Melbourne around the end of September for a long weekend holiday, she has never been to Melbs. I have been once but only for 2 days to see a band.

Looking to stay around the Melbourne CBD area, any places you recommend staying? Not looking for a high end hotel deal. Looking for a place that is nice and fairly priced :)

Will be there from Sept 22-25th

Cheers legends!

Melbourne around that time is FOOTY mad because of the finals... so if there's footy finals on in Melbourne that week, then it'll be an interesting time to be here haha... but it really depends what you want to find out about Melbourne... tourist stuff? a specific thing or idea?

Tourist stuff, explore, walk around, see sh*t, drink, eat. 😂

Looking at Hyatt, seems pretty nice for the price!

EDIT:

We are not footy fans so good spot! We'll have to book asap then 😋

well, there's so much to do in Melbourne you'd be shocked haha just walking around the CBD you'll find hundreds of quality restaurants and late-night-specific things to do. During the day the city is just completely different and more focused on the work-goers so there's less "entertainment" and more "get this done" sort of attitude amongst the people and the businesses alike, but of course daytime is when the "see things tourist locations" are open and ready for action.

I seriously recommend the dry-aged steaks at https://beefstouw.com/restaurants/melbourne-australien  if you're looking for a top-notch quality steak.

Check out https://www.theurbanlist.com/melbourne for anything specifically food or entertainment related.

Check out https://www.broadsheet.com.au/melbourne

for anything to do with art/design/fashion/general-entertainment.

I recommend hiring a car or finding somebody to drive you around just to get a feel of the size of Melbourne and see a few of the "sights" that you might be interested in. Or just stay close to the CBD and follow the action.

oh, @biddie_fiddler, forgot to add, if you like great tasting coffee or specialist coffee pours that enhance the great tasting normal espresso-brewed coffee... or italian/greek homeland style food, because we have the 2nd largest Italian and Greek populations outside of Italy and Greece haha, then you'll be coming to the right place :)
