There are alot of people needlessly destroying their auto gearboxes at moderate power levels.

My gearbox Guru here in Brissy has told me to leave the box alone, just change oil every 10,000k's & fit a big cooler, which I'm about to do. He said that I'll only shorten the life of the box with the type of mods available.

I'm going to put the later model power steering cooler in my early series & install my trans cooler underneath the Intercooler were the original steer cooler was.

Most certainly an oil cooler and changing oil regularly helps. Increasing line pressure has its downside if done too much as it loads the oil pump more, however the mod I do only operates under load, so otherwise the car drives as it left the factory.

However having a faster shifting box actually prolongs the life of the box, the softer shifts are just there because people like a soft drive.

In the next few months I will be putting heaps more power thru the box and time will tell how strong my trans mods are. I have been putting about 230rwkw thru the box for a while and it shifts excellent. Without my mods the box simply WOULD have been destroyed by now. I bet you time will show that my Trans Mods are the best auto trans mod that can be done for this transmission.

I got my kit in the mail today. Here is a pic.

I won't get a chance to install it till latter in the week though. When I do I'll post pics and give an opinion of its effects and how it changes drivability.

Hey George, that's the top of the range model which is adjustable. It costs $105. There are 2 other models which are $55 and $95 I think. All the details are on the web site.

HERE is a link to the installation instructions

Can guys out there that are able to do this sort of thing tell me if I should be able to install it myself? I have done the window switches and it looks pretty simple.
