  1. When Eastern had the car they cut the pipe to the actuator, they reconnected it by putting a tube between the ends, no clamps nothing, no wonder it came off.
  2. Thanks Bevan, boxes have arrived at Robins. Had a run with no boost control, boost alarm went off and I think that it had a big rattle, then the next WOT run at the drags two weeks later got the smoke out the back. Cause of the lack of boost control was the pipe coming off the actuator.
  3. Head came off today and low and behold piston damage. No5 worse than No4 , only have good picture of No4. All the others look perfect. Also defect on No4 on the turbo side, No5 on the plenum side. Barrels slightly marked so should be good for a rebuild not a complete short.
  4. Just an update. Definitely no new turbo, budget just doesn't allow. Thinking now is an ETM stage One, which I can afford. That is a stock turbo externally gated with manifold and dump. Looks fantastic, my only concern is will I notice enough difference to justify going down this route, as I would be still using the stocker, although as Leigh pointed out I could use a T04Z wheel on it. Alternative may be to wait and save a few thou more for a bigger turbo. Too many alternatives.

  12. Well the build of my engine will be starting soon, engine came out today. So if funds allow I will be getting a manifold and possibly a new turbo. Choice is TO4Z or ?. What's the next cab off the rank. Would like 500rwKw, if I had to name a figure, must run easy mid tens for a time to aim for. Why mid tens, then I would be kicked and have to put a cage in. It's a wife thing LOL. So my understanding is that the TO4Z would go 450 or so but what would run to 500? Thanks.

  14. Just looking to run low 11s and using the NOS for a high 10 on the stock turbo. Way fast enough on the street as it is. ZF is an issue as you know. Alternatives are expensive.
  15. The money is for the engine, tailshaft, diff and NOS.
  16. At last an update. Car finally made it to the workshop, looks like it leaned out No 5, spark plug tip gone and compression way down when tested. Motor now coming out for a complete assessment as to whether it's a rebuild or new Atomic short. At least I'm making progress.
  17. Guy called Jim over on FF.com had one to those specs in Perth, including those wheels. Think Simon tuned it to over 300rwKws. Guy has a turbo now I think.

  19. Hi, Will be buying a new short engine and the choice is 600 or 900. I guess projected output would be 500 rwkw but there's always a chance for more, though unlikely as the ZF may not like being run at that level. Any reason not to buy the 600? Also how noisy are they? Have heard one from a couple of years ago that waslike a bucket of nails even when warmed up. I know they are never going to be silent. Thanks.
  20. It's actually 17psi, but I take your point. All runs have been on the same dyno, 234 stock then 300 with no cat and injectors, then full Plazmaman induction inc plenum, 60lb inj, turbo back exhaust twin 2.5 no cat, PW surge and pump to give the last dyno of 400. Anyway it's broken atm so all is academic.
  21. Like the doors idea, fibreglass bonnets seem to be a little expensive though. Would have stripped the car for this final weekend of racing, but not to be. Bloosted, that's why I was posting, for the claimed rwkw my mph is too low. With an extra 50rwkw after the last tune I should have made more than an extra 5mph, don't you think?
  22. Maybe the fact the engine needs a rebuild may account for the lack of speed? Also during the last drag meeting, before the 'incident' the hose came off the actuator and she over boosted (alarm went off on the boost gauge). I tried to put the car on a DD to run Shoot6, operator backed off as the car was boosting 21psi at half throttle. Later I found the hose off. Next drag run a couple of weeks later, well you know the rest. Maybe something or nothing?
  23. Can the OBDKey datalog? ie record engine data from a drag run?
  24. He is 'coming to the party' Trying to find a $20k budget these days is not easy. But I reckon that's what it's going to take.
