Electronic Controlled Exhaust Finally Fitted

The valet is a little bit of insurance for me, that's the reason I wanted to keep it there. I had that problem last week with a lost shim so put the valet in for that fix up cos I wasnt there. It's tuned with a very smooth ramp up compared to my 300kw tune, I would guess the power under 3500 is a little lower with the 2b, at 4000 it's pretty much the same as 1, and over that there's a huge difference. I was more concerned about it being safe at WOT with 2b and was happy to accept whatever lower boost level I got with the flap shut. As it is with the flap shut, it's about 2psi lower overall on average, but at 4000 it does still hit 15psi at max load then drops back to around 13-14. I haven't had time to log it all cos it was only about a 5km run last night. Next dyno day I'll be there. The tunes have totally different characteristics, and suit different themes. Tune 1 is a great all rounder and the best tune I've ever had. Tune 2 is perfect for track work with the flap open and only suffers slightly shut. -

FFFFFFFFFar out! What a huge difference. We got it tuned and I had to run off but later on that night went for a spin through the hilly section of a private track I own, wooooohoooooo. Talk about revs and top end power, it sits at 4000rpm and has that much more grunt to the limiter it feels pretty much like free revs, but it's constantly sideways,,,woooohoooo. Awesome. Need the RE55's again. Very very smooth power delivery the way it's tuned, totally controllable on opposite lock so it's going to be awesome on the track. Maybe just a little bit of fine tuning but I won't know till after Winton. Turn the butterfly off and it's back to a lower boost level, but still good on the street. Just nice, thanks Headsex. I now have 4 tunes in my box!!!! 1 is the 302RWKW street tune. 2a is the closed butterfly race tune. 2b is the open butterfly race tune,,,full bore. 3 is my valet....LOL. Top stuff. -
I have a Hyperflow, has inlet and outlet on same side but no restriction cos the tanks are top and bottom, not on the sides. They flow really well, and still cool after a few dyno runs. The only disadvantage with same side is you can't upgrade with the shorter pipe kits etc.

Good pics, do you work for a newspaper?

Yep I see what you mean. I'll see how it goes at Winton next Friday, and if it's too loud I'll definately put a small hot dog on it. It all depends how long I can take the noise for, but with the helmet on and the radio earphones, it might be ok. -

I did that about 5 times last night,,,,,faaarrrk it was funny. You shoulda seen their faces light up. I went to Sandown but was pretty late, got ther abt 12.30 this morning. There were a few there but I didnt recognise anyone. OPened it up at the lights though, I just need that retune,,,awwww, so I can at least get it on boost. Man it's funny. -
Yep might be able to make it, depends if the wife is going out and what the girlfriend is doing... :fear (5): hehehe where you meeting up?

From the Heraldsun; POLICE are investigating whether speed was a factor in a spectacular crash that two young men trapped in their car. The men were travelling west on Ferntree Gully Road at Ferntree Gully shortly after midnight when the driver lost control of the Ford Falcon XR on a bend near the Burwood Highway intersection, police said. The car skidded for 120 metres, then rolled, trapping the pair. The driver, 24, and his passenger, 18, were taken to The Alfred hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Electronic Controlled Exhaust Finally Fitted

Yeh I'm looking at putting a sidepipe in cut through the skirt. Just getting everything sorted out at the moment with the electronics, finished that off tonight with the switch next to the handbrake. I put that small bend in to keep the flames away from the box and try to keep it cool. I think I'll put some heat shield next to the box as well. I don't have a digital video cam so can't put up any vids, but if anyone wants to take footage feel free to PM me. Comparison?? There is none! It's black and white, pretty extreme straight through, and quiet as a mouse normal..LOL. What a sleeper. :LOL What format video is normally used. Could probably use the phone cam but the sound is awful. -

Yeh the tunes perfect. I got him to tune it real gradual with smooth power delivery, very different to a drag tune, so the power is actually a little lower than it could be. But for my style of driving on the track, it's how I like it. headsex said we could get a lot more out of it but the characteristics are quite different. My original tunes from coughHPFcough put me in some pretty awkward situations on the track, plus they were way down on the headsex tunes. I can't wait for Winton....even Eastern Creek is tops. -

Hey senna, it has the hyperflow IC with the stage 2 piping. Flows pretty well and keeps cool. I'm running about 15psi to get over 300, but 13 gives me 290. That I don't mind on the street, but as long as I get 310-320 for the track that's fine. The tyres and suspension are having a difficult time handling that on the track anyway, even when I use the RE55's the shocks are at their limit. I need more $$ for the DMS suspension, maybe in the new year?? -

Argh,,,I forgot to put that in. Stainless Y pipe complete $80 3 1/2" butterfly valve complete with stepper motor. $280 delivered. All flanges/pipes/bends etc plus labour to fit. $120 Me to wire up the electronics FREE. I tried to get the valve from QTP in the states but they supply to Rocket Ind in Sydney and wouldn't sell direct so for a few extra $$ it was ok. All up under $500 Yep, getting retuned on next week, but cos I've already done the wastegate porting etc it will only need a faily minor change to drop the duty cycle back a little in case of overboost. It hits 17psi pretty quick when opened. I'll leave it on the new tune cos with the butterfly closed the boost will be lower, maybe down to 12-13psi or so which is quite ok. Back under the 300kw mark, but open butterfly will be 14-15psi and back over 300 anyway. We'll find out next week. -
Finally got around to getting all the bits and fitting the new system. It's a 3 1/2" stainless Y piece that directs exhaust through the standard system, centre muffler gone etc, however the other side of the Y junction I've installed a 3 1/2" butterfly valve, similar to a throttle body, that at the flick of a switch opens and directs the airflow straight out the dump. Sounds awesome, way way too loud for the street, but great for track days and a blast up the mountains on a cold winters evening when it's nice and quiet. Getting a retune this weekend so it should be ready for the next track day. Big Trev---I'll switch it off when I come up the front straight at Winton so you don't black flag me,,LOL Here's some pics.

I had a chat with them last year when I was looking at upgrading mine. They do a lot of stuff for the Marque Club, and a mate that races in the Porche Cup swears by them. Fairly well priced for what you get, plus they also do a lot of custom Bilstein rebuilds.
-
Very similar to this. They're an adjustable slotted shim. I've actually got one that fell out in the driveway.
-
Just got word from Ford. The shims from the wheel alignment fell out! Not a warranty item cos it's aftermarket. Maybe they didn't do them up when I put the new wheels on?? Hard to say considering I've done some twisty's runs in the meantime. No damage at all cos I didn't drive it so that was good. Will cost me $100 or so and pick it up tonight. It was good riding in to work this morning though, may do that more often..
-
ROFL, you know that's the first thing I looked at in the mirror!!!!LOL. Thought someone was havin a go and stuck and aerial under my wheel.
-
Glad you're OK mate. Guard rails and wire rope barriers, not a bikers best friend.
-
I had a problem with the creaking steering as did quite a few others here. Etheridge in Ringwood fixed it up fine. Seems a common thing. Sorry can't give more advice on that 1 but there is a thread on it somewhere.

On my way to get another mod done this arvo and rolled the T out the driveway and heard a weird noise like I'd just run over a steel grate over a drain. Nope, backed up, it did the same thing, took it around the corner and couldn't see anything under the car. Drove out onto the street then a few clunks later I decided to pop around the corner into a nice quiet street just in case. Something else fell off the front end somewhere banging under the car as I was pulling up from about 40kmh. Couldn't find what fell off, got me stumped where it is, but the front passenger side wheel is rattling around like it's not bolted on, but it is. Waited 3 hours for a tow,,,,WTF,,,,couldn't believe it. Anyway, she's at New Oak Ford now, they'll be checking it out tomorrow. Don't know whether it's got a collapsed ball joint, or bolts fallen out of the control arm or something?? No eyed deer. Will update tomorrow....

Man,,,,oooohhhhh, Laner glad you're ok mate. Hope it gets sorted soon, new one on the cards I guess...... Glad everyone is ok though..
