  2. Gramps was saying those things go into lockup pretty smartly?? Are you flaring on late changes?? Or was the squealing due to something else? Wheel spin related?? ← Yeah they go into lockup pretty smartly, but not if you select a tall gear before the lockup engages. Example, take-off from standstill, apply 3/4 throttle, and keep pulling the selector through the gears. You'll find the car will be driving on the stall, and then attempt to lock the converter. Problem is, too much load being transmitted through the converter for it to lock. Hence the squeeling noise. By allowing the converter to lock, and then applying the throttle the problem does not occur.
  3. Interesting post Simon. However, I don't think it should concern you too much if someone else lunches an engine because they've tinkered with the car themselves. None of the car's I've tuned have ever had an engine failure, and as you may be aware, I tune these things on a part time basis. Some of the so called professionals in this field do not have the same track record. Let's not be too concerned about what an amateur might do with his own 'quick tune' software whilst some of the pro's are still struggling. Sure, GM Motorsport may be regarded as one of the best, but Sam's Performance, HP-F, G&D and even our friend Street Tuner from LS1 Edit.com.au offer just a good level of service, at a better rate. Mail order tunes can be had from reputable tuners from as little as $250.00 The sooner another tuning product becomes available the greater the benefit for the consumer.
  4. Not until I have my time beaten. I'd think that will be this week. Then I'll pull my finger out and make an effort. ← Here I was thinking it was 'coz you rooted your tranny?? ← Nope, tranny is fine ← What was the issue?? ← TC lockup anomily, just had to revise my shifting technique whilst we are awaiting the ZF software.
  5. Mate, I'd probably just do a custom tune at this stage, but depending on the model you have if it's a BA/BAII I'd replace the cat too. The tune only should cost you no more than $250 plus dyno time, add around $500 to replace the cat including the cat.

  7. Maybe the $2500 bottom end is the go from FORD ? for 300-350 RWKW Ideas ? ← That my friend is probably the most cost effective solution. Any of the engines from 05/06 are basically a F6 engine, which should be capable of supporting 350-400rwkw dependant on the tune.
  8. finally someone agree's with me!!!!! as to the main reason I have seen for rod failure its been rod bolts cylinder preasures due to torque have not been an issue for me but seen a lot of bent rods due to detonation though ← So what do you think causes the rod bolts to fail? I'm of the opinion that over-revving the engine has a large part to do with it. The same can be said about oil pump gear failures.
  9. Close. Take a look at http://www.dma.org/~ganotedp/85th.htm I have a great interest in flying and commercial aviation. I've never flown with a disabled pilot/co-pilot at the controls, but have to share the road with disabled drivers As harsh as it sounds, I question the logic of people driving with the inability to quickly react (both physically and mentally) to road conditions and other hazards that can crop up from nowhere. If it's the choice between their freedom and liberties or the safety of other road users - safety comes first, every time. Driver standards should be raised to the same level as one trying to obtain a pilot's (ppl) licence.
  10. Well said sir, clearly your a scholar and a gentleman. ← Thanks My experience says that competition reduces costs. Having dealt with beta testing of LS1 edit, in 2001, I participated in a group purchase of the first release of LS1 Edit unlimited VIN editing software in Australia, costing AUD$12,500. Today this similar product is available for around $5300 Somewhere in my workshop I've still got my 4-vin LS1 edit tuning dongle laying around.
  11. Yes it is an advantage but most of the tuning I do have the customers only request one tune. The Valet mode/low octane tune option are rarely used. The LS1 crowd have been living with the one tune option for over 6 years now with. With a 2nd PCM being available for a nominal price for the LS1's, only a few are opting for a 2nd pcm/tune option.
  12. NOS XR, I agree with your sentiments regarding the tuning solutions available to Falcon owners. Having used LS1 Edit, VCM suite and also the SCT Advantage, the Ford tuning software sucks arse compared to the GM tuning for several reasons. 1. Having to sell a tuning box as part of a tuning solution is cost inhibitive, eating into both the profit one can make from tuning, and also inflates the cost of the service/product delivered to the end user. Tuning for GENIII's costs, on average, $500-$800. Dealer cost for a tuning box is at least $740, plus tuning fees from your tuner, costing the Falcon owner at least $1000 for the box and one custom tune. $500 - $800 for a good custom tune and no piece of hardware represents much better value. 2. The box can only be locked/unlocked 5 times before it has to be resent to the US to be unlocked. Both represent an unwanted cost and inconvenience. 3. Uploading/downloading calibrations wastes valuable time compared to VCM Suite. Watch the price of the SCT gear for the Australian model cars plummet 50% when another tuning solution becomes available. It can't happen soon enough.
  13. What do you class as being a rich tune? A lot of guys I have spoken to tune to 0.85 lambda WOT... what are your thoughts?.... ← I don't have any. As long as it doesn't detonate or chuck a rod/break a piston it doesn't matter.
  14. You must be clued on if your quoting box number's here, do you know the if the Zf for the T6 and Boss is the same. Iv'e got a ZF out of a 6 and I was wondering if it'd bolt to a boss, it looks like a solid case so either they cast two completely different cases for each application or they are both the same bolt pattern. Whats it worth to buy a box new from ZF, 6HP32 preferably. ← The 6HP32 won't work in the I6/V8 Falcons. Doesn't fit. The 6HP26 for the XR6T, XR8, GT/GT-P and F6 are all the same, rated at 600nm. The 6speed auto used in the other Falcon models is the lower torque rated unit. I'm not sure which model of the 6HP26 is used on the 3 valve V8.
  15. Spotted him last week on the Mitchell Fwy heading North. Friggen right lane hog! Nice driving champ
  16. Competition fluid is great for competition use, but doesn't last as long as a fluid designed for street use. It goes 'off' very quickly due to it absorbing moisture. Nothing wrong with using it, just be prepared to change it frequently.
  17. With a 4.17 first gear ratio, I doubt a diff ratio change would help at all.
  18. Yep, 330rwkw to 351rwkw, no major problems, other than some noises that were occuring. All is good now, I just needed to revise my driving technique I think the ZF trans in the TT Bentley is more than likely a 6HP32, not the 6HP26. And yes, Schnitzer AG modifies the 6HP26 gearboxes in the hi-perf BMW's. Shock, what happened to your gearbox?
  19. Good post Zap. Most people aren't aware of their rights, and the responsibility of the issuing officers. With this in mind, I've successfully had 7 infringements over the past 8 years dropped due to these kind of antics the police have used. You'd be surprised how many tickets are issued erroneously but people pay them because they think they have to.
  20. Check out this site, then contact them. You'd have a good chance of getting off if the device used was a Genesis radar. http://www.australianradar.com.au/news.php They specialise in defending speeding infringements. Lidar/radar is definately not infallible.
  21. I'm sure some stern words will be spoken to Jason Bright after that incident. I can just imagine Tom Gorman doing his fkn block at JB.
  22. Cars going to be rooted or your tyres? ← Just a general comment. ← Jase, what tyres and brake pad are you running? I'm sourcing DS2500 pads for the Brembo's and Toyo 888 tyres to use at the next sprint event.
  23. SHOCK is having troubles with his 6 speed auto and he has got around the 270rwkw mark I think. ← Any chance SHOCK can tell us what happened?
  24. That would be the best way to go for repeatable, reliable power. Don't forget to change the injectors too. Those mods should see you achieve the power you're after within your budget. I'd start budgeting for rear tyres though.
  25. If the BAII runout was anything to go by, you should be able to pickup a BF F6 for $50-55k driveaway, including the auto or a F6 with the upgraded brake package.
