    New Members Thread

Spend a few minutes on the forum and you'd probably realise that a "New Members Thread" is where people come to introduce themselves, say hi, their interests and what they want to get out of their new car. Not surprising you were asked about those things. Have a look around the other topics and subforums and you'll probably find one much more suited to the info and question you're after. One where the query would be the focus, not the banter regarding interest in your other machine(s), shed etc. Welcome to the forum, heaps of good answers and info - just asked under the wrong topic where the responses were suitable for the thread.
  3. When introduced it was only the crap grade and killed a lot of cars that weren't suited to it.

    +1 for shed monster
  6. You'll have a ball. Am sure the engineers who designed the roads were riders Just make sure you pack puncture repair kits and have decent rubber before you set off. Some stretches you can put in 5 hours riding, only to find at the end of the day you've only covered a couple of hundred k's Shouldn't be an issue with wildlife - even the roo's are mini versions of what we get here Only time I was worried on the bike about wildlife was when following one of the beehive collection trucks - very angry bees
  7. Posting here because Tex (Cpt Retard) lost his keys and couldn't open the door
  8. Other than leaving the GF at home when you go for a drive (was going to be my suggestion til I saw it was done): Does the whine go away if you use the brakes? Can you try and narrow it down when it happens and when it stops? Speed, airflow, revs, constant whine or up/down etc) Are there red/blue flashing lights in the rear view happening at the same time? (seriously though - line 2 and 3 are worth reading/answering)
  9. No answer sorry, but yeah, had to comment because - that is f*cking sexy. Quick google gives a few suppliers in Oz, but you'd probably need a contact for a one off?
  10. No blackmail there - the kids will be finding it funny that the massage hurt like sh*t, and will appreciate a hint for what to get me next year Grandma: "What did you get Rab for Fathers day?" Kids: "30 mins at the local Run-N-Tug. We'll drop him off, cut a lap and then pick him up. Not worth getting a park" Grandma: ".................?................"
  11. Pics?
  12. WPMO: $60 for a 40 minute neck, shoulder and back massage at the shopping center today (was a fathers day pressie) The bits that hurt before I went in now hurt more and the bits that didn't hurt now hurt. I reckon the trim, short thai girl that "looked after" me trained under Pol Pot as an interrogator. Thanks kids, but next time just get me a voucher for a happy ending (or a proper masseuse, not a shopping center one)
  13. Paid app or the freebie version of a paid app? "We may push adds on the free version" on the T&C's could become "We will pop up random gay ads unless you pay us" pretty easily
  14. blame dags He'll probably suggest you use tapatalk
  15. ^^ Crows (or whatever those black ones are) They must breed them stupid over there. Look at a crow wrong over here and it's off and they definitely don't get hit by cars. Over there they seem to be dead from stupidity as much as they are alive
  16. Just remember - Reducing radius corners We've never seen them on our roads - they're not unusual over there. Just because the entry looks easy, doesn't mean the exit will be. If they say "45" - take it at 45 instead of 90
  17. I reckon that headboard would play havock with the roofies I'd have had to feed the girl to get her back to the room
  18. West Coast is brilliant for the drive itself. Best roads and every corner brings a new vista to look at. As said ^^ - the "suggested speed" signs are (unlike everywhere else) honest. Reducing radius corners, proper camber on the roads, well maintained tar makes the Tassie roads my favorite to spend a week on the bike on. West Coast (Strahan up to Cradle Mountain) is a friggin brilliant ride/drive The road out of (towards Hobart) Queenstown is a great hill for a blast up. That said - the stretch from Queenstown to New Norfolk is one of the most boring stretches of road I've ever come across - painful. Not to mention that all you get at the end is New Norfolk - Take all the bad bits out of a bogan lifestyle and put them together in one place; that's New Norfolk. Things to see: Richmond - bit of a touristy old town, but you have to get a photo with the misses under the old bridge. It'll be a shot for the mantle peice Cadbury Chocolate Factory - Can't do a Tassie trip without doing the tour Seafood at Mures in Hobart docks - make sure you book for upstairs Wineglass Bay More than anything else - Stop often at the tourist interest points along the drive. As I said above - it's a totally new region every corner and some of the most spectacular places to see aren't highlighted by anything more than a single brown signpost. Devils Marbles (or something - may have also been called a Blowhole or similar) at/near Eaglehawk Neck (on the way to Port Arthur) was one such place. Just before Queenstown (Hobart side) there's some magnificent rainforest trails and waterfalls Try to do the ghost tour at Port Arthur after spending the day there (Eaglehawk Neck was a decent motel for us to spend the night at - made the trip back the next day a lot easier) Other than that - take your time and enjoy the place. Can get from one end to the other in a day and see nothingn or you can have a fantastic day full of highlights, sights and photo ops, end up exhausted at the end of the day and not have even covered 200km's
  19. You don't need rear callipers for a drag race - take them off and then my rims will fit
  20. You said it yourself Touch free FTW - even easier for the lazy.
  21. TomT: Rears are still on full soft from when they were fitted - have played with the fronts but not the rears yet. Will do that shortly. So yeah, full soft at the rears, full hard at the front for the drags. 8 runs last night - all in the 1.9's for the 60' and a 1.8. Previously on stock springs 2.2 was the norm. (doesn't take into account that I'm slowly improving myself as well, but does show a definite difference) Definitely give more grip that the stock setup, but also gives back fantastic feedback when on the road. Under acceleration you can feel where the tyres are getting to their limit of traction and keep a nice balance with them at that limit. Would be expecting even greater control once I do find the proper firmness to dial the rears in at too. I think the fact that they're non-progressive gives them a huge advantage in that regard - constant spring rate the whole way through the load. Don: you coming down with yum cha tyres or some rubber that can actually make use of your power/boost?
  22. Lol Mick - the very thought was occurring to me on the way home. Was going to speak to you during the week Am wrapped with the car and setup as it is now and don't want to just chase numbers, but see nothing wrong with some more specific tuning. Was also wondering if it would be possible to load a shift table with more thought out (drag specific) shift points? Lennox - still not too sure where I am off the line yet. Was maybe 2100- 2200 with no traction issue. I think 2300 last time had me spinning, but had slightly more air in the tyres then. Still need to find the sweet spot reliably. 28 in the Invo's and the Shockworks coilovers keep impressing me with the grip I'm getting. I'm flat to the floor from off the line til the end with no issues etc (flat boost Mick mentions) and perfect for 99% of the cars use.
  23. did you discuss protection with him?
  24. 8 runs. Couple of track cleanups which took a while. Tossing up whether to leave it there or keep chasing a perfect run and (hopefully) eek an 11 out of her
