GeGe6, let us know when u have the intake muffler delete out etc and what you're looking at chasing for it. Also, random Q but not entirely off topic. Can you fit a CAI or POD filter to the FG XR6T without requiring a tune put through the car? Saw my car door tonight, wasn't the best lighting, so can't entirely tell until tomorrow. The gloss they've put on looks good and blended with the rest of the car well, however the black underneath looked average to me. It's probably only a small strip about 4-5mm wide and about 4-5cm long, but seemed to be a bit different to the factory colour. Will see how obvious it is during the day, but yeah so far not entirely happy with how it looks. Worried that even getting it re-done again will be a waste of time, and then also worry that if we goto the extent of the whole door being resprayed, whether it'll look f*cked compared to the rest of the factory paint, which would obviously stand out a hell of a lot more than a 4mm wide strip.

As much as I'd love to goto the drags to watch and even run a couple laps, I can't make it this week because I have to pick up a desk tomorrow night. Maybe next season ( I think this one's the last one?) Also, my bro picked up my car, and I asked him to take a picture of the work done to the door, he rekons there's nothing to take a photo of because he can't tell where it was damaged before (he did see it damaged, so he knows where and he's a picky fker like me too). So I'm quite happy to hear that. Should see the car in the next 30 mins when he rocks up.

Well, the ute goes in to get the door scrape fixed today. My options were a full door respray or a sand back and touch up on the edge of the door. I've opted for the latter because I cbf with a whole door respray for a 4-5cm scratch on the edge of the door, would mean I'd possibly get a slight difference in paint when comparing to the rest of the car if I did the whole door. Good thing with ute's.... I can load my bike up on the back so when I drop it off I don't need to bs around with taxi's or getting someone to pick me up.

Future Project
Yeah have to agree. Though it might not be xr6t related, there's no reason OP can't create a thread about the build here. Might be interesting to read. Whilst this forum isn't dead by any means, I also think it's by no means lively/big/active enough to be telling people to go elsewhere. My 2c.

Centre Muffler Removal: Sound, Legality & Results
I work in Canning Vale, live in Forrestfield. I honestly don't care too much if I have to travel a bit (Malaga isn't that far anyway - but fk going to Joondalup to get a muffler change )

Yeah, Shannon's policy is pretty good. I just wish they would charge less for my insurance on the XR6T, I've got it insured elsewhere for half the price that they want (but my bike and contents is through them). When mod time comes then I'll probably shift it across to ensure it's covered properly though. So, for anyone who saw the pissing me off post I made yesterday in the appropriate thread, update today is that I have to take it to a place called City Spray in Malaga to have it repaired. Sounds like it should be straight forward, whether it ends up being that way will be another story yet.

They're not anywhere near me unfortunately, however I do have to get some work done up that way hopefully soon (to fix my fkn door), so could potentially look at sorting something then. Thanks for the recommendation.

The What's Pi$$Ing You Off Thread
I hate how people can be so careless. I had a windscreen replaced today in my carport. Moved the car so he could open a door wide on one side, but he could still get in on drivers side (only a smallish carport). The guy has somehow by accident or carelessness has hit the driver door (the one which was a tighter squeeze but still enough to get in and out), up against the brick wall. (Pretty sure I heard the thud when it happened, which was a definitive thud, not just a tap, but just hoped it was something else). Now I have paint missing. When asked if he hit the door he tried to tell me he didn't think he hit the wall but it all clearly lined up, how can you not know if you hit the door? Hopefully the business will get it sorted with minimal bullsh*t. Have already called them and was told they'd discuss with him and get someone to call back to sort it out, and have given a call to the insurer about it too so there's a note made on their system. So fkn annoying.

Venting The Stock Bov
Used a flat end screw. I'm honestly not sure there's reason to put a clamp on it, considering there's no clamp on the BOV etc. If it was going to blow it out the end or something which I don't think it will there'd be a clamp on the bov too. The screw is in there securely though, doesn't seem to be any issues, but will keep an eye on it.

Centre Muffler Removal: Sound, Legality & Results
Couple of questions I have; On the FG ute's, is the cat located up close to the dump or part of the dump? Looking at the system, mine seems to be running a straight pipe from around where the dump joins right back to around where the diff is, where a muffler (assuming centre muffler that people remove?), is located that splits the single pipe into 2. As far as I'm aware my car hasn't been previously modified or anything. Also, anyone know of or can recommend a place in Perth that is good with these? I'm planning on getting a flanged Y pipe put in, and get the muffler flanged on the end it's not currently flanged on, so that I can change over if I ever have to again or if I get sick of it.

Awesome, thanks Nitro, I think I'll give her a crack tomorrow if I can find a screw to put into the vac line.

Venting The Stock Bov
That's cool. So I can basically run the CAI and not require a tune. (Mine is stock as far as I'm aware, I've not touched it at least, and the car was stock when bought). I'd heard somewhere I'd have to tune it, can't remember if it was from a friend or somewhere online. Kinda spewing I bought the K&N Panel filter today then haha, ah well, I'll leave it with the stock airbox for now. With regard to the vacuum hose. It appears to be fairly long, do I just cable tie it to something to keep it off of things/out of the way after putting a screw and hose clamp on it? And out of interest, what does the vacuum hose do?

Venting The Stock Bov
What about the thin hose that comes off the BOV (whatever that's called ), is that actually required, or do I just take it off completely and leave the other end uncovered or do you have to cover that somehow? ? I was under the impression if a POD filter is fitted a re-tune is required ?

Today I went out and spent all of $20 to try this mod. For the price you can't really complain and will give everyone a bit of variation to do what they like the sound of. Got myself the breather, the chair stoppers and a hose clamp. It took about 10 minutes or so to fit (I fkn hate those OEM clamps on the hose, they were a *beep* to get off, or I probably just dont have the right tool). Not sure I like the breather... the pschhhh noise seems to go on for far too long, I was hoping it'd be more precise and have a start/stop to it, not a start.....continuation, continuation & more continuation where it almost sounds like it doesnt stop again until you get on the gas again or revs hit idle. For now I've just used the two chair stoppers and blocked both ends up up (BOV and Intake), I get a kinda soft (it's loud-ish, but not that loud) tututu sound with that, but only when under load/power, neutral revving gives you nothing, would kind of like it to be a bit louder, seems the gas needs to be under a bit of load too, to get a half way good tututu out of it too. I may play with the remaining chair stoppers to see what I think of the different hole sizes people have been doing etc to get different sounds. If anyone has further suggestion on this, happy to listen(read). My car is currently stock apart from a K&N panel filter just fitted today and the BOV mod.

What Made You Feel Good Today
Buying new tools ! New tools always makes me feel good. Picked up a Kinchrome 49pce socket & bit set on sale from Auto One today. Needed it for the TORX bits so I could get into my air filter.

Centre Muffler Removal: Sound, Legality & Results
Hey all, Came across this today which I thought sounded quite good. I was under the impression retunes are required for changing anything exhaust wise etc because it could cause over-boosting or something?Reading the description, I'm not sure if he's referring to fitting a 3" dump pipe or if the muffler removal is what he's talking about with the fitting a 3" pipe. Anyway was thinking this could possibly be an option if it's safe to do without a tune, just so it has a bit of noise for the time being until I can afford to go all out and buy the flash tuner unit and any corresponding bits.

Air Intake
Should be interested if you're selling. Would like a bit more of an induction noise. Love the sound of the car as it is when I get on it a little and can hear a slight high pitched suck/whine from the suction, so if possible would like to enhance that a bit more. Especially if I don't need a retune as I don't have the tool for that as yet. What're everyone's thoughts on breather kits or the bov vent kits? (similar to those listed in this listing - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FG-Ford-XR6-Turbo-Intake-Air-Muffler-Delete-BOV-Kit-Breather-TB-Pipe-/171682032367?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item27f90beaef ) Obviously there'll be some people who love it, some who think it's wank. Are there actual benefits to this other than the sound (not going to just go off what the ad says), and again would doing these small things require a retune or is it safe to put on without any issues?

Air Intake
Wicked, was there a noticeable difference in induction noise? Good/Bad?

Air Intake
Would fitting a Plazmaman air intake delete pipe require a retune out of interest?
