Guys, to make it easier for people who are faily new to this topic, keep the way you speak about each gear on a consistant level... Though I may understand (through the context of the conversation) that when you say "lower first gear ratio" that you actually mean a SHORTER first gear, a lower first gear actually means the following; 3:1 is lower than 4:1.... But 4:1 is a shorter gear... So its a shorter first gear, higher ratio I Just thought I would get you guys to pick that up, just in order to help those who might not exactly understand what you mean, but would like too.... BACK OT. The ZF box shifts roughly twice as fast as our current box, and because each ratio is much closer to the next, each shift is extremely smooth; the revs don't have to drop as far to pick up the next gear... Therefore the quarter times WILL drop. Each shift is done twice as fast, but the revs do not drop nearly as far. Net power to the wheels averaged over the entire quarter mile is therefore increased....

For the BA falcon, 19's are the way to go... You'll kick yourself in a years time when you look back and go "damn, 18's just don't seem to cut it anymore"...

Yes, but you can't put some apple in a hamburger... This is by far a better feature than all the above mentioned... All the latest fruit wish to have this feature, its the latest thing.....

If you do go screw, you will have to cut a rather large hole in your bonnet. I don't see a problem with that!!! :D The thing is, when it comes to supercharging, nothing really beats a positive displacement supercharger.... The reason is that each cylinder will get the exact same amount of air (heaps) every single time it combusts (ie, all bypass valves are closed, WOT that is...)... Its instant grunt.... Think about it. How long does it take for a valve to close? that's how long it takes to make close to maximum torque, anywhere in the rev range, with a positive displacement charger.... And some of the quickest street driven stangs I've ever heard of in the states (ones that aren't advertised on all the semi rice websites people seem to get there information off) are screw charged.... Not to mention the whistle that a screw charger gives off... It's out of this world... So go for it geea; see if you can get away with having a bug catcher hanging out of a GT...

With regards to the transmission, as long as you go a little easier on it through the shifts then it should be fine...

Don't get me wrong, I still hold quite allot of respect for you (as I've seen the things you have done over the last year, what you have driven, your knowledge etc), but that comment makes you look like a real tossbag, which you aren't. So stop trying to look like one! We have plenty of members to do that for you......

The latest motor issue seems to agree that this is definately something electronic, or at least appears to be....

a T with luxury interior, premium audio and such is like 54k once you pay for on road and such, seems a bit expensive for what it is.....ahhh what am I sayin, still cant wait to go 2 the dealer on sat Oh has Ford stopped giving the free onroads and free leather now? Meh, I remember the adds on TV, but I haven't watched much TV of late... Well it might cost you closer to 56 grand for all that then... Still a bargain.....

Well, if we have a little think about this, based on the info spiko has given us (I have no reason to doubt him), he said the car had wheelspin for half the track. His mph would have suffered. Wheelspin for 20 or 30 meters doesn't really affect your mph all that much, as we all know. But wheelspind for half the track would sap your mph like any other issue! If he had grip for those particular passes, I would suggest that the trap speed would be roughly 135-136mph... A high 11 at 130mph just doesn't add up (even with a 2.2 60'). And good to see a rollcage going in, even if it is going to be a street car, good to see because it allows you to run more passes, safely. Far out, I can't wait to hear what happens! Love it!

Welcome mate. I can tell you one thing that I notice when changing cars from a F'mont Ghia into a T, and many other cars, you REALLY miss the premium interior of the Ghia. So leather is a must, premium sound and the luxo pack really does the trick. If you don't see yourself purchasing aftermarket rims, then make sure you get the 18 inch wheel package. If you do decide to go aftermarket, then see JB about where he got his 19's from. Awesome looking wheel. You would probably want to get the car lowered a little though, only about an inch or 2, with the 19's. I'd pick up the car like that and then ask around on the forums for someone to do a fitup of the PBR brakes (they really should be standard, you will definately be happy that you got them). Then save up, purchase the edit with a tune, maybe purchase that line pressure mod (the switchable one) for the gearbox and that would do you. I guarantee that you will be a very happy man. This should cost you less than 53 grand including on-roads, edit, luxo pack, 18's or 19's and brakes. All things considered, that is an absolute bargain. Absolute bargain mate. It will pull a 13 flat (beating every stock and slightly modded HSV on the road, especially with injectors and an intercooler if you wanted more grunt), it is comfortable enough that you could live out of it, placid enough to take long trips in, has a 5 star crash rating, is safe enough for the misses to take the kids to school in AND in normal driving conditions, will give great fuel economy. Especially for a large 1800kg lump of metal... I can tell you that I'd be happy with that. Hmmm... Would anyone like to donate me 50 something grand? Please? Meh..

Very nice mate, great shtos!

So he is hoping for a single 9 second pass and then say "yep, done that, don't want a cage"? If so, then lmao.... He should use a G-tech or something to practice first Spiko is a very experienced drag racer. When does a full pass it'll be such that he wants to shatter whatever the record is at that time, and he's setting the car up to do it. He is one very determined person, and I hope his patience is rewarded. Brian Oh for sure mate. I just can't wait to see it.... I hope he does get it the first run though, otherwise it would get mighty anoying having to travel around the country side to find a strip that will let him run without a cage, knowing full well what it is capable of.... I absolutely can't wait though... The sound this thing will make on full song too....

Cops in sydney were being really tight arse about tints recently and I think this attitude has spread to melb. I don't recall what the fine is, but apparently you lose points for it now too.... If plonky could clarify...

Just can't help myself.... I want your rims on the ghia JB, they are seriously some of the hottest 19's I've ever seen.. Yes yes, its off topic, and yes I know I have told you this before.... But I haven't seen your sig in a while... Anyways.... Back on, the ghia also axil tramps.

The issue? You are using the piggy back as well.... Dump the piggy back, get the EDIT tuned properly and you will make more power, its that simple.
-
Watched an XR8 with a charger on the dyno the other day (for 4 hours) and this thing sounded like it was sent from heaven.... It sounded perfect, like a v8 should..
-
Good stuff mate, keep it up!
-
Plus the EDIT gives you till 6500rpm... Which is more than enough room to make sure you crap yourself....
-
The better fix? Bigger rims with only a 5 point change the tyre profile.... Would give you about an inch of extra diameter, or half an inch in ground clearance.... Would have cost about the same, plus the car would now look about 100 times better.... But then again, you do more burnouts than an entire street meet, so this was probably the safer option.

hehe, I'm actually laughing at that, how stupid... Nothing wrong with a bit of light (if not slightly retarded) humour...
-
Whatever the case, that GT owner would be very happy.....

I don't understand why rob is being so retarded with his prices recently... Hes losing business and doesn't seem to care....

In my opinion, what they need to do is change the delivery of the power, or more specifically, the consistency At the moment, its meant to be making 450nm from 2000 - 4500rpm, right? But there are FAR too many T's going around that, if you were to slap them on an engine dyno, would fail to make 420nm. This is evident by the times produced in auto and manual form, from forums members to the motoring press... If they clamp down on the variances, have tighter production quality checks and aim to produce about 455nm from 1950 - 4550, then you have a slight over engineering factor which allows for production variances in the wrong direction. And if you have the typhoon's clutch mated to the t56, or a short diff version of the 6 speed auto (yep, it makes 1st gear virtually useless, something like 50 clicks at redline apparently), they you have a fairly monster package... This would obviously jump the price though, probably around 2 grand per car. You have to think of the cost though. Ford want to make money, and unless these changes are going to make them sell more cars, remembering that people aren't going to care that "now you are even more guaranteed to get the actual power figure claimed", then Ford wont do it... Not to mention that this sounds dodgy for one, and for two people expect the advertised figure regardless.... Meh, I'm just rambling... But I'm on a uni break, so I can!

4wd crossed to wrong side of road ..............bang! Having the quality to earn a 5 star crash ratings certainly come in handy sometimes.... On a similar note, I can't stand 4WD's, unless towing a car trailer, boat, or actually 4WDing.... 95% of 4WD owners cannot justify their reason(s) for owning one... Urban death bricks... If they are in an accident they should instantly be at fault simply for owning one if a) its never been off road or b) never towed something over 1.5t.
