Westernationals are on the 5th and 6th. Theres a test and tune on Wednesday 3rd so the track will be prepped and rubbered up and about as good as it can be for a Wednesday night.

I keep saying the next car I get will remain stock. So far that hasn't happened.
-
I thought about it briefly, but I like to be able drive wherever and whenever and not deal with planning fuel stops. I drive like a granny 99% of the time anyway.
-
Dunno what brand it is but I dont believe its Manta.

My dump pipe cracked around the exhaust flange weld. The guy that fixed it today said it looks like a cheap, thin stainless piece of gear. The welds I saw when I took the heat shield off were shocking too! Anyway, he rewelded it but cant say it wont crack again. He's a Manta seller so I asked him to get me a price on a Manta dump pipe so that'll match the rest of my Manta system. Eventually I'll change it out and get it run up on the dyno to make sure it doesnt affect the tune. Im hoping it wont need a retune. But knowing me, I'll wait till it cracks again.

Yeah. Awesome news. I checked out the Paris - Dakar rally teams when they came through Bamako back when they used to go through Africa and I was living in Mali. This was when Yamaha was feilding the two wheel drive WR450 which killed em in the snow and slush but couldnt stay with the KTMs on the open dry stuff. The conditions those guys had to compete in were seriously hard core back then and I'm sure its still the same. Damage was everywhere. We used to drive that country a lot and it beat the crap out of our Landcruisers, I wouldnt want to do it full tilt in or on anything. Besides, Ive been in African hospitals and I wouldnt want to go there with any injuries !

Yeah I did the Pro Auto/KPM thing so I could have a driveline warranty. This was back in 2012 so things may have changed, but they basically ran the car on the dyno, emailed the info to KPM who emailed a tune back and they then ran it on the dyno again etc. What I got back was a car that pinged at WOT so I had to take it back and they took some timing out (didnt re run it on the dyno though). The car did go well and held 13psi to redline instead of the crap boost curve they come with. But compared to tunes others are doing, it was low on power. And you're paying out the arse for it. This was for a tune and high flow filter only. The warranty also gets voided the moment you take it to a track. I since have used XFT and Monsta Torque and, for reasons I wont detail here, Monsta Torque will get my money if ever I want to step up from where I am now (which is unlikely). Pro Autos were super awesome to deal with but the situation of emailing tunes back and forth was a bit crap. Because of the rediculous prices for the different KPM levels of tune, when you decide to go next level from just a tune (which is likely) then the prices you will pay to upgrade through the KPM route is just crazy. My opinion is that it wasnt worth the money.

Tbh. I prefer that site to the iron ore sites. The camp and everything is much older but I stil has a touch of the old wild west to it. Takes me back to my Kalgoorlie days.

Nah Rockys Reward, Leinster.

Thanks Arron. Going to site next week for a few days so just dropping it at a shop. Fkn site has a clean shaven policy, because asbestos, so ill be lookin like a teenager tomorrow.

Yeah still got the tig, Luke. No gas though so will probably drop it to a shop to pull off and repair.

Holy crap! My dump pipe is cracked at the exhaust flange! So much for nipping up the flange bolts :(
-
Good deal. Price from Westrac through my work was $150+gst
-
Interested in the price Tocchi cos my mate also wants one. So whats the deal with turbo flange bolts? Do I need to put the car on stands and go up from underneath?
-
I wish I'd thought of Westrac. I tried a couple of speedshops and the ones I tried didnt have them. CMP said if they did have them, they'd be around $160 but no details of brand or model. You know, the usual CMP DGAF sales technique. I just did a search on ebay USA for oil filter cutter. Plenty of options there. Im sure it'd do Z9 as its got lots of adjustment.
-
So the bolts on my dump pipe to turbo outlet flange have come loose on my FG and I need to retighten them. Is it best to go up from underneath or to remove the heat sheild and go in from the top? On another subject, check out this neat Longacre oil filter cutter I got recently to keep an eye on my race motor. Cost about $100 US landed from ebay and super easy to use. Hello filter element ! Just what I want to see......nothing.

I got a leaky exhaust I gotta sort out. Otherwise I'm keen. Depending on dates and double demerits.

A few laps from the weekend. This one smoked the tyre on the launch which cost me around 3 tenths at least and got an 8.78. You can hear it let.go. Same run from an iphone. The squeel is my missus getting excited. This one is a pb 8.603. So close to a fifty! I turned first gear down to wastegste pressure to try and hook that tear tyre up. About 300hp in first gear, 340 in second, then 360 up to the finish. I have a theory for solving the wheel spin issue though so cant wait gor next round.

Rtv Tramp Rods .will They Work On A Ute ?
Boganspeed replied to genuine honest person's topic in Suspension and Handling
Yeah. When tramping, the nose of the diff rotates upwards before the sprimg tension releases and then winds up again. I also would recommend that you don't spend the money unless you need to. -
Rtv Tramp Rods .will They Work On A Ute ?
Boganspeed replied to genuine honest person's topic in Suspension and Handling
Are you having a lot of tramp issues? My ute has only ever tramped once and that was on the strip. It only banged about four times before I got out of it. But it was enough to bend both axles. What about a set of old school slapper bars? There must be some street cred in those surely. I used to run a single bar on a Mazda RX4 with a 600 holley and nitrous back in the day. People would ask why only one bar and I would explain that it was all about balancing the amount of torsional stress between the two sides and right side had more twisting stress than the left and some other stuff I've forgotten. It was really because I only had one laying around. Did the job though. -
The display I was on was out the back area where the car show was. I dont think a lot of people got out that way.
