With converting the K6 Gixer to a drag bike for my young bloke, I was left with no proper road bike besides the Harley Roadking and ye olde Turbo Gixer which is a bit of a pig to ride. So I now own this. I mainly want to stop driving my ute to work and need something decent for weekends but not pricey. Meet my Gen 1 Busa. I solemnly promise not to hack this one up....probably....at least not for a while. Thanks Mr Turnbull.

My new dash. Means business. Yellow light is low/high coolant temp. Oil and neutral lights plus two shift lights. If I need to know anything else, I'll have to look at the logs.

Should be up for it. Hopefully better weather than this weekend.

Still interested.

I'll go on any of those dates.

I'd likely be up for a cruise.

So I noticed this on the way home from work yesterday (inspired by SteveR) note: 1st gear is due to rush hour traffic and boredom. I use manual mode for something to do because playing with my knob while driving is frowned upon by some.

Sorry mate I don't. No worries on the bender, I'll chuck it in the corner till you get around to it.

11am. Sunny. 16 degrees celcius. Apparently that's the perfect weather for demonstrating to the kid in the 6L Late model camira that he may have bought the wrong car if he wants to drive around thinking that he's fast. edit: Luke do you still want to use that plate bender? Come get it any time.

I might actually remember to watch this one. I don't think I've watched a single race this season.

My ute got a full wash and polish today. Its been that long since it saw water that wasnt falling from the sky I almost couldn't tell what colour it was. Turns out its dark grey.

No idea. Hard to believe they wouldn't have the track open.

Bit of a shocker hey ! There was heaps going on with ANDRA getting booted by the Motorplex in favour of IHRA and the sh*tstorm that followed. I cant help but wonder if theres something behind the scenes going on and KMPL have done this for other reasons. They certainly hung their hats on the IHRA and clearly said that ANDRA can f*ck right off. Maybe Venues West have told them they have to go back to ANDRA and KPML said "yeah nah, f*ck ANDRA, were out"...or something similar.

I took the day off work Friday and spent it at the paint shop prepping everything for primer. Today I just need to do the wheels and finish the new fairing and besides a couple of spots of knifing putty, it'll be all done. A fair bit of work in all that but it was good therapy to just switch off and sand stuff down and try not to think about work. Coincidentally I discovered rust in the K6 tank so I bought a sealing kit yesterday and will do the old nuts and bolts trick first and then seal it. Tip 1. Use steel nuts and bolts, not stainless, so you can fish the pesky buggers out with a magnet.

Yeah Niall's a good man. He's been doing my stuff for years and always looks after bike guys. You could be right Gordon, he has a strong dutch ( I think) accent so maybe I misunderstood his meaning. Nevertheless, its a tough bit of gear. And Lennox is right, the owner is Bert. I'd met him before when I used to go on the PSB bike forum.

But heres a question, if its an ex Sainz WRC why is it RHD?
-
Its water to air intercooled. Theres a ton of cooling in the nose including water sprays for extra coolage. My fave memory is Sainz rolling one of these and then blazing off down the track as soon as the wheels hit the ground.

I was at the spraypainters shop today prepping all my bike stuff. I was using the rear wing of one of those cool old all wheel drive Celicas under a car cover to leave my phone and keys so I wouldnt lose them. Niall, who owns the shop, tells me its a targa car and I take a quick peek and got all nostalgic cos I got to have a drive of a road car back in the day. So then the owner turns up and thankfully is not pissed at me for using his car for a shelf. But it turns out this thing is a an ex Carlos Sainz WRC that the owner uses in the major targa events. Its punching 600 hp and apparently it loves clutches and gearboxes. Its using a Toyota GT26 turbo too, apparently thoroughly hotted up. He was happy for me to grab a couple of snaps. Apparently it cost him quite a bit of money.
