  1. Wow Slash ! Congrats ! I went down in the second round. Close to my dial in too, but the other guy was closer. I've entered for the top fuel meeting so maybe catch you then. Will prob camp there friday night.
  2. Anyone going to the drags today ? I'm competing in mod bike so if you're wandering down fourth ave in the pits, look out for the pit with the Aussie Streetfighters banner and the black Harley parked between a GSXR streetfighter and a GSX1400 that doesn't look like a GSX1400 and say hi. Ask for Phill, I'll be the good lookin' one. Would love to have a chat about turbo falcons.
  3. Yeah but without the stickers and go fast gear, it's a chicks car.

Unless he forgot to put the oil in. Try banana peels, the price is coming right down now, half a dozen banana's are now cheaper than a diff rebuild.
  5. I may be wrong, but a performance upgrade is a performance upgrade, whether it's a genuine Ford part from another model or a Growler or a Hyundai part. I don't see how it would make any difference to the people at the service department when you're trying to claim warranty and they can see you've made a performance upgrade and are looking for a way to make you pay for whatever's just crapped itself on your car. I would think that if the car isn't as it was when it rolled out the factory door, then that modification would be, at least, considered when it came to whether it would be claimable or not. If not, does that mean I can fit a shaker bonnet scoop ? As long as it's genuine ?
  6. All the way down and all the way back Brenno.
  7. This sounds interesting, is this possible and how ?
  8. Has anyone done any mods to allow the steering column in the FG's to adjust a little higher ? IMO they sit too low and I can't see the top edges of the speedo and tacho, even with the seat all the way down and back and the column all the way out and up. I'm 6'2" so I'm not rediculously tall, the distance to the pedals and everything else is fine, just the steering wheel is too low. Looking at the steering column cover in the fully raised position, it looks like the column could lift another 10 to 15mm which would make it okay. FYI, I don't get my ute for a few weeks yet, but I'd tried messing around in demo utes, I had a decent play and couldnt get it to a spot where I was really happy with it. I can live with it, but it would be cool to be able to get that extra 10-15mm.
  9. Yeah mate, I've ordered a MKII XR6T ute. Hoping for delivery early December.
  10. Lucky I dont cry easy ! I even pulled a couple of plug leads off so it kinda sounds like a V8 too ! Combine that with my spinner hub cabs, neons and my rear wing and you guys wouldn't stand a chance ! It's no wonder you don't want me to come along I'm out in the hills in the morning on the bikes with a few mates so I may swing by afterwards if I get back to town in time and meet a few of you guys. I really would just like to look at a few cars and get some tips for what I may or may not do when my ute arrives.
  11. Crashed, Can you please PM me the meet point details ? I'd love to have a look at some cars and get some idea's for future reference. Maybe even join the cruise, but in my Late model camira unfortunately.
  12. I don't think that reverse sensors are standard on the XR6T utes. But, I'd be happy to be corrected. Very happy actually, to the tune of about $550.
  13. Only if you do me first ! Shyfrd Reverse sensors were about $550 but TBH, I think half of the pricing of these extra's is all smoke and mirrors. BTW, base price for the MKII XR6T ute is $37,445.45 excl GST compared to $40,172.73 excl for the MKI.
  14. You'll never get a decent trade in on anything, I'm afraid. The best thing to do is sell private and go buy a new car. IMO, trade ins are just a perfect opportunity for dealers to buy cheap stock just because people don't want the hassle of selling their car privately. On a brighter note, I ordered a 6T ute yesterday with luxo pack and reverse sensors to be added. Its due to lob here early December.
  15. Just in case anyone is interested, Ford released pricing today for the FGII's. They'll start lobbing in dealers in December. The good news is, the base price appears to be about $3K lower than the FG Mk1. Well, at least on the Mk1 and MkII XR6T ute's I that got quotes on today.
  16. Just to keep this thread running.... Why are people using reset leaf springs instead of just using lowering blocks ? Is there a particular reason for going through the extra hassle of resetting springs ? I haven't seen a final word on what's happening with Fords changes to stop CV damage from lowering, does anyone have an update on that ? If we're talking busting CV joints on the axles, what's that got to do with two piece tail shafts being a fix for this issue and why only auto trannie utes being affected ? Is there an answer out there ? I don't have a ute to look at, does anyone have an exploded parts list or something that shows the set up so I can understand this problem better ?
  17. My missus reckons if she wants to see a giant nob, she just looks over at me. On another note, I went to see a dealer and it turned out that I know the sales guy, which was handy. So this dealer has their first MkII XR6T ute with luxury pack arriving in early december so they are on their way. But there will be no price incentives on it so I will pay full whack. They dont have pricing for the SII's yet but based on S1 price, this one will be up around $51k, which I'm having trouble swallowing. The sales guy could not locate any Seres 1 XR6T's around on his computer but will check further for me next week. So, my options are.... take one of the N/A XR6's that are in stock (boooo !), or send out emails to all the Perth dealers I can think of to see if they have any Series 1 Turbo utes around, or pay full whack for the new model when it comes, or buy an AFM SS Commie ute (double boooo !) The commie is nice enough but I'd really rather the Ford so unless they come in with a very, very good price, I won't go that way. Ford's fleet discounts are sh*t so this might still win as I believe Expensive Daewoo can do decent fleet discounts. Regarding the N/A XR6, TBH, I'd rather buy an XL and lower it, put some wheels on it and stuff to make it a cool cruiser than have a stock XR6. I'm still keen on the Series II XR6T ute because I want six cyl fuel economy but also want to be able to bag it up if I want to impress the kids down at the milk bar. So, after all that, I think I still want the Series II but I might just let go of my dick for a bit and not get the luxury pack model which will keep the price closer to $45k than $50k. I get the GST back as well so that means it really costs me just over $40k odd. So next week, I will start emailing dealers and see if theres any Series I's around town for sale, I will also scout out prices for a Series II, if the SS ute comes in at stupid price, then I'll have to consider that one too, but it's running a distant third.
  18. Thanks for the tips. I don't plan to mod the ute but I can't promise anything. My history has shown that I find it hard to resist messing with something that was perfectly good to start with so we'll see. If I get a series 1 cheap, that could justify some mods like nice wheels and a bit of lowering maybe. The new turbo bike is fuel injected so it should be much better behaved. The old one is a full on beast to ride and will lift the front wheel in any gear and at any speed but I have trouble getting a consistent run out of it so I end up going out first round every time. I'll only need to carry one bike and some gear and I'm set on the styleside but I'll go check out a dealer today and see what the tie downs look like.
  19. So there I was, scouring the web and looking for the release date of the MKII FG XR6T ute when I stumbled across this forum so I thought I'd join up and see what's what. My name's Phill and I live in Perth SOR, am 44 or something or other. Current wheels are...ummmm A VE V6 Berlina, lowered with some wheels and stereo and stuff A dirty old 82 Porsche 928 with a half done LS1 conversion that I havent touched for like, a year. 07 Harley Roadking 1992 Turbo Intercooled GSXR1216 Streetfighter (currently parked in the naughty corner and retired from drags because turbos and carbs on bikes just sh*t me) 2001 GSXR1000 Streetfighter (currently being turboed and set up for drags with air shift, lock up clutch, swingarm extensions) 2006 GSXR1000 Streetfighter (my roadbike now after deciding to race the 2001) and Probably soon to be XR6T Ute I'm just about to finish building a house (well, the builder is) so there'll be pot plants and furniture to buy and I've got the bikes which need to get to the track or whatever, so that's enough excuse for me to justify getting a ute. The missus was easy to convince, she gets to step out of her Corolla and into the Commie with the 20" wheels, so she reckons she'll be all gangsta and sh*t...... or whatever old chicks get when they think they're cooler than the other nanna's. So I'll be looking around and mainly trying to decide whether jump now and buy a current model ute, wait a bit for a MK11, or if they're ages away, maybe buy a clunker ute until they come out. So, if anyone know's anything about when they're coming on sale, I'd love to know. Also, what's the tie down system like for bikes in the tray ? In the mean time, I'll have a look around this place and make sure you're all doing this internet thing right. Cheers Phill
