Since I got the car (2014) I noticed how hot it gets under the bonnet & how long it stays warm for. So I've been looking at different vents (the Yanks call them "heat extractors") that don't look like cheap plastic chromed junk stuck on with double sided tape & last year I saw just the thing that I think will help the heat problem, looks good & also has a way to stop any water coming into the vent & dripping all over the hot engine or any wiring. I'm not going to say what my solution is yet, as I'm waiting on a damaged bonnet from over east with all the bits I need intact, so I can see how it might fit on the XR8 bonnet. Thanks to all the criscrossing underside bits the main sheetmetal is welded to, I need to see what size holes I need cut out & if the vent sizes limit my placement options. All I will say is it's not the Peugot vents someone did a few years back. It's also not the XC Falcon vent bonnet which I saw a few years back on I think it was an (Octane?) FG XR6T, as I do like it for XR6T's but think it's too overt for G6ET's.

It sucks if you're behind web security appliances like ours, that block sharing sites such as Imgur, half the time I have to wait until I get home to see posted photo's from the forum. Now that I have a new phone that doesn't drop back to HSDPA all the time, it should be different now.

The last AMD I bought was when the Athlon X2's came out and I haven't really kept up on the differences because since the Core2's first came out, Intel have just always seemed to be in front.

Anyone jumped ship from Intel to AMD lately? The last couple of months I've been putting together a wish list to replace the Intel i7-930 I built back in 2010, which in the last week has given me two BSOD's that everything I've looked at points to CPU/motherboard, as I ran RAM testing for 48+ hours straight and it all came up 100% plus I swapped RAM between slots and replaced the Corsair RAM with some spare Kingston's I had laying around, so it doesn't appear to be RAM. The current list was basically Intel Core i7-7700K CPU, MSI C236A Workstation board, GTX 1060 6GB GPU and 2x Intel 256GB M.2's but has since been swapped over to Samsung MZ-V6E250BW 960 Evo M.2 250GB drives. However talking to one of the guys today, he said to look at the new AMD Ryzen's, especially as the thread count is higher compared to the Intel's. I don't game anywhere near as much as I used to but I do intend to get into video editing soon, so I'm wondering which is the better platform, I have two whitebox Servers for my VM needs, so it's basically general duties for this PC plus video editing.

Just let my old man know to expect a Lightning Strike coloured XR8 bonnet turning up on his doorstep over the next week. I just need two more things to turn up and then down to a panel beaters to get some modifications done.

A quick question, has anyone here had to courier a large part like a bonnet to W.A.? I am just waiting on a price to ship a bonnet to Perth from the wrecker over east, depending on the price, I would like a backup plan or another other quote to see if they are comparable. It appears that might be the way we are heading, I don't know about yearly checks but it appears we might get checks for older vehicles. Other states have them and I do agree with them from a safety viewpoint but in our states case, I suspect it's more of a revenue raising thing. If they were really worried about safety, why the hell do they keep giving repeat offenders extraordinary licenses or for the ones that just don't seem to give a damn, fines and no prison time?

Just looked at posts on Street Commondores W.A. and Steel Bumper Cruises W.A. It appears people at the recent Claremont Hot Rod show all of a sudden received letters advising that there cars would need to go over the pits prior to being able to pay their registration this year. I can't get into Failbook at work otherwise I would post the links plus both sites are closed groups and I'm waiting for one to give me access so I can see exactly what the deal is.

Has anyone heard anything about there being a crackdown in W.A. for modifying vehicles? One of the guys here at work said Dept. Transport are cracking down, including going to car shows like the recent one at Claremont and stickering modified cars, checking social media and if you car has been on a dyno, sending you a notice to have it checked and now having a KW per tonne limit not a cc per tonne limit. I've only just been told about it, I believe the guy as he's been in the scene for years and is the one who put me onto Rob. If this is for real, this means all the car modification shops are going to be spewing not to mention whether it's going to impact on Racewars if numpty's from transport turn up and start pestering car owners.

Stever must be liking the wet weather for extra skids factor today. At least I got the underbody washed three times on the way to work.

Well I'm so optimistic because I made sure they are not being delivered by Australia Post.

It will be an even happier Wednesday if both the new mobile & case do actually both turn up tomorrow like the tracking shows.

I had my mum driving me around all last weekend & the only things she found different between my G6ET & her AU XR6 were no manual in my car & the pedal feel in my car was different she said, which makes sense. My car is not highly tuned so behaves about the same as a stock XR6T.

I don't know what feels weirder, being the passenger in my own car for 3 days or the feeling when you see someone else drive off when you drop it in to get work done. I did like the comment "what's making that sound like a plane taking off" from mum though.

There was a conversation about this in I think it was the off topic thread & those ranges are basically normal. Some people have the non stock temp thermostat (108 farrenheight iirc) which their tuner installed. I bought my G6ET with basically XFT's stage 1 package which had the gapped spark plugs, ID1000 injectors, XCAL 3, "cooler thermostat" & tune already done by the previous owner. However the first thing I did was get it checked over & serviced & was told the thermostat was leaking. So I emailed XFT & was told by them what thermostat to get & the seal part number, as it could have been either thing that was faulty. I got both because it cost lest than $30 for both, so really cheap insurance. Just an additional tip or two, Ford apparently don't ever change the diff oil, so I would get that done plus maybe get the fuel filter changed depending on the age & K's of the car.

Not legal to drive even with glases. To put it into perspective, I can stand on the opposite side of a normal 1 lane each way road & still have trouble reading a license plate, that's how blurry everything is to me even with my glasses. My glases lenses are $400 each & are specially ground in Japan & are the strongest prescription you can get. That's why I couldn't drive from 2001 to 2014 until contact lense technology improved enough. It's also why I'm pissed Toby Abbott cut funding to the CSIRO who were actually working on the only real solution to my type of eye problem.

So bored right now, I have to leave my contacts out for 48 hours (I have a specialist's appointment Monday) so I cannot drive this weekend & I'm just sitting around going nuts because there's nothing to do but boring stuff like gardening.

Stereo wise you can always go aftermarket. Most head units have USB & blue tooth connectivity, some even have BT streaming connectivity & the ability to use the audio controls on the steering wheel. I've looked at a few of the major manufacturers & have seen single DIN units that easily fit in the space below the factory ICC that have all the features I mentioned. Quick question, any good sites that sell new mobiles that don't sell international/grey imports but proper Aus. spec models? I've been meaning to replace the S3 for the last few years but nothing really interested me, I'm looking at the LG G6 but everyone only wants to sell it for full RRP by the looks of it. I'd like to get one before end of this month, that way I can start claiming it on tax.

Never seen it, I still haven't seen Gangnam style or however it's spelt either. My YouTube lists are all Chrisfix, Roadkill, XR6T, G6ET & similar stuff. I must be boring.

I have no problem with the cold at all but then I'm up by 4:30 & riding to work on the bicycle by 5. So I'm well & truly used to it after 7 years of doing that Mon - Thur. The only time I don't ride is in hail or lightning. I love the rain as I know I'll have a nice hot shower when I get to my destination.

Maybe my sister, her little ones are 3 going on 4 & a soon to be 5 year old who is really excited about not being a "little" boy anymore.

Every time there's an attack in London we spend half a day trying to find out if my sister and her family are fine. The time difference sucks.
