I have KU39s and think they are pretty good, but haven't had any high end tyres to compare them too. they seem grippy enough for me, tyre life is rubbish though, I got 15k out of first set, second set might see 25k, maybe.

how do you mean? are they less durable than the factory mounts? I have a set of inconel studs for the turbo flange and stage8 bolts to go on when I do this job. might even send the exhaust mani off to get ceramic coated just because while its all in bits.

I'm considering a set of the redesigned Technico ones as one of mine is rooted. Other than some vibration (which may or may not be dialed out with idle adjustment) will there be any other nasty side effects? other random bolts loosening?

seems like a lot going on with that Police Interceptor's rear door glass.

Aren't there a few guys in the forum who work at ford? Perhaps they could clear this up? I would hope brochures get proof read by at least one monkey

FGII brochure: FGX brochure: I know brochures can be wrong, but can someone confirm that the XR8 does have the ZF tranny? According to the FGX brochure, only the XR6T has the ZF??

I've seen quite a few FGX in Sydney. A few taxis, a few tradie utes. all base models though except one XR8.

just shone a torch down through my oil cap, looks very clean and new but I can see marks on the cam :( its a BF with 89,500km. I bought it June 2009 with 26,000km on it. The oil was changed every 4 months (3 times a year) which is about every 4000km, until a few years ago when I changed to 6 monthly changes which is probably 5500-6000km. At first I used Nulon 10w40 for about a year, then Castrol Edge 0w40, then after it got tuned (280rwkw) Edge 10w60. Now I hardly drive it, so it doesn't get driven hard/hot I use the same Amsoil 10w40 that Rednose uses.

how often? hopefully not only every 15k. any reason to use a dealer over a trusted licensed mechanic?

89,000km. I've changed the heat exchanger at 30k and 70k. I won't do it again, if it goes I'll deal with the consequences or trade in the car (just quietly)

the adaptive mode in Sports (yes it still adapts in Sports mode) 'counts' quicker, so if you are driving hard on a windy section of road in Sports mode, it will change its shifting behaviour and start banging itself back into 2nd gear when you brake for the corners much quicker than if you drive the same but in normal D. edit: well this is true in my BF, I'll assume the stock tune ZF in FGs are the same.

I understand all that, but how much has Ford spent on this update? on a car which sells bugger all because they don't advertise them or want to sell them anymore? which will only be available for a 2 years? perhaps they should have just done an FG3 with more mild changes and dropped the price/thrown in every extra for free, and they would have still been ahead $$$ wise. And make all the punters who buy the last xr8 s/c 5.0 for $40 fully loaded winners.

I'm on the fence with the new one, it looks ok but it seems a bit of a cheap send off, just new front and rear. without a vastly improved interior, what has been the point really? just to blend in styles from global ford models? I thought FG2 would grow on me more than it has, whereas FG1 looks more like a complete design. and since nothing has been said about the xr6t getting the 310 tune (or has there been?), then I really think the FG1&2 will be the cars people will still want to buy in the future (if low km and original).

I would say if movement of the stalk has cleared the fault then there must be damage to the wiring there, it just may be very hard to see

Maybe sedan has auto headlights and utes don't? Not sure though

My first sign of a fault at the indicator stalk was the "lights on" reminder logo flashing in the lcd screen. Then one day the headlights turned off when I indicated left. This prompted me to suss it out and solder in some new bits of more flexible wire. Pain in the ass fiddly job, I believe the replacement part is cheap but my car had only 50,000 km on it so I wouldn't put much faith in the replacement bits anyway.
