Respray The Car
Wow, How long's a piece of string? My brother ownes a premium panel shop on the Central Coast with the full monty spray booth. There are a lot of different types of quality in spray jobs and the associated costs. Paint quality, number of coats, number of clear layers, preparation etc etc. If I rememeber he does jobs from about $4K to $8K. There's probably a lot of good shops in Sydney, just research and find out what you get for your bucks!

New Fg Xr6, Couple Of Questions!
I find the outside temp is within about 2 degrees of the actual, which is not bad. Remember you have to have air travelling over the sensor (car moving) to get the most accuratre temp reading. It also takes a couple of minutes to stabilise.

Dealer Paint Protection?
I don't disagree. My additional final comment on this is that in my experience it has helped me in resale, as the people who have bought my cars have all commented how good the paint is after 4 years. If you've got better things to do with $900, then go for it.

Dealer Paint Protection?
I've had the tint/paint protection on my last 3 cars, and I will certainly recommend it. But the protection is no excuse for lack of attention. I think the proptection works well when you look after it long term. Keep it clean and look after it. If you're getting protection so you won't need to look after it - bad mistake. For example, my current car is Seduce 2008 model. A friend of mine at works has a Seduce G6 2009 model without paint protection and put side by side the difference is easily seen. My colour looks much deeper and certainly cleaner. NEVER us a car wash place, it's like acid.

Need Help, Have To Step On The Gas To Start The Car?
As RHR says. Exactly the opposite. Stepping on the gas to start is bad. Injectors, Throttle body problem most likely. I would expect the car to show other problems as well. Particularly at higher revs.

I agree totally. But still should be fun to watch.

Bluetooth Hands Free To Fg Falcon Does Not Answer
My 9700 Bold works perfectly. Except I don't get the ring tone through the stereo like I used to with my Nokia. Bit annoying. They all seem to work a little different. But send and answer calls - no problem.

Reverse Sensors
Has anyone had sensors fitted to their 6T sedan after the purchase? Did Ford do it? Happy with the result? How much did it set you back? Been thinking of doing it. Likewise with the reversing camera option for the FG.

Paint Protection
If I recall the PP states you need to refresh it every 12 months to retain the warranty. If you don't it runs out after 12 months anyway. I'll check my papaerwork, but I think that's the case. I've never bothered to do it BTW.

Paint Protection
This is good. Thanks for that. Having purchased paint protection on the last 3 cars and selling them every 4 years, I can say that the $ for paint protection have been worth it. OK I'm serious about paintwork and keeping it clean. But I have no doubt that it works long term as every buyer of my cars have commented how good the paint work is. Now having said that the McQuires clay looks very interesting, but am I picking up differing opinions about how good it is? The video says it's not abrasive, but others say it is. The other issue is will the clay bars take off the paint protection that's on it? I've mainly used cleaner on my care, not polish. Always after a better result. Is it worth it?

Fg Paint (Poor) Quality
My FG paint in Suduce is pretty much perfect. I am very picky and the dealer knows it up front. I also always get paint protection when I buy them even though this has a mixed result as reported in other forums. I would only lightly polish it once of twice a year. But I do wash it every weekend rain or shine. Keeping the paint clean seems to be the secret. Don't park under trees and be on the lookout for foreign matter on the painwork. I really cannot complain about the FG paintwork at all.

Is This Guy For Real?
It's got a Millon K's on it so I don't think I'll go for it.

Angel Eyes
Each to his own I guess and if you like them - go for it, but I can't see why angel eyes are so popular. I think they look horrid, and have not seen any that look any good on any of the imports either. I drove an A5 in Europe last month and had a chance to have a good look at them. My opinion was actually increased. Interested in opinions.

Apple Ipod Thread (Merged Topic)
My iPod sounds very good. If it is obvious the difference then there's something wrong. Remember that iPod is Mpeg3 compression. the encoding quality makes all the difference. Personally I think it's pretty good but it will never equal CD.

Too Much Engine Braking On Throttle Liftoff?
The engine braking and ZF operation is a bonus. Much better in the long run particularly when you're on cruise control going down hill. Don't knock it. I have also noticed more obvious of you're driving it a bit harder, but that's part of the design as well.

Gps Maps
Good luck with that idea. There used to be some places on the net where you can download pirate Navman maps onto DVD or stick. I guess they have it for TomTom as well. I did it years ago for an old system I had, but these days they are pretty sophisticated. The maps are down loaded from the web for most systems and you have to buy them. They now have a map update service which costs you about $20 per qtr to update your maps. I gave up the pirate stuff. Just not worth the effort. At least the update service is a bit cheaper than replacing the maps every year or so. I have all the maps of the world cos I travel a lot. Worth every penny IMO. Hopefully other members might be able to help.

Gps Maps
Don't know but really doubt it! All GPS maps are country wide, otherwise what's the point. You can get "parts" of Europe but again country by country.

Dunlop Sp Sport 2030 Tyres
The Sport Maxx tyres are good up to about 25K but I find they go away when they wear down a bit. Mine are still OK at 28K but I'll be looking at other options by 35K. I must admit I have had good wear out of them though.

Erratic Idle Issue! Need Any Help On This Problem!
I had an idle problem om my FG. I don't think this is the same problem you have but you never know and you sound desperate. My problem was an idle speed of ~750 RPM at first intermitttamt and then all the time. It tooks Ford 3 trips to find the problem. It was a pressure sensor on the steering which connects to the ECU. It was faulty causing the ECU to think there was an increased load on the engine and therefor higher revs. Don't even know if the BA has the same sensor. one of the Ford senior technicians found it in the end. But anyway good luck.

V8Supercars
The whole V8 Supercar race business is corrupt and lacks consistency. I didn't watch the race (I've only watched about 30 laps of Bathurst all year) but clearly a lot were upset about it. Why don't Ford just pull out of it all together? What's the point These organisers don't deserve the success. Chuck it in. When you think of it though, many other sports are being ruined by the organisers. Not just V8 Supercars. olympics, Rugby, Cricket, you name it.

Go The Blue Oval
Agreed. Also what about Toyota, that was another. Haven't heard any more about that for ages.
