October 26, 201015 yr #1 Hi guys,I spoke to someone today that said you can update the cd for the satnav maps for just the state you live in and its only $30-$40 instead of updating for the whole country. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks.
October 27, 201015 yr #2 Don't know but really doubt it! All GPS maps are country wide, otherwise what's the point. You can get "parts" of Europe but again country by country.
October 27, 201015 yr #3 on the subject, sorry to thread steal..Does anybody know where u can get the latest Australia TomTom maps for download?? I presume u just stick them on an SD card that goes in the tomtom?Ive got a Basic tomtom One, which when new was like $480... now a measley $150. Well I want to get the latest aussie maps, and they will cost about $120+ for a new SD card.Shove that up your pie hole I say! Id rather buy a new unit. (which is obviously the idea planned by tomtom)
October 27, 201015 yr #4 Good luck with that idea. There used to be some places on the net where you can download pirate Navman maps onto DVD or stick. I guess they have it for TomTom as well. I did it years ago for an old system I had, but these days they are pretty sophisticated. The maps are down loaded from the web for most systems and you have to buy them. They now have a map update service which costs you about $20 per qtr to update your maps. I gave up the pirate stuff. Just not worth the effort. At least the update service is a bit cheaper than replacing the maps every year or so. I have all the maps of the world cos I travel a lot. Worth every penny IMO. Hopefully other members might be able to help. Edited November 2, 201015 yr by Dagabond Quote removed....
November 2, 201015 yr #5 Author Apparently the state only upgrade is for standalone gps's. Not the built-ins. Not sure.
November 2, 201015 yr #6 Does anybody know where u can get the latest Australia TomTom maps for download??TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systemsU have to install TomTom Home then plug youy GPS into your computer & buy the map off the site thru TomTom Home. It downloads to your computer & you load it on. It's pretty simple, it explains each step fairly well.
