Nope! OK on mine. I've got the premium pack etc. Climate control and audio have separate power buttons. The BA had the audio power button in the middle of the manual volume knob.
-
Ford have a habit - that's why they are probably not bankrupt like the others - of not changing a good package. If it aint broke don't fix it! Other than cosmetic stuff. The FG is the dogs bollocks in capability and looks and the best we've seen for a long while. Added to that you've got to spend BIG Commadom dollars to even come close to the FG6T and the Phoon in allround grunt. So why change it every year? The biggest challenge that Ford has now is how do they eclipse the FG?
-
Both stock? - no contest! Not even close. The 6T all the time. 100, 160, 200 - all of them +. Start in 2nd? LOL
-
Yeah, it's expensive for all cars with intelligent keys. If you lose 1 key and get another one and program it, it costs about $150-$200 depending on the car, because you use the one key you have to program the new one! If you lose both keys it is a big problem. Lesson for everyone unfortunately. Is this the best deal from Japota you can get?
-
Can't believe people still don't know this. Read the manual. Hold the OK button (FG)or the power button(BA) in for about 3 secs and it turns off. Do the opposite to turn it on.

Priceless and 100% accurate. What morons.

Anyone Had Any Issues With Warranty At A Dealership?
Pete A replied to axeman85's topic in General Tech
I thought some Govt depts bought cars without warranty. I think hire cars do this. Maybe the cops do as well. -
Which Turbo Falcon Will Be The Most Collectable
a topic replied to Pete A in Drag and Circuit Racing
To get back to the main point. I think all the "T" versions of the I6 will be desireable. Collectable is probably a hard ask as there is a lot of them around. But when the I6 engine stops production they will certainly have better resale. I think they are just a great car to keep for yourself. So much you can do with them. I buy a new car every 4 years. This is the first one I'm really thnking about keeping - maybe forever, and just buy another daily drive for work etc. The new V6 will have to be something really special to overtake just how good the I6 platform is. -
Which Turbo Falcon Will Be The Most Collectable
a topic replied to Pete A in Drag and Circuit Racing
Interesting topic. It's true that white silver and black are probably the most popular colours on new cars. However I think better resale is reached on cars other than white and silver certainly, maybe not so much black.. It does depend on the car style and the buyer it is appealing to off course. I have had a red AUII XR8 and a Mandarin BAII XR8* and had no problems at all selling them for a good price, and the colour was a main factor as stated by the buyer! But I know of other people who have trouble selling the white and silver XR's. OK there are a lot of factors to consider in selling a car, but an interesting point. Other views on this? -
What he said!

Just saw an ad on TV offering 5 year extended warranty as a new car deal. So it's on! We all should look into it $1,200 bucks for 2 years is not a bad deal. But it must be total cover and provided by dealers. I really don't trust these 3rd party extended warranty deals.
-
He may be right. Lifetime warranty I guess you are covered.

I had an 04 BAII XR8 with similar (but not as bad it seems) problems, twice. Particularly when stopped at lights. push the accelerator and it would all of a sudden slam into gear. Quite dangerous. I never had the dropping out of gear issue you have. Fortunately, it was under warranty and they swapped out for a new tranny twice. The 3rd box they put in was perfect and was still good when I sold it about 2 years later. What this means is, Ford (or my dealer) thought at the time the problem could only be solved by replacing the box. BTW, when they replaced the first box I was shown a heap of "sludge" which was in the bottom of the box when they took a look at it. The service manager at the time told me "this is terminal" The car was only 2,000K's old. The 2nd box went in when it was about 20,000ks. I'd be concerned about what they did when they rebuilt it. How much did it cost you?
-
I haven't had a water leak in a Falcon ever since I can remember. Maybe my XC has a leak I think.
-
No clunking issues with my FG. The BAII was pretty bad though.
-
If the problem was first reported while it was under warranty, then you should be covered even though you might have to bitch about it first. I would argue the point of the low fluid level. If they had to put 1L in it and there was no leak, then that could be a serious issue. Don't know what other advice to give. Good luck, but if the problem was first reported under warranty then you have a very strong case.

Completed the 15K service yesterday. Glovebox replaced no questions, They fixed the minor problem with the ZF. So all's good (touch wood)

Make the list as you said. NRMA still runs a very good vehicle inspection process. I've used it on cars coming out of warranty and they have discovered some issues that normally would not be picked up. Things like diff fluid low level and a weak A/C pipe. Ford fixed them based on the report from NRMA. Just a thought.
-
Has the Ford guys actually witnessed the problem? He's not just going by your description? If that's the case then there's no denying a problem exists. Is it still under warranty? If it is then they just have to fix it and be done with it. If it's not then that's a bigger issue. However they still should be able to tell what the problem is. These sorts of problems I believe can be caused by fluid issues. Maybe a service is required. How many K's has it done. I'm sure other members may be able to give you more sound advice.

I've sold a AUII XR8 and a BAII XR8 on the private market and both 4 years old (ex lease) and I've been very happy with both the deals I've got. A dealer offered me 16K for the AU as a trade and I just didn't bother after that. I sold the AU for $24K and the BA for 27K. I have found that the secret to selling privately is to make your car more appealing. I know this is an obvious statement, but there are private buyers out there willing to pay more for something better than run-of-the-mill in 2nd hand performance cars. My neighbour has been trying to sell his 4yr old SS ute for over 4 months. He may be asking too much for it I suppose and I haven't asked him, but I can tell you in my opinion why. It looks like every other black SS ute. Nothing stands out to say "buy me" to the 2nd hand buyer. The car must be spotless and get all the minor damage etc fixed before you sell it. Visual appeal is 50% of the battle selling a car. If possible it has to offer extras - lots of them. Best to fork out the extra when you buy it to make it easier to sell it! Thinks like leather, Premium sound good rubber and wheels. Some colours sell easier than others. The AU was red, and the BA was Mandarine. Dead easy colours to sell in a performance car. Comprehensive service record. As low Km's as possible to state the obvious. A lot of this is obvious but I see so many cars with for sale signs that turn me off just looking at them. The FG should be one of the best price value retention Fords in a long time - it's just that good. Let's see. Hope this helps.

OK Here we go. All were new except 1. 1. MK1 Cortina GT 500. Bathurst version. Wish I still had it now. Would be worth some dough. Bought it 2nd hand. 2. Escort GL. I was pretty broke then. 3. XB Fairmont 4.0L. I was less broke then. 4. XC Fairmont GS 4.9L V8. This was a big deal for me. Kept it for 9 years the missus ended up driving it. Great machine except for the rust! 5. EB II Fairmont Ghia 4.0L. This was a great car. never any real problems with it. 6. Fairlane Sportsman 4.0L. This was the best I'd had till then. Did have quite a lot of suspension problems after about 2 years. 7. AUII XR8. Corker, except for the diff problems and bloody squeeky handbrake. This was just a great machine. 8. BAII XR8. What a great drive! Loved this car. 2 transmissions and still the bloody squeeky handbrake, but loved it. 9. FG XR6T Current drive. Has it 10 months. The best Ford I've ever had without exception. Hope it stays that way.

Consequential damage due to failure is a big issue. With Ford or Expensive Daewoo or others it's in their interest to protect you even though they might winge about it. 3rd party insurers couldn't give a rats.
-
Oh! Different issue now. I thought it was a Ford warranty. 3rd party extended warranties I never trust. Good luck!

If the original problem occurred under warranty and the problem was to do with the Tranny, it's an easy arguement that any resultant Tranny problems would be covered. I mean, the tranny is covered by warranty anyway. One problem subsequently causing another problem is always a hard proove. I would write the dealer and Ford CR a letter stating your concern that the original problem has caused a potential longer term reliability problem with the transmission and you want your concern on record. See what happens!
