New Roads
My problem is not when or where the road works are being completed. In fact, hats off to the government for getting us some A1 roads around here (sic!) The problem is if they have introduced some kind of new ingredient into new roads that is such a sh*t to get off, they could have alerted us through the news media or similar?

New Roads
Anyone who lives in the Franskton area in Victoria will know that the amount of road works going on at the moment is just plain stupid. VicRoads and the council must need to spend their budget before the end of the financial year or something. Anyway, this dribble has a point. I washed the turbs today and the entire back of the car is covered in small black tar spots that will not come off. The same spots appear down both sides of the car below the plastic trim on the doors. These spots are also all over the rims (but come off the rims with careful and gentle scratching). Not happy! Normal bug and tar remover does not get it off. My old man told me there was a thing in the Herald Sun cars guide a couple of weeks ago about the compound in ashphault (sp??) being changed and now people can't get it off their cars. The sh*t is everywhere and no amount of tar remover and scrubbing gets rid of it. The old man said eucolyptus oil will, but I'm not very keen on dabbing euco oil all over the car. I am looking at an 8 hour job and euco oil (100% proper stuff, not the supermarket rubbish) is VERY expensive. Has anyone else had this? It's very noticable within 2-3 metres of the car. I letter to the manager of the local VicRoads office is in order. Shall be typed when I get to work tonight. :cussing: :reallymad: BA Turbs :angryfire:

My bad for starting a clour war. I apologise and HgAg is the best colour ever (if that will stop it going further... ) Hg = Mercury Ag = Silver The ol' periodic table. Your chemistry teacher told you it would be useful one day didn't he?

What a stunning entrance to the forums in the current climate! rodsute, best of luck with your problems, I hope they can be resolved. Whereabouts in Tassie are you from? Nice little corner of the world.... For a holiday! Great roads for you to go thrashing a properly tuned and running modified Turbo. Perhaps posting a copy of the printout provided to you when you get the vehicle dynoed on Wednesday may validate your (un)surprisingly inflamatory (not saying it was done on purpose!) first few posts BA Turbs

Look what I saw across the street today..
Great effect, but they spoiled it by not taking the tow bars off!

New Clutch
Jason. Great idea, but my dealer is very square and they told me that the XR6T clutch is the heaviest duty clutch that they will fit to a T5. I wasn't really consulted properly before the work was done either, they more spoke to the lease company.

Well, despite the colour of your vehicle, we are all friends here, so put on your dancing shoes (driving gloves) and tag along!

No More piggy back
So.... Not knowing anything about tuning or modding the T, I take it this means the computers/chips that modify/override the factory ECU are superflous? I wonder how much something like that costs?

My Kind of Cops
Hmmmm, I'll put up with all the "corupt" police that I have to work with here in Victoria if it means I don't have to drive a dedicated gas police car. We had a trial AU on gas, and I've got nothing against LPG, the Turbo is only the second car of the six I've owned that hasn't been on gas, but a good police vehicle it did not make. I am no photoshop expert, so the only thing that looks strange about that picture is its happening during the day, not during nightshift when there are no people around...

6 Ford Tissue Boxes - on e-bay $1
Which dealer do you use Blown? Coffey Ford bud....they even support MOD CARS too, they're great As we've discussed before, we live in the same area. Might be time for a change of dealer. Bit over the complete lack of interest, service or knowledge from the local dealer. *BACK ON THREAD* Besides, they didn't give me free tissues either.

New Clutch
They were basically implying that it was my driving. Like I said earlier, I don't dirve Ms Daisy, but I don't drive at 100% everywhere either. The gets a couple of little bursts a day of "spirited" driving.

New Clutch
The payment has already been made by the lease company. The car is leased, so I don't have much to do with maintainence issues other than dropping it off and collecting it. I make it an issue of mine when a new standard clutch costs $886, when there is no labour for removing the gear box, its already out! Might do the ring around and find out what a replacement clutch with no labour for removing the box should cost....

New Clutch
I mentioned in another thread recently that I was being given a new gearbox due to second gear having "slow" synchros. Basically this meant that on a full throttle and quick gearchange from first to second there would be a very loud crunch from the gearbox. When I took the car to Ford, they happily rang the gear box manufacturer and said they would ring me back the next day and tell me what they wanted to do about it. A week and a half later no reply so I rang Ford and was told that my brand new gearbox had arrived and needed to book a time to have it fitted. They were very busy so I agreed they could have the car for a few days and they could do it between other jobs. While the gearbox was out I got a phone call telling me that my SECOND clutch was going to be stuffed within 5,000kms. So that would mean that my car would be on its third clutch in 24,000kms. I don't thrash the car, but I don't drive Ms Dasiy either. Ford said I might as well get the clutch done now as it would save on labour, the gearbox was already out and it saved getting it out again soon to have it done. The cost of the replacement clutch was $886 including labour. This seems like straight out theft to me. How can it be so much when they apparently weren't going to charge me extra for labour? Anyone else here had to have a cluch done? They replaced the clutch, pressure plate and something else, but I can't remember what it was. The lease company has paid for it, but it simply doesn't seem right. Opinions?

What Now
The work cars have just begun getting two small speakers, only about 1.5"-2" across fitted in the panel above the centre air vents that the police radio operates through. The feedback through these speakers makes it almost impossible to hear what is being said. The whine when accelerating is almost an OH & S issue it is so bad, during urgent duties driving, you can't hear what is being said by any other unit or radio operator. Ford and the techs that fit the radios/speakers admitted that it was a major problem so combined their talents to come up with a solution. When they could not find one we were told "its not that bad, get used to it." I understand how frustrating this stupid alternator whine is, even without having suffered it in my own car!

Gadan's first birthday
That is a ripper of a prang. Best news is you are (basically) ok. Knowing that, we can now have a good look at the "remains" of GADEN and see that you can jam all your crash test data up your . I don't care if a Daewoo or Daihatsu gets 4 stars, I'll have a BIG car thanks. Again, like someone said, shows what a pitiful rail network we had and how prangs like this that don't have such a lucky result could be avoided with proper freight infrastructure. Best of luck fighting the good fight with the insurance companies! BA Turbs
