If you mean a heavy duty alternater (just like a taxi), that's your "police pack". Exciting isn't it?
  2. Camry + Vectra Camry boot, doors and roof line and similar to a Vectra front. Maybe if it does go front wheel drive and midsized we could have some part sharing with Toyota? We might all be driving around in "Fal-rys", or perhaps even "Camr-ons"? I great picture that has caused the discusion it was intended to and we've all added 67 million hits to the Age website to see what the "new Falcon" looks like.
  3. But is the game any good? I remember the other Ford Racing games and they were a bit
  4. For the dude that asked about BA shells, there is a hobby shop in Frankston (Vic) that can get clear ute and sedan shells, about $55 each. I nearly bought one of these little jiggers in a BA ute recently. Petrol powered with remote, was $500... Is that cheap? Oh, and the FJ40 body shell looks great, hats off to the person that tought of that!
  5. If you include fleet purchasing, the XT outsells all other models combined with plenty of margin. Private buyers is anyone's guess (except Ford I suppose...). But judging by what is seen driving around, the XR6 would certainly seem the most popular.
  6. Euco oil is the original duct tape, it'll do anything.

Between 1/4 and chime. And have recently paid over $1.15 a litre for Optimax (Too embarassed to say exactly how much!), so I wouldn't have too many issues with paying $1.06.
  8. Lads, I'm actually putting in to work there so I can go and watch the whole thing for free, whilst getting paid! Come up and say hello if you see me walking around. Not sure which day I will be there, the Sat or Sun. Regards, Antony
  9. Great looking automobile! :banghead: Love the rims too!
  10. I have faced an angry man on Ice. It was not a little man (and nor am I at 6'5"). This man was on a destructive rampage after being asked to leave a pub for colapsing another patron's face. O/C Spray had no impact on this person what so ever. The only way to control him was to wait for two more div vans to some from other suburbs with police on them big enough to tackle this bloke (Equal opportunity aside, I don't want a 5'6" waif of a female taking on an enraged, Iced up 6'+ male). In the end 7 male coppers, none of us small blokes, had the fight of our lives getting this guy under control & cuffed. He was also too violent to get into the standard van we have here, couldn't get the door closed. We had to get another secure custody brawler van brought out to transport him. When 7 large, armed men are fighting a loosing battle against 1 unarmed man, there is a problem. Now tell the guy that got smacked inthe pub that went through 6 months and $4,500 of facial reconstructive surgery that recreational drugs are harmless. The offender was a real estate agent (also a footy player, a big boy too) who was the most remorseful and apologetic bloke on two legs the next day. He was just a recreational user. I have also seen autopsy photos from America of an 18 year old girl that had an ice habit for six months. There were holes through her brain that you could put your finger in. It looked like a fat worm had chewed tunnels through it. I've posted more than enough in this thread, but when you deal with the results of people's substance abuse every day (legal or not legal) and then to hear someone telling me it is harmless.... It gets my back up because that is the attitude that feeds the culture. Oh, and the bikies that do the toy run I think are the Ulyssis (spl?) which is a gang of 50+ retirees who just look like a real motorcycle gang. They all worked at boring jobs like you and I then when they retire want a Harley. When they have finished their weekend ride they take off the leathers and put back on their Breakaway jumpers, Rivers jeans and Grosby Twin Zips and get back ont e couch watching Wheel of Fortune and drinking Toohey's Gold Mid Strength. It is not the Angels or the Banditos or anyone else like that giving out toys.

Rusht, I've only just turned the CDC on to see how it affected the sound. Cool avatar too! Mondie, That is what I was wondering. What size speakers com from factory? And I thought I read that to replace the 8" sub with a better one I'd need to order it in from o/s as no one imports them into Oz. Would that sound right? Even still, if it is fitted as poorly as the factory one, it is still going to buzz and vibrate anyway. Thanks for your replies! I will run a search shortly for other threads, but what are people's preferences for after-market speakers? I don't want the best sound outthere, just better than what I have.

I think the premium sound is great in isolation, but moving from one vehicle to the next, it sounded a lot different. I checked the settings, his car never changes other than volume and I haven't altered mine. Both were set up similar becasue I set his when he first got the car. Balance and faders are set biased towards the driver, treble on half, bass slightly more. Again, the AU Ghia sounds just sounded liek a much more expensive stereo. Not good enough with stereos to describe better than that.
  13. Could you point out where I said this please?
  14. wOULD YOU SAY THAT TO A BIKIE FACE TO FACE, I think not, nyway I bet you haven't raised more money for charities than you. So are you saying bikies are bad and the hundreds of thousands of dollars they raise for Sick Children is wrong? NO because I didn't find the affects to be fun anymore, I don't care that someone said its bad, or you can't do that. I make my own mind up. And I would never run for parliment because you can't play the game against liers and win. I avoid liers cheats and selfish people, like you avoid drugs. Mate, the bikies doing the toy run for kids aren't the same ones cooking speed in their barricaded club houses. And I have had very frank discussions with bikies. If I don't adopt an elitist attitude dealing with them, they are reasonable. This does not mean we agreed with each other's choice of profession. Also, last year, the National Bluey Day raised over $1,000,000 for children with cancer. The Police Station I work at raised $13,000 of that. What that has got to do with sniffer dogs though I'm not sure., but I'll answer your question. I think we are going to go around in circles here. You are obviously someone that does what he chooses. So be it. Thinking this attitude does not affect anyone else is perhaps a little short-sighted.
  15. Australia is in a Herion drought. Yes, herion has returned to our streets, but in nothing like the proportions it was here in during 1998/99 when it was at its peak. Herion has not been the primary drug of users for nearly four years now. It is the amphetemines that you are saying are harmless that most drug dependant people are using. Next time your car or house is broken into, don't call the police, write it off as charity if you don't think drug users are a problem. Why do you think that they would be stealing from you? Its not to buy bread for their starving family, I'll tell you that much. And that is the type of attitude that will never see the problem defeated. While people think that their or their mate's little habit is harmless, it isn't. As for police going for the people at the top, if there is no demand, then why supply it? Like I said, work both ways, from the top down and the bottom up. So a lawful search was conducted on you after the dog smelt the residual aroma of marijuana. The police exercised there lawful powers. To me it is a real endorsement of how effective these dogs are. If you don't want to be searched for drugs, don't come into contact with them. Also, if the police could establish your name and address (ID), no, you would not be arrested for smoking marijuana, its a summary offence. If you were still possessing it, then it is different. Some people seem to be taking it personally that I am strongly opposed to drugs. Always have been. Does not have a lot to do with being a police man, this has just increased my exposure to the effects and results of recreational & dependant drug use.

When I collected the Red Dragon nearly 12 months ago to the day now I was very keen to hear how the premium sound went. I was very happy with the premium sound in my previous EL Fairmont Ghia and assumed that the sound in the T would be better. I sold the EL 6 weeks before the new car was ready so I didn't get the chance fo ra back to back comparision. However, today that opportunity arose. I was driving my car with "The Killers - Somebody Told Me" belting out of the speakers on 20, content with the noises that were coming from the (alleged) 11 speakers. I parked in the drive, went inside, but got a phone call within a miute to go pick someone up from the train station. In that minute my brother had got home and parked his AU Fairmont Ghia inthe drive. I just jumped into his car and started her up. Guess which song was on? That's right, The Killers - Somebody Told Me. And didn't it sound about 483 times better on his stereo than mine. His car has the normal AU Ghia Premium Sound. The song had a much more solid sounding bass... aw hell, save all the adjectives, it sounds like his was a $2,000 stereo and mine was a $2.00 job. Is this likely due to the poorer quality CD Player, therefore laser, now fitted? Or is the main thing going to be the cheaper speakers? (Obviously both influence the sound, but which more so?) I know the bass is partly due to the subbie vibrating and distorting earlier than I think it should in my car. Very disappointing when a back to back comparison is done. I know nothing about stereos, so keen to hear from audiophiles if they have had any similar let-downs when their premium sound arrived. and what can be done cheaply to improve it.
  17. So you are saying who cares about speed cooks, dealers and all the Sudafed (& similar) runners that go through the chemists, all the bikie gangs. Forget about ALL of those criminal elements and just let people on a Friday/Saturday night go out speeding off their head. You have obviously never faced an angry football player on Ice wanting to cave your face in. Drugs aren't all beer and skittles, there is an ugly side. Also, please don't compare this to an angry drunk, its a very different situation. I am not telling you what you can and can't put in your mouth, the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act is, as written by legislators on behalf of the governmant that WE as a community chose to represent us. My opinion doesn't really come into it. Nothing I have stated so far is soley my opinion. So on one hand the police need to back off and give people there space, but on the other they need to move in and remove people's liberties? What you are saying here is that people of different social standings (ie, low income areas where drugs MAY be more prevelent) should have their liberties and freedoms removed more easily. The white collar occaisional kandy flippers buy their drugs from the same people the low-income serial substance abusers do. I still con not see how it is any different. OK, run for government then. Sounds like a great platform to get elected on. This debate has started at just the right time, I think little Johnny made an announcment today about this. Because its illegal and sustains an entire culture of other illegal activities.
  18. All right, so if buying and using Es is not sustaining the drug trade, where do Es come from?
  19. There is nothing innocent about recreational drugs. Cannabis can be an exception, if you grow your own plants, but otherwise people using illict drugs, whether it be a small amount or a lot, are still feeding a chain right up to the drug dealers at the top. That little white pill that gets bought for $30 or $40 has been through a chain of 5 people, and if its a good one, come all the was from Europe. Seems innocent at the bottom, but regardless of the frequency of use, using illicet drugs SUPPORTS A DRUG DEALER. Illegal drugs do not come from fairies, charity groups or chemists, they come from drug dealers and cooks. How would you like your house burnt down becuase your neighbour was an inexperienced speed cook and couldn't cook control his mix? Not innocent then is it. The police dogs do not bust innocent people either, they merely walk up and sit next to a person that has drugs in their pocket. No barking, no carry on, they just sit. I was involved in the trial of these dogs in Victoria. They are extremely well trained. In a room with 55 people in it they could tell who had amphetes int heir pocket, and could tell who had had them in their pocket recently. The dog handler can generally tell the difference fromthe way the dog behaves. Also, police need to form "reasonable grounds" before searching someone under the provisions of the Drugs, Poisons & Controlled Substances Act. A drug sniffer dog sitting next to someone is reasonable grounds. The searches are all therefore lawful. There needs to be a diversified approach to combating drugs. Making silly statement s like "catch the dealers at the airport" is a single approach. Catching the users, as well as having areas in the police force such as the Major Drug Investigation Unit to investigate the people at the top of the chain is the best approach. Ignoring weekend use of amphetes will just result in more people's DVDs getting stolen and more pensioners having their money stolen at ATMs (By the innocent drug users).
  20. Any car can be stolen with enough determination and a tow truck. Also, what were the circumstances? I have taken reports for $180,000 AMG Merc 4WD. You'd think that had a decent security system, and it did. Problem was, the owner's house didn't. Crooks did a burg, took his home hi-fi gear (massive $$$ in itself) then drove away in his 4WD loaded to the gunnels with his stuff. They found the keys sitting on the bench. Better than the stolen VK wagon they had been getting around in!
  21. My T5 happily clunks away loudly with the best of 'em now. Never used to do it, nor did the diff used to whine, only since the new gearbox.
  22. Oh Yeah! That's great! I can't believe it was ignored! Solid Gold effort.
  23. Why? I would say that the majority of Elvis' posts have been well put through and on topic. The same could not be said for all of his detractors. There is a difference between having NFI and someone having an opinion different to your own. As far as getting back on topic, as I have said, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but is that opinion really qualified until you have actually had to face the outcome of what this sort of driving can result in? I am a realist, I know what I and a good percentage of other people out there do whilst driving their automobiles, but Elvis has copped a fair flaming just for voicing an opinion that is different to the majority!
