Yeah, it will be interesting to see if they change over the gearbox for you, will they give you a T5 or a T56? I think you may still get the old unit! No the box won't be changed because I won't have it for much longer anyway. To be honest the whole clunking issue has only been an issue for me because it was spoken about on these and other forums, otherwise I didn't really think much of it.

JB I agree on the clutch issue. But what I am trying to say is that I easy the clutch rather than double clutch and let the revs drop 500rpm from the upchange point and there is no clunk. I can also make it sound quite bad by having it in third and going on and off the accelerator too. So to a point it is the way we drive as well. The best thing to do is to stay on top of it with your Ford dealer and something will be done about it. It will also be interesting to see what happens with the 6 speed as well.

The fact that Ford dont make the diff or gearbox is l am sure known by all, its one of the reasons Ford give to hide behind a fix. Of course it doesnt diminish Fords responsibility for the problem at all. They set the specs, the price they are willing to pay for a component and the minimum acceptable tolerances. You're a better driver than me if you can adapt so your car doesnt clunk 100% of the time. l can eliminate it if driving sedatley but during spirited driving its impossible, for me anyway. Spirited driving is a different story. General day to day driving after 18000km I have adjusted my driving style and become used to that style. That's in my case anyway.

In all this I hope everyone is aware that Ford don't actually manufacture the diff and the gearbox. Dana Spicer manufacture the gearbox. I have the clunk in the v8 XT as well but I have also adapted to driving it so that it doesn't happen at all, and that wasn't hard to do at all.

Probably because quite alot of members of this forum have their vehicles under a novated lease. Even if this doesn't apply to you it's good nonetheless to see how much you are getting ripped off by isn't it? Trent. Each to their own in that respect. I'd rather not know.

I fail to see why people post national fleet or government pricing to the general public when most will never have that privilige. It gives people the wrong impression and makes them feel that they are being ripped off when they pay $2-3k more, which for a private buyer is probably a good price.

If a member has received great service and/or deal on their new car (after all this site is about our cars) shouldn't this be allowing on the site? Yeah there will be colours that you can get in the whole range rather than exclusively for XR and FPV.

Pauly, I don't believe Ford have brushed you off. As a company constantly bringing out new products they have the right to confidentiality. I'm sure we'd all like to know and we will find out at the end of this year not 2005.
