  1. Happy Birthday 7MA61!

  2. Car is AWD so it doesn't do skids haha. Nah I was well behaved when I had the BA and won't be any different now. Will keep an eye out for a thread.
  3. I would be keen for a run if one is organised that is if you don't mind a Toyota tagging along, unless I can steal my Dad's ute .
  4. IMO it doesn't count as breaking Murphy's time, you can't compare times in open practice to a one lap dash session. So many more opportunities to put in a perfect lap compared to a one lap pressure situation.
  5. GS - 545Nm from 2000-5500rpm GT - 570Nm from 2000-5500rpm Vs F6 - 565Nm from 1950-5200rpm Not massive but I reckon plenty more is lurking with small mods
  6. At the end of the day they are 2 very different approaches to achieving a similar power figure. The Turbo 6 will probably win in a straightline but put them round a circuit and especially a damp track the the GT will be quicker. The V8 has a much more linear power delivery and therefore you can feed the throttle on earlier. Have a look at the motor Hot Tuner comparo on a Wet track the 2 turbos were well off the pace (though one had mechanical issues) compared to similar powered V8s. It is also better balanced having a shorter alloy engine. What sucks is the GS & GT being under the FPV banner they will only have a 1600kg towing capacity in auto which simply isn't enough for me .
  7. Of course it'll rev higher then the 5.4 it doesn't have a stroke over 100mm lol. I'm hoping they revive the XR8 with an NA version as it will be far cheaper to insure then something with an FPV badge.
  8. Main straight of EC you can
  9. You'll miss it and want another one. I sold my BA at the start of last year, put simply nothing keeps pulling like one in a straight line. I have never been in a car for the price which pulls as hard above 200kmph as an XR6 Turbo. I am currently waiting for FGs to hit a decent price and it will replace my current ride as a daily and will make a great tow car to take my Caldina to the track. In saying that, the Turbo would not get anywhere near my Caldina off the line or on a twisty road I love it to bits. I reckon I wouldn't of missed it that much had my dad not got an FG Turbo ute, if my BA was as good as it I wouldn't of considered selling it.
  10. Car mags reliable source I know seem to suggest it runs 0.1 bar less boost, so may be a slightly larger pulley. Could once again easily be fixed by buying a GT pulley & custom tune. Man they are going to struggle to clear old stock and used prices of the 5.4L is going to plummet haha.
  11. Just don't do what my cousin did in his, traction control in the wet, bit too quick round a bend & straight into the rock wall . I don't think the exterior is as bad as the interior that bad boy is a straight lift out from a taxi, they say the best thing about an AU is driving it because that way you don't have to look at the outside
  12. Got to drive my dad's FG ute home tonight (50km). Big improvement over my old BA, stock it feels like mine did with a 10 pound generic map. Bastard makes me miss my old car.
  13. Well they're is a turbo in the family again. My dad needed a ute to cart stuff up to a unit they just bought. So went shopping today and talked him into a 2008 FG Xr6 Turbo (6 Speed Manual) . Now I just need to steal it for cruises
  14. Its not that front heavy as the engine is almost mid mounted. It is built for Targa purposes. They guy who built it is on the Toyota Forums I'm on as they also built 2 front Mid mounted 2jzgte AE101 2 door Corollas. Current build is a late model MR2 with fibreglass shell & Turbo Hayabusa motor.
  15. Only really useful for drags/track car use. You'd be lucky to get 200km from a tank from it. If your fuel system was nearing its limits on 98 ron you'd be upgrading it to run e85.
  16. Regular forum whore yeah, but when I have my T I only saw him on like 1 cruise.
  17. Quite a few regulars missing. rapid, Merc, robbo etc

I'll appluad his effort of defending his position in an average handling car for close to 40 laps. A tail happy car on a wet circuit takes a lot of talent to keep straight let alone defend your position with someone up your clacker. At the end of the day he was defending second place so had every right not to let the others pass. None of them could match his outright speed in a straightline so they couldn't get close enough under brakes if they couldn't pass it's not his job to yield and sit wide to let them through.

Flags aren't use when racing for position besides the car had far superior straightline speed.
  20. Put me on the procrastinator list. If I have nothing else on I'm keen if you can tolerate a toyota amongst the ranks. At least I won't be in a boat this time.
  21. It comes down to business. Ford pulled funding from 888 Motorsport a while ago because their main sponsor is vodafone & thus the cars are predominantly red & silver. Ford didn't see this as a good way to represent their brand as the colour is blue. Roland obviously got a decent sponsorship deal from Expensive Daewoo and so jumped ship. When various teams are on the verge of folding and some team owners pouring their own cash in like Johnson you could hardly argue with the management decisions if they were offered decent cash to swap camps. They may be at the pointy end of the field now but if you don't have the funds to stay their well you have to do something about it. Roland Dane made it apparent when he entered the V8 Supercar scene that he wanted to emulate Pro Drive & more locally SBR in terms of being a team that builds cars. To do this you have to have a decent development budget, if ford aren't going to continue tipping in coin their product would cease being the market leader & thus the business of being a builder would lapse.
  22. Excuse me but are you not forgetting where Lowndes came from in the first place. Ford did the exact same thing back then. Ie Setup new team, bring in Fred Gibson & wave cash infront of Lowndes.
  23. Very true, mine were awesome. Got about 18,000kms out of them. Went to Ozzy tyres to get replacements and they didn't stock them anymore . Excellent value for money tyre. On a stock T running 275/30/19's you are hard pressed to lose traction in the wet. Did a run out of Jenolan caves. Full throttle out of tight second gear corners in the wet & it just gripped and charged out of the corners. On the couple of times they lost traction it broke away so smoothly.
  24. Brakes would of been nice.
  25. Dude your STI is fuggin quick too. Awesome acceleration on the freeway.
