Guys,

I've now bought three sets of extra bright headlight globes and had all of them blow in a short period of time - a few months. And NO I have not touched the globe! The first globe to blow was on my bike - the rest were in the XR6.

As my car was at Spiro's for some other work, I got them to fit an Osram globe to replace the blown globe in the RHS headlight. I should have got them to do both with Osram globes because the extra bright globe in the LHS has now blown. Spiro's mechanic said they've had similar experiences with these extra bright globes and as a result, they have switched to standard Osram globes. I wonder if Osram makes extra bright globes?

I had a set of Phillips high power globes years ago and never had any trouble. If I see Phillips globes on special, I might give them a try again.

Anybody else had similar problems?

PAH

I have problems with extra bright globes, but only when they are behind me or coming the other way :)

From memory Narva and Osram are the same. I've used a few sets of Narva 50+ in the EL and I think the Narva packs sometimes contained Osram branded globes.

Get about 18 months on average I think. Reflectors in EL XR headlights are tiny, and these made a big difference.

Can't remember which thread it was but a couple of people were saying that the Philips globes only lasted about 12 months and I posted that the Philips Crystal Vision globes in my car were just on the 12 month age and going strong....

About a month back - making the globes about 14 or 15 months old - one blew so I had to replace them....... 90 bucks a pair for h4

Yep bought some Philips and they blew after a bit over a year (30,000km odd I guess), I have bought some sort of whiter but not white globes, forget what they are. Not as nice as the Philips Blue Vision but better than stock. Seem OK and didn't cost much.
