Excellent Cold Air Box

Featured Replies

:nyaah: Hi all

Missed the site when it was changing over.

I have found an excellent very effective and cheap (compared to SS induction) airbox mod from Brattern Performance, that bolts in in 10minutes, (no cutting or chopping). The system incorporates an XR8 airbox and lower intake with an adaption to attach the standard T intake into the airbox. I had one fitted this morning and immediately noticed significant low end and mid range responsiveness. This is what you get in the kit. Modified XR8 intake pod, XR8 intake tube, pod hat, tubing, K&N filter, plus brackets. All fits in in 10 minutes and there is a definate torque gain. Heres the good parts. It looks pretty much stock, there are no deflectors to steal cold radiator air, the K&N filter is included and best of all only $350 all up. SS without K&N over $550. These guys are located in Perth but have been supplying this modified box for XR8s to incorporate the T inlet on the sidewall of the box. They will send anywhere. Well worth the money for the gain I reckon.

A damned good investment I reckon, nice blokes too. Such a shame their are so many rippoffs out there ducatijb. JUST DO IT, get your T a Chrissy pres. This is the best noticable value for money bolt on I have bought so far. Also staring at a PWR intercooler 370X365 bolt in $875 (twice factory size with 1.5lb restriction) Jan 04 will be an interesting time :hrmm:

D'Oh ,would have been handy to know, as I had fitted this morning SS cold air induction $399 , already had BMC panel filter $ 150 Total $550. Looks like I got the panel filter as a bonus v your quote on the SS gear.

Certainly noticed the difference with the extra air after fitting the filter, but the Cold Air intake seems to have added a good bit extra.

also got better power low down / mid range, smoother delivery and winds up quicker , so I am certainly not unhappy.

One concern I did have was the potential for the air deflectors to cause increased temp from diverting some air from the radiator.

Good news ( touches head) , was that today was an absloute scorcher and after giving it some there was no movement in the temp guage from where it normally sits, additionally should also notice even more improvement on a cooler day. :smilielol:

Thanks again Doc,Monday the phones there will be ringing,January ph1 aps kit :smilielol: Just got to work out now what to do with the exhaust

Can't get enough of this :smilielol:

Thanks for the info Hypnodoc.

I'm really interested in getting this done.

Please post some pictures of the modified intake.

Thanks :smilielol:

Mmmm, I dunno. After seeing those pictures, I dont think it looks real factory.

The main advantage of using a XR8 style air cleaner is the duct, it is virtually ramming the air into the airbox through the duct under the headlight.

Each to their own...... the world would be very boring if everybody did the same thing.

;)

The one I got looked a lot better than what the pictures show. Outlet tube is black and the standar T bonnet intake is utilise. Regardless you can definately feel the extra air in the performance side. :puke:

Hi WhiteTee,

I'm looking at getting this mod done and I'm in the sydeny area (hills too actually).

Can I ask where you got it done?

thanks
