E85 on the Barra Turbo: Tuning, Fuel System & Results

I used normal efi hose in the fuel tank back in 2005 when I did the stock fuel pump mod. Less than 2months down the track and car would take forever to come onto boost and felt like the engine just wouldn't rev.

Anyway, had blueboost drop in at the time and he hooked up his innovate afr gauge and by the first bend told me to take it home lol. checked the pump and the hose had a big split down it where most of the pressure was just p!ssing fuel out of so the car was lean off it's t!ts...

The hose had even started to bulge and by the time I removed it, it was easy to pick the rubber coating off the hose!

I switched to Gates Submersible and never had a problem since!

What's the cost of an intank setup? I was completely happy with the PW surge tank I had on the BA but Kev doesn't make one to fit the territory so intank will prob be the way to go.

  • In SA you don't need a fuel pump. The vacuum for the fuel system is created from the intake stroke.

  • Ok for all you guys that are sick of the C*ck measuring going on I was put on to this post by my tuner and it does a bloody good job covering off E85. Enjoy I know I did. Also it made me more comforta

Yeah I have split 2 walbro intank pump lines so I'm trying something else. Was struggling to get my hands on gates stuff so went a different option.

High flow pumps are only a couple hundred. I do believe if you go up to a 460 you'll need a better reg.

I'm not sure on the TTs fuel setup if it's similar to the falcon or something totally different

What is the actual restriction of the stock reg? When I look at it, the return hole is like 2mm in diameter. I know when I used my turbosmart rails adapter the hole was 2.8mm and by increasing it to 3.5 I got over a 2 bar drop in lowest pressure achievable.

I'm not sure bud

All I've heard is lines popping off with pumps over 400lph with stock rail and reg

tune will not be accurate if the fuel pressure is not correct

Always helpful Mick

And I would find it hard to pop fuel hose off the factory rails etc at normal pressure. Them standard clamps are tight as

Pretty sure the setup is nearly identical apart from the tank and swirlpot as I haven't seen inside it yet but reckon it's prob the same also. What does an external Bosch 044 flow as we never had probs with them?

I could just replace the intank pump but this is my daily car and if there is a chance it can lean out then I'd be more cautious to use an intank surge setup even though I think they are way too expensive!

There's no room up front for the external surge tank due to awd but heard there is room near the back seat which I'm yet to explore...

What's your power goal bud?

Most pumps can be mated to an Intank setup. I know if your planning on sub 400 a 460 with a reg would suffice and shouldn't surge

Bosch now only rate on their 044's to 500 hours on E85
