As I said screw ford, they never fix it right anyway. Least if they give you crap you can go in armed with some knowlege. And yes it is dangerous as it is. I was so close to going over in the litter. If you lock up and clip a gutter with stiff suspension you are on your roof. And I know the wallies will ping you strait away for dangerous driving. then you have the insurance hassels.Mr Senna it does not always pay to be right. Even if your wrong

ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Also if you tap the gearstick twice, I would expect it to shift 2 gears if it does not over rev the motor. You may need to practice a bit more and learn to love the way it is.

It is easier to click back when doing this than push forward. Maybe a good thing, but not under hard braking with your fist still on the shift.Even just going over a speed bump with my hand on the gear stick will cause it to change downDo "we" teach people in advance driving courses to have one hand on the steering wheel and a fist grip on the automatic shifter during heavy braking? If you've braced yourself correctly then it shouldn't make a difference if you tap a light lever forward or backward as you've kept the weight off your hands...Also, why would you blame the way ZF designed a shifter for putting you into a compression lock-up on the street and hitting a gutter? Why are you driving in a way that requires you to shift down at such high rpm going into a corner on the street? If you drive like you are on a race track in a race car all the time maybe you should buy a manual... Doesn't always pay to be right, but it does pay to make sense...

These things are supposed to only change down if by selecting the lower gear it will not force the engine over the rev limit....and in keeping with this scenario it will ‘remember the tap(s)’ and change down when safe to do so. If you knock it down four times it will only go as far as the rev limit will allow until your speed drops to allow it to continue changing down.So if you’re doing say 60km/h in fourth and tap it down twice you will go to second, that’s by design and I reckon they’ve got it all spoton. If you're going to change it I reckon go the paddle shift

I rest my hand on my knob while driving a lot, though I find it gets sticky and I have to clean it.

M35 stageas are opposite and there is a thread on skylinesaustralia.com.au about how to switch it over, looks very easy - simply swapping two wires.I like it the way it is, and don't rest my hand on my knob usually two hands on the wheel if I'm pushing it, if necessary I rest my hand just behind the knob if there are a few quick changes needed. Guest XR09 Guests Posted 08/12/09 11:38 AM Posted 08/12/09 11:38 AM I really dont give a shoite which way it goes, I can adapt to it. But the thing is if you just rest your hand on it, it changes up or down and as I am sitting behind it, it usually changes down.I live where most speed limits are 80 to 100. I have fairly stiff suspension, the roads are crap and in the wet it does not take much for it to go into lock mode. Well in the skid pan anyway. but most roads are almost as slippery anyway. It has not done it to me on the street, except for today when trying it out and over the speed bump going into the supermarket. Usually on the road it is just left in auto or just slid accross to overtake. I don't use the manual mode on the road. AS I don't use auto on the track. In thirty one years of driving I have had one speeding ticket on the road in a car. And three on a bike in the one day in total. I don't drive fast on the road. I go home and care for a person who was totally F%cked up in a car accident every day.that's why I became an instrutor. It has not happened on a race track either, but on a closed road circut that is not as flat as your forehead the ass of the car does dance around a little under very hard braking and If you are washing off more than 150k you are slotting down a few gears. And you just cant help it. Sorry but mine has that little tollerence it is dangerous, same as the other guys. He does not bother using his on the road either.that's why I wanted to change the way it works. I would rather go up than down by mistake.Put it this way I have more movement in my laptops keybord than my shift. As I said I like it as in I only have to brush it to change gear. But when I am playing in it on the limit it can get ugly when you accidently lean on it with the car dancing and the ass wriggling around.Obviously some are like mine and some not. So maybe my question should have been can you get a little more slack in the shift. SORRY And yeh we do teach people to take one hand off the wheel to change gears. We do that for L platers. I don't think your grasping how sensitive it is and how little pressure it takes for it to change down or up. It's not like I have to hit it home. As I said you just touch it and it changes. most of the time I love it that way. It's only really that one corner and it's a hairpin that can need first eventually anyway if you don't get it right. Just not 50m out when I am still wanting to be in second. I dont drive hard on the road. I dont have to. Cant anyway it's only an n/a
