The old man is trying to buy a new Turbo Ghia Territory, but is only met by arrogant dealers, and fob offs from Ford Australia.

Aparently, they only make TTs to order (around 8 weeks delivery), and no dealers in Sydney have one that he can see or test drive. To make matters worse, the common response he gets from everyone (Ford Australia included) is, "Why would you want a turbo?".

Every one of them has tried to talk him into a non turbo. He said all he wanted to do was see one and drive it before he buys, but the killer response from Ford was that they don't have any non turbo Ghias either! He was left with the feeling that if he actually orderded the TT, it would just never arrive, with continual delays and fob offs in the vein than some members here have expereinced with trying to get FPV parts.

Ford OZ's response to the question, "Why do you even offer a TT in the range when you clearly aren't interested in selling them?"

"Due to Govt. regulations, we have to have a certain number of models in our range.'

And Ford's response to the question of what happens to the TT when the all new Territory arrives next year, "We can't comment on that."

No wonder these guys can't make a go of it, here's someone wanting to give them money for a product Ford advertises as available, yet they can't deliver. Ford even admitted that demand for the Territories was currently quite high.

WAKE-UP FORD! Cars sell from the top down, you can't sell a top of the line car, with only base models on display. But you can sell lower models by having the top of the range on show (this is something Expensive Daewoo learn't years ago).

Try Kinghorn Motors in Nowra mate, they are a little south of Sydney but are always winning awards for best rural dealer etc. Geoff O'Connel is the dealer principal there and he should be able to source one for you. My pop gets a new Territory every 6months from there.

I purchased a XR6 Ute in June and was suprised when dealer after dealer in Syd and Wollongong NSW said there are none available. (I was after a manual tray back at the time) I ended up finding out there were only 3 in NSW. I ended up getting a SSB auto but they were still very limited supply. I found the lack of supply amazing considering everyone saying sales are down and we are in recession.

The problem is the cost of the TT/TTG's and the fact that they WILL be releasing a FG TT/TTG next year.

No dealers want to be stuck with the older model and have to heavily discount it to sell it.

When I got my GT-E in Feb, they had a brand new F6X for $60k drive away. This is what will happen if anyone has stock of the older models.

When I got the TTG we had to test drive a TT and a NA Ghia as noone had a TTG in sydney when we wanted to buy.

Personally I do nto see the problem, you cannot walk into many dealers and test their top spec cars as they are either a waiting list or build to order.

This was because every tradesman tried to update their workute/car in June. The dealers did not have enough stock to meet the demand. This was common across all makes and models.

I guess this means that if you want a particular vehicle and aren't scared to travel a bit, there should still be stock about, just do your homework. A new vehicle is the same from anyplace, its just the chasing around for the package you want. There is always heaps of negotiation in any deal, be strong and you may be very pleasantly surprised..
