Good question. I will check the RPM's on my car, the XR6's at work and my fathers G6E Turbo and see where they idle. I'd like to think the mechanics at Ford would have looked at that.

Good Morning, I have had Ford look at the noise and they replaced a muffler under the glove box. This got rid of the noise, however the cause of the noise is still there, the car vibrates at approx. 500 or 550rpm. This has highlighted other smaller noises. I have also had people comment on this when in the car. I will clean the car out soon (so Ford cant blame the pen in the glove box etc) and take it back. Long and short, they fixed the noise but not the cause. Could this be a tunning issue. Regards

Hey, I have the same problem with my May 2009 FG XR6 Ute with 75,000km on the clock. It sounds strong when idleing in 'D' and not in park although the revs are similar. I had it at Ford last week for the 75k service and they said they couldn't find it, however they "tightened the exhaust". Since then it has been louder. The service manager said if it continues, don't hesitate to bring in back in, which I am doing tomorrow. From my lack of car knowledge and listening to where it is comming from, it could be a broken baffel which only vibrate at the correct RPM. I will let you know how I go. Regards, Michael.

Hey All, My father went for a trip through country VIC, NSW and SA recently and on return the front of the car had a couple of bugs hanging on. The bugs came off the paint work without to much of an issue and the radiator/AC condenser cover was removed to clean them and they came up reasonably. The problem lays with cleaning the intercooler, we cant get to it to clean it. Can anyone explain how to remove the lower grill on the G6ET. I have attached a couple of photos FYI. I have the same problem on fast pumps the way I get around it is to turn the trigger 180degree to point up this solves the issue. I had a similar thing on a Hilux which had to be tilted 90degrees I dont really watch the fuel gauge on it but monitor the range, trip and avg L/100km on a long trip I get about 750km/tank and put about 75-80L in and that's running it to a range of 0 with highway (not freeway) driving. Run it down do almost 0 a couple of time and see how much petrol up put in 81L tank and a couple in the line. Hope this help

Tab is correct , Ford classify the front door speakers (2ways) as 2 speaker each. This is the same as the G6ET where there is two missing when talkin to for they say there is two in the front door. This has been mentioned in other forums. I installed Dynamat on the back wall after about 3000 km and I believe it reduced road noise slightly but made the stero sound alot better. Mick.

Hey, About a month ago someone ran up the back of the ute and put a hole in the rear bumper near the number plate. The driver stopped gave me his details and a week later I had a quote to fix it from a recommended repairer and received the money off the bloke the next day. So I booked the car in and took it in to get fixed last week. When I got it back it had a run in the clear coat near the number plate. Today I took it in and they "just cut it out". When I got home a noticed enough run in the clear coat behind the tail gate hinge. Its hard to show in a photo but attached is a photo. Im not sure if they would do more damage trying to remove the run and it is kinda hard to see. Does anyone know what the panel beater would do to rectify this? Thanks Mick Gibbo

that's a good price! was it the Hayman reece type (removable tounge)? and was it heave ute or light duty?

I also have an 09 ute and although I get reception around the main areas it doesn't take much to loose the reception. The Pioneer radio in my old ute was def better.

Some of the guys at work use big entry mats with the rubber backing which they love, but others use the thick 10mm rubber mat with holes which does an amazing job at stopping things sliding. I was thinking about a rubber mat but the adjustable dividers are working well for me.

I to would like to know the cost of a heavy duty tow bar for FG S/S I had a toyota genuine light duty put on a tray back ute about a year ago for just under $500

I have only owned utes I have driven different utes at work but I don't drive a ute because they give me a good ride or because they are a drivers car. I drive utes because they are what I need, I cant throw stuff in the back of a wagon or sedan and not care, and I cant carry bricks timber or tools in wagon or sedan without doing some damage. And the same goes for why I don't drive a Expensive Daewoo ute. Apart from Hay Bails and empty cardboard boxs a Expensive Daewoo ute (higher omega) can't carry any thing a wagon or sedan can't, throw a hard cover on and chances are you will have to take the hay out. So I don't understand why someone would buy a Expensive Daewoo ute and brag that they ride better. And to that I ask, how many vehicles are there in the Ford range which can carry the same as a Expensive Daewoo Ute (jack all) that would have much better ride and handling? Why do people who care about ride and handling buy a ute when they don't intend to use the rear?

Made the rear divider this afternoon. I got routered a 14mm wide by 10mm deep slot near the centre of the board to line up with the slots in the tub. Im going to make a 350mm wide by 200mm high divider to slide into the slot to stop stuff rolling around. I intend to make two slots in the divider the near the cab to make 3 partitions to fit a couple of plastic tubs for ropes etc.

I have to say Dash (Metallic Green) does a very good job at hiding the dust, just as good if not better then my white ute and better then black.

We had the G6ET Battery die on us within 6 months, rang the dealer up when it happened (5pm) as it wouldnt start and they sent a mechanic out straight away. Mechanic jump started it and we drove it to the dealer. When we go there they had a battery and mechanic there waiting. Replaced battery free of charge with no questions asked except for the trouble shoooting

I feel your pain. I'm going through the same thing ATM, but in my FG. I as you mentioned the 5x7' I believe that you have a BA/BF. I want to keep the space behind the seat too as its great when traveling. As mentioned in http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...18&start=18 I'm looking at the following set up: Option 1 Front - Alpine Type R Splits SPR-17S Rear - Alpine Type R 5' x 7' SPR-57C - Prob end up being SPR-17C Amp - Alpine MRPF300 Approx - $1250 installed Option 2 Front - Focal Polyglass 165 VRS Rear - "Focal Polyglass 5' x 7" however I havnt found these speaker in the catalogue he gave me. I believe they will prob end up being 165CVX. Amp - Alpine MRPF300 Approx - $1499 installed With a Focal BUS25 underseat sub for $700.00 I will also be Dynamatting the doors, I did the rear walls last week and it makes a bit of difference. As the FG have 6inch speakers in the B pillars I wont end up running the 5x7' The amp will be connected using high level out from the factory head and the sub is self contained. Amp to be installed under driver seat. This set up was designed with budget and space while trying to use the factory locations. I'm looking at buying premium audio A pillar trims (for the splits) but Ford are asking $100 a set (standard A pillar trims are $30)

I purchased a XR6 Ute in June and was suprised when dealer after dealer in Syd and Wollongong NSW said there are none available. (I was after a manual tray back at the time) I ended up finding out there were only 3 in NSW. I ended up getting a SSB auto but they were still very limited supply. I found the lack of supply amazing considering everyone saying sales are down and we are in recession.

How long have you been running Ultimate? I found with other car that when you start using the 98's (Vortex Gold, Optimax, Ultimate) its takes a couple of tanks before you start to see a difference. As previously mentioned what are your tyres at? Mick

I cant think of many options if you wants the hard cover still. Have you considered loosing the hardover and replacing with a checkerplate alloywith access doors, this will make it easy to access the gear right behind the cab. Some company's including MW sheet metal make trundle trays but with the plastic liners it would be hard cos youd have to find the structure below for the rail fixings. Why cant you put an alloy tray with tool boxes. I used to have 2 1250x450x400 tool boxes and just took the ladders and compressor and stuff off on the w.e. (yes I do know you said you wouldnt have it any other way) White in colour is good for hiding scratches.

Had a look but couldnt find any of the old hilux set up, but as Utemad said it depend on your trade. If your a carpenter/builder you will be struggling with a SSB IMO. If your a carpenter/builder working out of your ute every day a SSB isnt a good idea has when ever you go and grab something out of the tray you nail bag will scratch the F**K out of the SSB. Now Now men. Please read the original question above. But in response to a number of item which came up through out the day (seems you all work hard) I would like to note the following. Other car manufacturers state a fuel tanks size - this is also the usable size eg my hilux, I have put 68ltrs in when it states 69ltr tanks. Fuel guages are not the best indication as when u fill up it goes to full (as you would expect) but the vast majourity of fuel guages show empty when there is in fact 10 ltrs left (normally when fuel light comes on) and you can then use every last bit of the 10ltrs. As the FG does not have a fuel light I dont know when I have 10ltrs left. yes there is the fuel used which I have to rely on. In regards to why would I worry so much there are a couple of reason: 1. so I know when I HAVE to start looking to I starting liking at 100kms 80km 40km 2km 0km or -20km. 2. I do a fair bit of driving and to get an extra 80km before refueling makes a big diff. 3. so I know how far I can run from the cops 4. its non of your f**king business. Thanks for you help. PS.
