You guys have brought up my two concerns about Aami - 2 year NFO and choice of repairer. But I can chose a different insurer for the second year. Its the choice of repairer I'm more concerned about.

The trip I did this afternoon was 90% highway and the range didnt jump (the figures above are what I got when I got home.) My old Hilux (2004 model) just has a petrol light which came on at 10ltrs remain which was very good as I knew how far I would get out of it. and better for planning on longer trips. tab - thanks.

Hey, Does anyone know the usable amount of petrol the FG petrol tank holds? I know the manual says 81ltrs Ive had my FG XR6 Ute for awhile and notice it says 80km to empty when there is less then 70ltrs used. I discussed this with the old man who has a G6ET and he has noticed the same. The following info is what the MFD currently displays: Avg Econ.: 11.0ltrs/100km Range: 114kms Trip: 546.6 Fuel used: 60.2 If you do the calcs you would work out the following: Petrol Left: 81-60.2 = 20.8ltrs Dist to empty assuming all is usable: 20.8/11.0 = 189kms Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Nolz! The rear speakers are just going to be a matter of what fits I think. The BUS25 is expensive (that allows for $100 in labour). I prob won't get the amp with the install but get the wiring put in so its easy to install later. Better BFYB in the alpine I reckon. Depends on where your priorities lie I guess - What do you mean by priorities?

Sorry, misunderstanding. Mine seems to work fine everytime and I just turn it fully to I hit the start and let go. I'm near Wollongong NSW so the coldest I have started it in is about 8degrees.

Having an auto my self I use it every day. I just had a quick look at the OM under manual it say "Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine fires, then release." Notol, there could be a chance your manual doesnt have One Touch Start system and that's why its coughing.

Hey, I'm looking at upgrading the FG Ute speakers. I've been talking to a couple of people and have been advised the following options by a auto electrican. He believes I can get 5' x 7' in the rear (I'm a bit sceptical judging by the photos ive seen on here) Option 1 Front - Alpine Type R Splits SPR-17S Rear - Alpine Type R 5' x 7' SPR-57C - Prob end up being SPR-17C Amp - Alpine MRPF300 Approx - $1250 installed Option 2 Front - Focal Polyglass 165 VRS Rear - "Focal Polyglass 5' x 7" however I havnt found these speaker in the catalogue he gave me. I believe they will prob end up being 165CVX. Amp - Alpine MRPF300 Approx - $1499 installed I can also add a Focal BUS25 underseat sub for $700.00 I will also be Dynamatting the rear wall and doors. What are your thoughts on these two set ups? Does anyone know if 5 x 7's can be installed in rear Is the sub worth it? Thanks for your help in advance.

I got excited when I started reading this but when I went out to the ute (FG XR6 May 09 build) I found no wiring. Went and had a look at the old man's G6ET and found the wire and buld holder your talking about. Looking at the wiring harness it goes into id have to agree that with the premo sound (optional or standard) it comes in the wiring loom/harness. If there is something else I can connect into please let me know. If you want pics of both the XR6 and G6ET foot well and light let me know.

Im looking at doing this to my ute over the next couple of weeks and have a couple of questions. Which thickness Dynaliner did you use? Are your back vent still working well (with AC on)? Is there much sound improvement with the speakers? How hard is it to get the roof down without damaging the lining? Thanks for your help in advance.

The slot ford has provided in the tray is 75mm wide which makes it hard to make a lightweight divider (as most people want the divider to be the height of the wheel arch). I managed knocked up a divider this morning in 10mins with materials I had laying around. I used stick of 240 x 45 (10'x2') oregon (old builders plank) as this would be loose in the slots I nailed a small piece of 19mm maple to the end at the slots. To stop the plank rattling I used a very thin wedge. You will notice the base of the slot in the tray has a chaffer, to prevent the plank placing a point load on this little bit plastic a 10mm chaffer was cut to the base of the plank. As the plank was 240 ill prob look at cutting it down to about 5mm above the wheel arches. This solution is a bit rough and quick but does the job. The height is good if you have an esky or items with a high centre of gravity.

Same, I get my new one today. I thinking or a solid bit of pine/oregon the same thickness as the slot and high enough to clear the wheel arches if you need to put something on top.
