hehe. Newl, I didn't sell the ute for this, this is a dedicated weekend track car. I was sick of driving a good car and not fully exploiting or enjoying it. The ute was always a competitive compromise (even at teh drags) And I always had one half of my brain calculating damage/repair costs.. The downside with this car - That Decal theme is IMPOSSIBLE to source if I smack it :(

How does it go?

0-100 in 4.9 from factory running low 13's on 11psi. Best power/weight of any of the Evo's.

With boost, an RS version here in Perth has run 12.1 @ 115 factory everything with a zorst/tune.

Stripped, boosted with cams stock ecu I'd expect very low 12's. Quicker than the ute on street tyres anyway.

Cheap? Yeah.. No compliance cost to start with. Exchange rate right now is superb! $1100 to ship, $1500 in other costs. $6,500 to buy. (+GST)

Mods long term are forged engine / management and MXL dash

Short term R-comps, full cage and Sparco evo seats, suede wheel etc..

I have been trying to get a Jap racecar, but cannot seem to find any site that specialises in Race only.

Do you have your P3 CAMS to get it imported ?

Great car for some fun, I had the GSR version of that model and it was a awsome little car to thrash around.

Was doing a couple hill climbs a while back and they are riddled with cheap race only imports competing. There was a series 4 STI that had been brought in for $4500. A guy competing in a lightly modded EVO3 was only 1 second off a Targa prepped EVO8 TMR Edition with full cage semi slicks running 240awkw.

Zap, I went straight to Japan. I didn't bother with any of the Aus 'importers'. I planned on having a look when I stopped over on my way to US, but had no time unfortunately..

I searched Auction sites, chatted to a few car yards in Jpn and came across a guy who specializes in E3's (and E6's). His English is Very good.

I also have a Relly who is a freight forwarder and imports/exports anything inc cars so he is helping me with AU side of paperwork.

The guy I dealt with in Jpn organized shipping de-reg etc.

I am applying for import approval based on my current L2s license. There have been a few guys who have been successful with this so I'm giving it a try. Time prevents from getting C3 even though it's easy.

I am using the basis I never compete in that category and just starting out in Hill Climbs, Speed events and limited closed circuit events.

My experience in previous L2S events will help.

I have no doubt that the car will be competitive. 95% of the time you beat drivers, not cars. I was beating GTR's in the wet around Wanneroo in the ute.

Re the stickers, I have a guy I deal with through work who I will contact if I need a replacement. Shouldn't be too hard, but I want it exact. I suppose there is an exact match on the opposite side of the car also.....

Hiiddeous, I heard from a guy at work re: the old ute + tint job. Each to there own, just like my decal theme I 'spose..

Never having entered any deriving events I never really new this type of thing existed. Nice car for fark all money, but would be interested to know what the upkeep is. Either ay best of luck mate enjoy you only live once.
